AmazingDisgrace · 09/12/2014 22:34

Oh Mumslife, your poor girl Sad I'm sure you've been down every avenue but just in case..My dentist recently lengthened my incisors as they were too short causing slight jaw misalignment and neck/headache.
Poor girl :( My only other thought is Naproxen, it's stronger than ibuprofen and worked for me. I think it's available otc in a well known period pain med

Mindgone · 09/12/2014 23:58

Congratulations to all recent offer holders! It must be so reassuring to have a few! Only one here, not expecting any more for some time.

Mumslife, am presuming someone has checked whether your DD has migraines? I can't remember seeing it mentioned. I had bad headaches for years, starting when I was a teenager, that would last for days. I was asked if they were migraines, but always said no, because no one had said they were. Years later, I went to a professional talk about headaches, and some of the described symptoms applied to me. I went to my GP ( saw a locum), who gave me some migraine tablets, saying that if they work it probably is migraine, and if they don't it's probably not. They were wonderful! Headaches gone within an hour! Sorry for rambling, just thought this may help. Hope your DD gets sorted soon.

Well done to Waiting's ds for the Durham offer (another bottle of wine for you too). Congratulations to everyone else for offers.

What a worry for you mumslife. Has the doctor looked into things like ME? Thank goodness your dd has unconditional offers - at least that will take some of the pressure off her this year.

Mumslife just a couple if extra thoughts re your DDs headaches.
Agree with the migraine possibility, especially if sickness as well.

Is your DD eating regularly and healthily and not skipping meals?
Can she cut out cheese and chocolate (most common migraine triggers) and see if it improves?

I was diagnosed 'tension headaches' in my early twenties. Newly married, and lots if work stress. Totally different to the symptons you described. Pain pressing on top of head, only lasted about half a day and always on Saturdays when starting to unwind. Never any sickness with them.
Of course, could gave been wrong back then.

Another thought - is your DD up to date on eye tests?

dd has received a essage from one of her offers. It is from the head of dept commending her for the strength of her application. Has anyone had this from anywhere? Its from the offer that is possibly a little to high for her to reach by one grade. Does the email mean anything or is it simply a nice 'thing' I'm totally overthinking this yes?

That's what I thought but its unlikely unless they lower the offer to ABB, it was her joint top choice alongside QMUL and they've given her a dream of an offer, lower than they usually give but she'd give this some serious thought if they dropped to ABB

circular · 10/12/2014 13:25

That sounds promising Amazing.

Difficult choice if the one she likes equally is a more realistic offer though.

No offers here yet, DD very jumpy with her email. 4 out of 5 acknowledgements. Expecting a longish wait as all slightly above predictions.

Mindgone · 10/12/2014 13:46

Mumslife, not sure if your DD is doing this already, but it's a really good idea to make a short diary. Each day entering sleep, what she eats and when, and headaches with a pain scale of 1 - 10, what painkillers taken and how effective they were. A pattern may emerge, and at the very least will give the doctor more information to go on.
