i myself have been looking for this thread and have been unsuccessful. Saw a couple people mention it over the past day or so on the 2022 one.

so here we go, albeit a bit late.

has everyone visited all the schools on their lists?

how many schools are everyone applying to?

what schools are you applying to?

how is the preparation going?

i know some exams have taken place, how did they go?

wishing all the whirls good luck with preparation and exams, hope we all find the right schools for our daughters.

Yes :) but not getting too excited about it, if similar to SPGS most girls are being called back for second stage.

Workhar · 14/12/2022 10:18

@Lolakath19 The website says only 380 girls are chosen for the 2nd stage. Do you know how many applied? And how many spaces are finally offered?

Yes my son did. I think it is worthwhile. It gives an idea of top line maths and English scores relative to a cohort of sitters. So a prompt as to which subject requires more focus. It also is an exam in a big hall setting which gets the children used to that unfamiliar setting.

Fab, thank-you. That's really helpful. I think the aspect of "getting a ten year old used to the idea of sitting in a massive hall and sitting an exam with a bunch of strangers" is the toughest thing about this whole process!

Normally 800+ applicants (more than SPGS) I assume

QuiteAJourney · 14/12/2022 11:22

QQ - shall I start a part 2 of this thread but with no reference to girls (so boys are also included)? We are fast approaching 1000 posts, which is the upper limit for a thread

KindergartenKop · 14/12/2022 11:47

@QuiteAJourney yes, do it!!!

secondaryquandries · 14/12/2022 12:08

Well done to your child @Lolakath19 ! And yes i reckon go for it @QuiteAJourney and post the new link in here before it fills up!

QuiteAJourney · 14/12/2022 12:10

Congratulations @Lolakath19 !

On the new (continuation) thread, I will set up and post the link here. Hopefully it works.

QuiteAJourney · 14/12/2022 12:13

New (continuation) thread now open

I find it frustrating that the girls’ schools are not more open about numbers at each stage; I have called and asked a couple of them, only to be told that they don’t give even give out approximate numbers. I think it should be open knowledge given how very involved each of these processes are and the effort required to get through each round, not to mention the registration fee! Feels like a common courtesy to know where you stand at each stage.

My experience of boys’ schools is that they are more open with basic data on the process.

FriendlyMom · 15/12/2022 17:09

Latymer Upper emails are out. Good luck to everyone who's applied!

LondonMum142 · 16/01/2023 17:30

You have to start early! It keeps getting more and more competitive every year.
I hear there are up to 1200 candidates going for 200 places at some schools and everyones been tutored within an inch of their life it seems!

QuiteAJourney · 16/01/2023 17:58

@LondonMum142 This thread is dormant - the conversation is now on a thread entitled SW London Private and Grammar - applying for Year 7 entry in 2023 (Part III).

Scrumps81 · 03/02/2023 20:11

Does anyone know when IPS will release their offers? Last one we are waiting on and cant seem to find any information

secondaryquandries · 03/02/2023 21:30

@Scrumps81 I believe they have said ''mid Feb'! I would t be surprised if it ended up being 10th though, like many other schools.

Scrumps81 · 03/02/2023 21:42

Thank you! Cant wait until this is all over. Good luck with your offers and thanks again

secondaryquandries · 03/02/2023 21:53

@Scrumps81 no problem. We are all in thread 5 now -come and join us. Link a few down in this thread.

Scrumps81 · 03/02/2023 21:54

Thanks - see you there!

Quiteajourney we're going for (in addition to grammar) mixed schools KGS and Ibstock. We considered Emanuel and Epsom also but I don't think we will. Then boys only Hampton, KCS Wimbledon and Reeds. It seems a lot but really don't want to end up empty handed!!

Where did your DS end up?
