IPS sent on a Friday around 5pm I think- so Emanuel and others might do the same-thinking of anyone waiting!!!!

Do we expect to hear from IPS before Feb 10 results day or are you referring to the previous rounds?

Waitlist1234 · 09/01/2023 12:30

How did the WHS went for those that went this morning? I gather there were group A and B, with around 8 group of 8 in each? with at least 2 sittings one in the morning one in the pm that is at least 250 girls?

Just dropped my daughter - she was group C in the afternoon. Lots of girls there, easily over one hundred but difficult to estimate as arrival staggered over the 10 minutes slot.

Waitlist1234 · 09/01/2023 13:08

so probably 300/350 girls for 60 places 😓

branchmom1234 · 09/01/2023 13:14

The wait is really getting to me :-)
My DD has a call back from G&L - do you know how many are called back?

From last years experience, does this also mean that she is likely to get a call back from South Hampstead? My DD left quite a few questions in Maths, win the consortium exam, so anxious about call back from SHHS as well.

We are quite focused on the consortium schools and so wanted to see if we can expect.

Parent123456 · 09/01/2023 13:16

One mum told me 80% of people sitting G&L were called back. Not sure how many are sitting though

PreplexJ · 09/01/2023 13:18

I can't understand why GL or SHHS call back 2nd round so late, the consortium test is computerised they should know the result in hours if not minutes!

branchmom1234 · 09/01/2023 13:34

80% is a very high call back rate; so a lot will ride on the 15 min interview! I guess approx less than 15% of applicants get an offer, assuming c. 700 people apply to G&L, keeping in line with the application numbers for the top tier names.

branchmom1234 · 09/01/2023 13:36

Perhaps the schools have different weightage to different sections and want to cut and dice keeping in view Head Masters recco or CAT score? Who knows, this is a blackbox for sure!

Maybe the 80% call back number is not true?

Parent123456 · 09/01/2023 13:41

well 15% of 700 applicants is 105 girls for 100 + spaces so it does not add up.. they probably offer to 150/160 girls for 100 places. Probably 90% of girls sitting SPGS and having offers from SPGS also have offer from G&L and probably at least half will prefer SPGS, there is also an overlap with LU, Tiffin, HBS..
Probably 400/500 are called back with then a 1/2 - 1/3 chances to get offer.

MrsAFlorrick · 09/01/2023 13:53

Anyone heard from Emanuel today?

branchmom1234 · 09/01/2023 13:58

True they will over offer, even with that, the interview is very important if this is going to identify 25% out of the 80%

Were there a lot of DCs last year who went to the interview and didnt walk away with an offer? I am not sure how they can form an impression in 15 min.

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 14:01

@MrsAFlorrick nothing here - I am assuming they will email after looking at Art Portfolios, which I understand are doing today, so this evening is the earliest I would expect (and, tbh, I think it will be later than that).

@momomamiko nothing expected from IPS before the 10th Feb. I think previous reference was to the outcome of stage 1.

I would be really mindful about accepting info on callback rates from one mum. Where did she get her info from? Is it at all sound?

80% sounds very high for G&L (who have had weeks to pour over the Consortium test and draw up a shortlist based on whatever their criteria might be). I can only imagine how tempting it is to fill the gaping void of information with speculation, but probably not helpful unless it's direct from the school or from parents' prior knowledge and experience.

I agree - all this speculation adds to more stress and anxiety and that is the least all of us need - what good is it anyway speculating about numbers...

2012mom · 09/01/2023 14:07

LU: 440 called for interview. Any guess as to how many offers it will make?

Highgate: any guess about how many applied, how many called for interview and how many offers made for 80 spaces?

SamPoodle123 · 09/01/2023 14:12

I highly doubt is 80% called back at G&L. Esp with a 15 minute interview to help them decide. Where did your friend get this info? We know a few that did not make it to the next round for G&L and only one that made it (along with my dd).

I got feedback from Putney that they asked half back and there were around 600 applicants, so that is 300 back to interview. And they are doing a 2 hour assessment....

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 14:13

@LondonMum20222 agree.

Also, in the current environment, I would not be surprised if, in the current environment, quite a few schools are still considering how many to offer and how many to put on WL and/or might adopt a different approach to previous years.

Thank you @SamPoodle123 That is very useful information about Putney.

Parent123456 · 09/01/2023 14:17

@SamPoodle123 her DD did the assessment last year and that is what she was told.
I only know one girl that was not called back so far, all the rest of my DD friends were (15+). Had the impression that on the chat, most were being called back as well.

branchmom1234 · 09/01/2023 14:18

Thanks SamPoodle123 - that benchmarking makes sense. I only have FHRP as a benchmark and they said they call back 70% of applicants and they have a 1 hour interview. Also they must have to over offer by a higher proportion because they lose to other NW London schools as well.

SamPoodle123 · 09/01/2023 14:22

Does anyone know how many spots for year 7 at Putney high? And for Godolphin?

SamPoodle123 · 09/01/2023 14:26

@Parent123456 wow, that is a surprisingly high number. Not sure how they would only take 15 minutes for interview if they ask so many back. I would think it would be less being asked back if they are doing such a short interview. How would they make a decision with so many girls in only 15 minutes?

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 14:30

@SamPoodle123 i think that PHS usually has 60-70 places... it changes year on year depending on how many stay from Junior school. We have not applied but I remember from when we considered and visited. It is similar, in that sense, to WHS.

OP posts:
Parent123456 · 09/01/2023 14:30

Putney is around 110 of which c 30/40 coming from Junior school
G&L is around 120
