400 seems quite a lot. From what I have heard all girls that went to second round last year ended up with a place offered or waitlist.. for 60 places ?

how many groups are there? Mine is in the morning 8.40 and there are at least group a and b

I agree with you - I was quite surprised that they would invite to many but apparently the information came from the school.... but agree that it does not tally with what happened in previous years or it seems very logical (especially as their stage 2 is quite involved / resource intensive).
There are at least 3 groups per slot (we know people with letter "c"). When you say 9 am, is that for a 9 am start of the test?
We are at 1 pm - I assume that there are only 2 slots (one at 9 am and another at 1 pm).
I wonder how many girls per group and how many groups per session...

@Parent123456 do you mean 8.40 arrival for 9 am start?
(Like you, trying to work out how many are likely to be there)

Parent123456 · 08/01/2023 12:27

They say 8.30 to 8.45 arrival until 11.40
there are at least group a and b
what time are you?

Re: Emanuel communication of progressing to stage 2 - I understand that those applying for art scholarships have been asked to handover portfolios on Monday am and collect in the late afternoon. Assuming that they are going to communicate art scholars whether they have progressed at the same time as everyone else, that would point to communication on Monday evening or later.
Any others have heard similarly?

@QuiteAJourney So the art scholars asked to hand over their work would have already progressed to Stage 2? Otherwise they would have a number of children handing over work on Monday who may have not cleared the exam?

QuiteAJourney · 08/01/2023 12:42

@Parent123456 We are at 12.40-12.55 arrival, finishing at 3.50.
I wonder whether there are other slots.

They do not know ... I think that it is quite strange how some schools deal with scholarships ...

Yes I always imagined the scholarship applications would be requested after the exam. Do you think we'll hear from Emanuel tomorrow? I envisaged mid week.

Marisquita · 08/01/2023 13:02

Bear in mind that Emanuel did sports scholarship assessments very early - before the exam day - so they can’t have been dependent on exam performance. I don’t know whether it’s different for art.

Nearlythere3 · 08/01/2023 13:04

I wouldn’t worry too much about numbers quoted by schools. If they exaggerate numbers applying/interviewing it makes them look a more attractive option if they offer a place as it’s viewed as more competitive. It’s all part of the game/stress!

VickiMent · 08/01/2023 13:06

We did a few others that said they would come back the week commencing x, and all have let us know on the Thursday. Hopefully it will be Monday but patience might be required. Good luck all!

It is all so weird on the scholarships front.. from what I have seen (we did not apply), some schools have invited to scholarship assessments to when withdraw the invitation when the DC did not get through exam (which I think is rather rude and ruthless and unnecessary). Others do the assessment in parallel and look at the outcome of both together. And others offer and then call you for an assessment.

On Emanuel, I am not holding my breath about hearing tomorrow, tbh (but may happen). My DD did not come out very happy after the exam either, so not holding my breath on that front either...

It's so difficult to predict. My DS was the same after Ibstock.

QuiteAJourney · 08/01/2023 13:30

@Daydreamscometrue , agree that all difficult to predict. We are just focusing on the fact that we have had some good news and trying to keep calm whilst waiting... but it is such a protracted process!

PS Ibstock seems to have a been a hard one (apparently they do that every year but then, and hopefully this year too, they adjust the offers accordingly)

@QuiteAJourney it was a bit of a shocker the first round. DS found the second round better. Who knows how it will all play out. Keeping fingers crossed!

branchmom1234 · 08/01/2023 14:08

Hi - does anyone have any insight into what is asked during the CLSG interviews. Its for 15 min - any ideas on what is asked? What impression can be created in that short a time. Also is it 1 teacher per interview or 2?

QuiteAJourney · 08/01/2023 14:09

@Daydreamscometrue Fingers crossed here too.
Which other ones do you have in the running?

OP posts:
Mumyofthree · 08/01/2023 14:29

Wow, didn't expect 400! Thanks for the info though. My DD will go in the afternoon.... so far only heard about afternoon slot so I thought they only had one, clearly not the case.

PreplexJ · 08/01/2023 14:42

Anyone has insight into how CLSG allocate the interview slots (but surname by school or other criteria?) ? The interview is short but apparently it will last for 2 weeks!!

knopka · 08/01/2023 15:18

I also don't expect anything on Monday from Emanuel, it's better to expect on Thursday and be surprised.
It's the last school we are waiting to hear from thankfully. I am not sure if it was the right decision to only apply to 3 schools but hopefully it pays off.

Dulwich, Whitgift and Emanuel. You @QuiteAJourney ?

QuiteAJourney · 08/01/2023 15:34

@Daydreamscometrue We did KGS interview on Friday and have second stage of WHS on Monday. Waiting for Emanuel and Harrodian. All others done before Christmas.

OP posts:
Daydreamscometrue · 08/01/2023 15:36

@QuiteAJourney we also did KGS on Friday and have LU interview on Tuesday.

Daydreamscometrue · 08/01/2023 15:37

@QuiteAJourney when do you hear from Harrodian?

QuiteAJourney · 08/01/2023 15:43

Daydreamscometrue · 08/01/2023 15:36

@QuiteAJourney we also did KGS on Friday and have LU interview on Tuesday.

Hope that KGS went fine (I think that most DC found it a nice experience)

And good luck for LU!
