Exam season starts....

Lol MrsB. I can just imagine all these parents up and down the country bearing their offspring's exam angst! Smile

Mindgone · 15/06/2015 21:36

Chemistry was 'a good paper' here too Smile. Hellsbells, it sounds like your DD has a perfect evening planned! DS is off to a friend's for a chilled evening on Wed, then a party and a poker night (!) at the weekend when the rest have finished.
Maths C4 tomorrow, best of luck to all!

Horsemad · 15/06/2015 21:38

DS currently revising for C4. Not sure how it's going to go.

Littleham · 15/06/2015 21:41

Having to get 90%. The university system has gone mad.

It feels like we are offering up our young to appease the Gods of Mount Olympus.

Horsemad · 15/06/2015 21:43

When/why did required grades become so high?

Totally ridiculous.

Cooroo · 15/06/2015 21:48

Psychology exam tomorrow and that's it! She gets the afternoon/evening to celebrate, then I'll start nagging about the CV. She'll have to get a job for summer as Saturday job has finished. Then we wait for results!

Do parents take results day off work to be 'on hand'? (sorry haven't RTFT right through!)

NiceCardigan · 15/06/2015 21:50

I know Littleham it is all a bit mad. There was an article in the Sunday Times a few weeks ago saying how damaging it is to teens that parents demand all As. Last time I looked it wasn't me demanding anything.

Littleham · 15/06/2015 21:50

I would cooroo. Two days if you think your dd might end up in clearing.

OP posts:
NiceCardigan · 15/06/2015 21:55

I usually take results day off but this year will be off anyway as I'm changing jobs. The exam stress is distracting me from how rubbish working your notice is!

Horsemad · 15/06/2015 21:57

I've got the week off! Grin

We're going away for a few days (to try and relax!!!), returning the evening before results.

bizeemum · 15/06/2015 22:07

DD is on a downer her firm uni has said that if she misses a grade they prefer it to be AAA rather than AAB or AA*B. She has C4 tommorow afternoon and psychology in the morning. It's a no wonder why sometimes our kids end up so stressed and pressured to be straight A kids. Sorry for my rant I'm sure they have their reasons.

Fairenuff · 15/06/2015 22:18

Dd has finished!

That's it!

She's done!

Done with school, college, revision, exams.

Well for now at least Grin

It feels very strange. A big relief to have it all over and done with. Hasn't really sunk in yet. She has plans for the next two to three weeks, then nothing.

Bliss

Good luck to everyone still soldiering on. Not long now, hang on in there x

Cooroo · 15/06/2015 22:29

Thanks Littleham - 2 days holiday booked. Let's hope we can spend them celebrating. Don't want to even think of the alternative.

Horsemad · 15/06/2015 22:53

Congrats Fairenuff, what a lovely feeling that must be. Hope your DD has a great Summer! Smile

MiffyMyKitty · 16/06/2015 00:11

Please may I join in Smile. I'm rather late joining the thread. I'm not sure how I'm suppose to introduce myself not use to chatting on threads so excuse me if I sound daft??... I have a dd hopes to get into Bristol to study mathmatics with philosophy. She also has maths and psychology exam tommorow. DD been lucky so far no wobbles dodgy exams this end (touch wood) wishing you all luck.

GypsyFloss · 16/06/2015 05:24

Congrats Fairenuff what a lovely feeling.

I hope to take results day off and am normally off anyway on the Friday. I'm hoping that I won't need to be too involved but who knows?!
Then I've got it all again the following week with DS. But I'm putting that resolutely out of my mind until after our holiday!

Good luck to those with exams today. DS has his final history GCSE and he's liberated...

circular · 16/06/2015 06:41

Welcome MiffyMyKitty. Good luck for your DD's papers today.

DD had a better revisin day yesterday, some of the stuff she couldn't grasp starting to make sense.

Good luck to those taking C4 and anything else today.
Not much longer now !

Cooroo · 16/06/2015 06:51

Miffy - schizophrenia and media exam? Ashamed I don't know what board DD is doing. I've been so uninvolved with A levels after 11 years of helping with homework! She seems to know what she's doing, I only hope that's borne out in results!

Horsemad · 16/06/2015 06:57

Welcome Miffy Smile

AtiaoftheJulii · 16/06/2015 07:02

Oh, I'm glad she's feeling a bit happier circular :)

And hello Miffy - I did maths and philosophy, good choice there Wink Glad your dd has found her exams so far ok. Does she have another maths paper after today?

My dd1 is doing S2 next Monday, so after today's C4 and Classics, she is going to almost feel like she's done, as she doesn't need to do brilliantly well in S2 (which makes a nice change :) ). Her papers today clash, so she's in this morning and then in isolation.

Good luck to all the C4s today, plus psychology, classics, anything else? Hope all our dc come home happy today!

Horsemad · 16/06/2015 07:17

DS already awake to do some more revision on C4. This one will determine whether he gets an A or B in Maths. Really really need this to go well today.

hellsbells99 · 16/06/2015 07:29

C4 here today. I think this one should be fine but biology tomorrow is still not looking good.
Good luck to all who have exams today.

circular · 16/06/2015 08:28

Horsemad Think we're in a similar situation here with maths, especially after C3. And DD needs at least one A. Two would be better, especially if she doesn't hit a B n Physics - which isn't looking great.
Good luck once again.

muffinmonster · 16/06/2015 08:43

Hi Miffy, welcome to the thread. Hope your DD's exams continue to go well.

circular, glad to hear your DD is feeling a bit better about Maths.

C4 for DD today. She was asked to babysit for a neighbour last night - they didn't get in till 1am! Shock If that was me I'd be shattered for two days. Lucky she's young and resilient - she doesn't seem bothered.

A friend of mine advised me not to plan anything for the few days after results day. She said if your DD goes into clearing, you could be driving off to look at universities you've never visited before and trying to sort out accommodation. I am trying to view this as potentially an exciting adventure.

Thursday is freedom day!!

JWIM · 16/06/2015 09:05

Good luck to all those taking exams today.

Last full day of revision today for DD - just heard that her usual driving route to college was closed due to an accident so relieved that she didn't have an exam this morning. Exams Wed, Thurs and last one, Geography, on Friday afternoon. Then it's party time I believe even though she knows a couple of people who have exams on Monday.

muffin your last para made me smile - love a bit of positivity/irony!
