We are all rooting for her littleham

muffinmonster · 10/12/2014 17:55

littleham, hope your DD's interview went well. My DD has had an interview today at Strathclyde. She nearly missed her plane to Glasgow: when she got to the airport it was showing one hour delay, so she sat and read her book Then she looked up and the plane was miraculously back on schedule and showing 'final call. So she had to sprint to the gate.

circular Two of DD's offers were above her predictions but they both got back fairly quickly - one VERY quickly with an offer and one with an interview.

HocusUcas · 10/12/2014 17:58

Littleham. DS had interview after lunch - haven't heard a squeak. Joining you in feeling absurdly nervous.

Littleham · 10/12/2014 18:03

Hope he contacts you soon. This is awful isn't it? I don't mind her not getting in, but I want it to be a nice experience. I know she was stressing out.

Littleham, I hope your dd Is okay.

How stressful for your dd, muffinmonster, glad to hear she made the flight!!

Littleham · 10/12/2014 18:13

muffin What a close call! I'm glad we have no planes to deal with... Hope the interview at Strathclyde went well and that she found somewhere nice to go nearby.

Fingers crossed for Littleham and Muffin DDs. and Hocus DS.

A very surprised DD has first offer, although from the one she chose for the wrong reasons lol.

muffinmonster · 10/12/2014 18:53

circular that's great news! Even if it's not her ideal, it's just so nice to think that someone looked at her application and her personal statement and thought 'Yes'. Hope the others come rolling in soon.

Littleham- I've got everything crossed for her :)
Muffin- I bet you and dd were relieved. The nightmare that we were talking about in earlier post nearly came true thank goodness she had some luck.
Cicular- your off the starting mark horray! Hope the offers carry on coming.
Amazing- sounds promising getting a nice comment about her application especially from admission tutors and I thought they were a scary lot. Umm maybe its a hint that they would take her even if she didn't make the offer.

polkadottyme · 10/12/2014 20:14

Orrr I missed the ashi123 post i wasn't fast enough reading it before it got deleted??? Did I miss much???

Eastwickwitch · 10/12/2014 21:32

Best of luck for all those that had interviews this week and Flowers to the DMs worrying at home.
DS has had an offer from Cardiff for ABB which seems reasonable

Littleham · 10/12/2014 21:40

Well done on the offers Eastwickwitch and circular.

DD said interviewers were nice. One down, another one tomorrow and possibly more colleges on Friday. What a marathon - we had no idea!

HoHonutty · 10/12/2014 21:44

Amazing, can your DD reply and say she was hoping for a lower offer? Can they lower it now, does anyone know?

HoHonutty · 10/12/2014 21:46

Glad it's going well so far Littleham.

Horsemad · 10/12/2014 23:04

Hi everyone! Well done on the offers circular & Eastwick.
Sending good luck for the interviews too!

We're still waiting on M'cr... Has anyone looked at the Student Finance website yet? I haven't braved it yet Grin

Horsemad · 10/12/2014 23:09

Amazing, I would think they really like your DD's application and are trying to tempt her to Firm them Smile

AmazingDisgrace · 10/12/2014 23:16

Polkadotty, Hoho and Horsemad..yes she felt that they must've really liked her PS and are 'chatting her up' to firm them. I have suggested that she replies and explains that she is unsure whether she will meet their offer and would firm them on a grade lower offer. I did say to only do this if she was 100% sure she would actually firm them and I checked their admissions policy to check they couldn't think "hmm cheeky madam" and withdraw the original offer too! She's mulling it over, I think she was so bowled over by the offer from QMUL which was essentially the same level of chatting up but on a more practical level Grin

Glad its going well Littleham, DD has a friend there as well going through the same thing for Maths

circular · 10/12/2014 23:20

Horsemad looked briefly at student finance calculators. Very confusing, especially when unclear if likely to be in London or not.

circular · 11/12/2014 06:59

Re the finance again, noted that it wants to know students none too. So if they currently have a part tune jib that I us possible could be continuing (large retailer, may transfer to Uni town, or if staying in hone town) does that go in?

Also if firm and insurance one London, one not?
If they are local enough to commute but put in for accommodation and are nit allocated, or allocated sinethubg too expensive do end up staying home?

Also gather fir 2015 starters, income related to 2013/14 financial year. So is that the dame for student income?

If they get a part time job while at Uni, could that affect their future year loans?

Get the feeling some if thus will be irrelevant for DD as looking line will only get the minimum loan. Which doesnt even cover the accommodation costs for most of her choices.
