Thanks.

We're north of the border so several of his pals have had unconditional offers today as they had their SQA Higher results in August 2014. Oh the power of iPhone! A flurry of offers starting to ping in for them and so little work being done at school. Already two of them have announced they might not sit their end of Year 13 / S6 exams and are going off to party!

Maybe track not updating for a few days isn't such a bad thing and I am beginning to see why the school waits until nearer the end of term to send their forms...

Ha! I'm assuming his friends' parents will have something to say on the matter. I suppose it will depend on whether they have listed some of these intended exams on their UCAS applications. I'm not sure of the 'ins' and 'outs' as haven't been following it that closely.

However knowing one of the lads I'm pretty sure a weekend of celebrations has already started...

Well done to your dd though, great that she has her offer in her pocket. I hope her health issues diminish fast and she keeps well.

My DS has a part time job so his partying this weekend will be strictly limited Grin

hellsbells99 · 22/12/2014 07:42

Merry Xmas all, and get well soon Polka.
I am hoping DD1 does a lot of revising over Xmas ready for her mocks - she has been spending a lot of time both partying and working, and neglecting her school work.

I hope you are all better for Xmas mumslife.
DD has still not heard back from her Nottingham interview - they did say they would hear be the end of Dec whether they had an offer, were 'on hold' or were rejected, but I am assuming most staff will be off until after the New Year now. On a brighter note, she has applied for accommodation at Manchester and I think that will be her 'firm'.

muffinmonster · 22/12/2014 11:15

Merry Christmas to everyone and get well soon to polkadotty and mumslife and DD. Good luck to your DD, hellsbells, hope she hears form Nottingham soon.

QuicheLemon · 22/12/2014 14:28

Is it safe to conclude that nothing more is likely come through the UCAS portal before January? One offer and one acknowledgement only so far.

Also just mentioning for those who squirrel funds away that when my January salary comes through I have set up a 2015 fund for a new lap top and iPhone for DS for September and his uni life. To be fair wish I'd thought of this sooner.

Am putting £80 a month by as a parental contribution towards his bill which is likely to be in excess of £1400 for a mac book and phone. His current phone is a second hand iphone 4 and his macbook will be six years old by then. Have told him that I'm expecting him to be matching the same amount from his part time earnings and I'm going to suggest he physically hands me the cash for me to return if he thinks he ll blow it else wise.

Just marking his card before his Xmas funds disappear Wink

hellsbells99 · 22/12/2014 14:41

Quiche - has your DS got an NUS card? If so, you can sign on through that and get 15% off a Macbook.

QuicheLemon · 22/12/2014 15:16

Don't know if he knows that. Great tip, hellsbells, thanks. He was talking about education discount at Apple when there is a student offer on in July/ August I think as that's how he came by his macbook when his older cousin helped him buy it... some deal involving a macbook and free ipod which suited them both at the time.

Just thinking that if we have to pay up front for his accommodation and his technology is beginning to fail I need to have money set aside and I can only do it a bit at at a time. He also needs to realise he's expected to contribute.

Decided I'll just get a medium sized turkey and not a large one tomorrow in M&S Grin and maybe I won't look at the John Lewis bed linen sale

polkadottyme · 22/12/2014 18:18

Thanks webwiz, Cathy, circular, hellsbells, mumslife and muffin. Been prescribed antibiotics today so no alcholoic drinks eitherSad. I'm fed up with soup diet cathy I'm sure going to make up for it after Xmas ive missed out on 2 Christmas party dinners at work already. quiche lemon my other half popped into m&s for a turkey tonight couldn't find any medium ones only ginormous ones that wont fit our oven. So he got a turkey crown. He did ring me in the store in a panic poor man. He said it was bedlam in there??. No place for bloke he said. hellsbells good luck with Nottingham mine is also gone partying neglecting school work. Its nice to see mine looking like a lady for once she's normally makeup free in casual jeans and shirt.

Horsemad · 22/12/2014 20:30

Merry Christmas everyone! I've finished work today until Jan. Christmas has started in Horsemad House! Grin

Hope everyone recovers in time for the festivities.

My two have done no revision since they broke up last week, they need to get their heads in books once Christmas Day is done!

Continued Good Luck wishes to all those still waiting for replies etc...

webwiz · 22/12/2014 21:39

I've finished work for Christmas, DH has man flu (I have run out of sympathy as he seems to be able to manage going out for Christmas drinks but can't do anything useful at home) and PILs are arriving tomorrow. Schoolwork has been abandoned by DS but DD2 is setting a good example revising like mad for January uni exams. I have taken to Wine even though its a monday.

hellsbells99 · 23/12/2014 12:26

I finish work later today but went out early this morning to finish off the food shopping. Still got to wrap the DDs' presents yet. Then tomorrow tidy house ready for visitors arriving mid afternoon - but out tonight so I may have a bit of a hangover tomorrow Xmas Wink
Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Smile

circular · 23/12/2014 22:41

Quiche wasn't expecting any further replies here till new year. But DD got an interview/audition date through for one of her choices yesterday pm.

hellsbells99 · 23/12/2014 23:42

DD got an update from Ucas this evening and Nottingham have given her an offer. According to DD2, they phoned our house to talk to her this afternoon but DD1 was at work. So good news as a lot of applicants are posting on TSR that they have been put on hold until March.
Merry Christmas all!

hellsbells99 · 23/12/2014 23:43

Forgot to say well done to Circular's DD!

Horsemad · 24/12/2014 07:58

Brilliant news for both circular & hellsbells!

Have a great Christmas everyone! Grin
