Exam season starts....

Thanks. Starting to get that awful hollow feeling Envy.

Pre exam nerves when I'm not even doing the stupid exam. Nobody told me about this when I had babies.

Iknwym Littleham. DH is convinced DS will go into Clearing (he prob will, tbf) so I am having to try and keep him upbeat as well as myself. DS isn't voicing any concerns (endless optimist, or naïve more like!)

hellsbells99 · 14/06/2015 20:30

Now got to straighten DD's hair whilst she does a maths paper.....the things I do to help Wink

Littleham · 14/06/2015 20:39

DD2 totally exhausted and has gone to bed. Revision all day. We have strict instructions to make sure she is up at 6.30am. She is an lark. I am an owl. This does not correlate with my sleeping patterns.

Horsemad - I remember preparing for clearing last year. It was like a military operation in this house. We had six phones ready just in case! Hope it doesn't happen for any of us.

hellsbells - the things we end up doing for them. Smile

Sorry not been around for a while- but ds still not working very hard and to be honest doesn't seem all that committed to me- so retakes could be on the horizon- but how do they organise them?.

muffinmonster · 14/06/2015 21:57

circular, DD swears by tthis website: www.examsolutions.net - she says it's not JUST exam solutions but lots of video tutorials too. She also recommends www.physicsandmathstutor.com

Hope your DD is able to get her head round the topic to some degree.

Good luck to all for this coming week. The end is in sight!

Molio · 14/06/2015 22:06

Geography here too. Batty idea to get rid of coursework for a subject like geography.

Yes MrsB it was good to have Durham so clear about their policy. I hope it helps your DD to know Durham wasn't a viable option once she'd firmed elsewhere.

AtiaoftheJulii · 14/06/2015 22:09

Good luck for those with exams tomorrow! Hope all goes well, especially for those with exams on Tuesday/Wednesday too.

Another long day of revision here tomorrow I hope. DD1 has C4 and her second Classics paper on Tuesday.

People must be getting near the end - when does everyone finish?

Molio · 14/06/2015 22:25

Friday at 2.30pm for DS. But I think he's amongst the last (of his friends at least).

Horsemad · 14/06/2015 22:25

24th, can't come quick enough now.

Littleham · 14/06/2015 22:36

Last exam is on Friday afternoon. I can't wait.

Full on meltdown tonight, DD in tears claiming she can't remember anything for tomorrow's exam and this is the one she needs a specific grade in. All we can do is reassure her that in the great scheme of things it doesn't matter and if it does go tits up then she has options.

Wine anyone?

Horsemad · 14/06/2015 23:36

Sympathies Amazing, it's probably nerves - not that that makes any difference to how she feels. Sad

I hope she gets some sleep tonight and wakes up with a 'Can Do' attitude tomorrow. Wine for you, you probably need a bottle! Smile

hellsbells99 · 15/06/2015 00:14

I hope everything looks better for your DD after some sleep Amazing.
I think they have all had enough of it now Sad

circular · 15/06/2015 06:28

Good luck to all DC with Geography, Chemistry and whatever else is on today.

Muffinmonster Thanks for those links, hope DD gets a bit of a last minute grip with all he helpful info that's passed on.

Amazin hope your DD feeling better about it all this morning.

Nothing here today, but have the two worst papers this week. C4 tomorrow pm, then finishing Thursday am with Physics.

GypsyFloss · 15/06/2015 06:32

Much sympathy to everyone who has had a tough weekend. Marianne my DD has been wondering the same thing! It's all such a huge pressure for them.

DD has French today and has managed to climb off the ledge of despair she was on last week and relax a little. I keep reminding her how much she loves this subject and to relax and let that shine through in her writing.

Good luck to all those with exams today. Roll on the end of the week Grin

MrsBartlet · 15/06/2015 06:44

Molio dd was much happier and more settled (IYSWIM) when I told her about Durham, so thanks all for the sharing that info.

We have had our share of meltdowns Amazing - all very stressful. Dd has said she knows nothing but then when she talks it through has surprised herself the she knows more than she thinks she does. The knowledge is in there - it will come out in the stress of the exam!

Dd's last proper exam is on Wednesday and then General Studies on Thursday and that is that. Good luck to all for this week.

Mindgone · 15/06/2015 08:16

Exams today, tue, and last one wed! GrinWineSmile freedom day as it's now known in this house! We are all so ready for them to be over! Best of luck to all with exams this week, and hang in there, it's the home stretch now! Smile

JWIM · 15/06/2015 08:39

Best of luck to all those DC taking exams this week and sending positive vibes to those having a wobble.

DD finishes on Friday pm - only 1/3 done so far but keeping up a steady pace and surprisingly calm this year compared to GCSE/AS exams.

AmazingDisgrace · 15/06/2015 08:54

Thanks everyone, you're support, as ever, is really lovely. I made her go and have a shower to calm down and then let her recite stuff at me. It at least showed her she does know it. Huge attack of nerves I guess. I just hope this paper isn't vile now.

Littleham · 15/06/2015 09:07

Really hoping your dd has a good paper today Amazing. So hard to know how to help when they are stressed.

My dd has now started her exam. Shock

bizeemum · 15/06/2015 09:28

Good luck everyone with exams. Fingers crossed, hope your dc comes home with a smile, hopefully no sad faces. DD has maths tommorow, making her a mountain of sticky bbq chicken wings and DH going to fetch a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts to keep her happy, the end is nigh she finishes all her exam by the end of the week.

HocusUcas · 15/06/2015 11:45

Molio, I have my fingers crossed for your Ds in his Geography exam today - it's a big subject to learn with no coursework.

Good luck to all other DCs with exams today and this week.
