Haha! I just burst out laughing at this being a confessional come July!

iv really struggled today. I was awake really early and then up at 6am and just been tired all day.

iv just forced myself out a walk and actually feel better for the fresh air.

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo it all adds up

@GoldenSongbird ballet sounds like a fun thing to do. Sadly I lack any sort of grace for such a think! 😂

OP posts:
GoldenSongbird · 21/06/2022 19:59

I'm not graceful at all. I found videos on Youtube where they do very gentle ballet exercises. I use the worktop as a barre and pretend I'm a prima ballerina in a beautiful tutu ... rather than a very overweight woman in a maxi dress and bare feet Grin

I think I'm trying to make up for my childhood. All my sisters were amazing at ballet. I absolutely hated it. I walked out about age 7 and refused to go back. Generally, I was very biddable so the teacher must have really upset me! Now, I'm trying to reclaim my space as a ballerina 😂

I'm so hungry today but I'm going to distract myself with a mini weights workout.

mapleleavesreturn · 21/06/2022 20:31

Another failed ballet dancer here - my sister was talented, so I was dragged along every Saturday despite a formidable dearth of talent!

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2022 09:11

@runningpink i tried a run yesterday and was absolutely rubbish! Even more than usual, basically gave up and walked. Steps and calorie burn for the day still good though, though I was at a gig and had a few wines.

Today I’m either going to go and do some weights, or a spin class, but it’s 45 minutes, which scares me 🤣

I was obsessed with ballet as a child, but when four or five it was made clear to me that I was far too hefty for it, mainly by my dad, so I contented myself with books about dainty ballerinas.

For any aspiring ballet dancers, Scottish Ballet does online classes!

GoldenSongbird · 22/06/2022 10:55

Oh I didn't know about the Scottish Ballet classes. I'm going to look them up. Thanks! Yy to reading ballet books. I loved the Noel Streatfield books.

I've lost 7lbs this week Shock Obviously I'm very heavy and at the point where small tweaks make a massive difference and it includes water weight but I wouldn't have done it without this thread so thank you everyone Flowers

mapleleavesreturn · 22/06/2022 11:38

7 lbs!! That's amazing in any circumstance - well done @GoldenSongbird

Ugh had a really sick child for 5 days, she's just turned the corner. It hasn't been a dieting highlight week, I must be due one!

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2022 11:56

Oh bloody hell, that’s brilliant @GoldenSongbird !

@mapleleavesreturn its just a nightmare sometimes. You’ll get there! Glad she’s on the mend

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/06/2022 18:58

Oh amazing @GoldenSongbird I'm so pleased for you! Well done, keep it up!

Sorry to hear about poorly child @mapleleavesreturn glad she's starting to improve.

Forgot to weigh myself this morning but I have had a swimming lesson and went for a run this afternoon. Only a 15 minute one, I'm trying a new Les mills run programme, but it has sprints etc. in it for will hopefully help me build up to longer runs. I can't face trying to finish #c25K again!

Swimming lessons are coming along, it would be amazing to be able to swim unaided by the time I go on holiday. Fingers crossed!!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/06/2022 07:29

Another pound off this week, woo hoo! Still 5lbs off my dream holiday weight, but I'm still pretty pleased with where I'm at!

mapleleavesreturn · 23/06/2022 08:15

wow @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo that's amazing!! Day 6 and she's still not well enough to go back to school, she's a bit better but not really eating. They break up next week anyway :)

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2022 08:31

Oh well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ! And on the swimming too. Going to be a great holiday 😊

@mapleleavesreturn oh poor dd (and you!). I’m lucky in that my boy is 14 so I can continue my efforts through the holidays. Hopefully rope him in too

mapleleavesreturn · 23/06/2022 10:47

This is the sickest she's ever been to date - worrying. You've got to wonder if it's because they've not had much for a couple of years - except covid obviously!

runningpink · 23/06/2022 12:06

Aw poor little maple. Hope she is better soon

Well done on the weight loss folks! Your all doing so well

Do any of you have go to things you would make of you were hosting a few friends?
I was thinking a bbq but that’s weather depending, but not sure what I’d all cook for it

For a garden party type thing rather than a sit down meal. Bonus pints for simple!

OP posts:
mapleleavesreturn · 23/06/2022 12:14

I'm awful at social events - but Tescos do a good frozen party bits range, I'd probably buy that and stuff it the oven, maybe a quiche ....thanks for the good wishes @runningpink .

Tescos do nice Spanish egg tortillas that are always a hit and good with their part bake baguettes.

pasta salads are easy too.

I've never, ever see anyone seriously tuck into the bowl of salad at a garden party/BBQ type thing!

GoldenSongbird · 23/06/2022 13:01

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo on the weight loss and the swimming! In theory, I can swim but I'm such a poor swimmer I do wonder if I should take some lessons.

Poor mini maple @mapleleavesreturn I hope she feels better soon. My teen has been moping around with a sore throat for a few days. lft was negative but today his glands look a bit swollen and I'm reading up about mumps.

@runningpink we don't often have garden parties but you could make mini muffins- sweet or savoury; Spanish omelette; mini pancakes/blinis; pate; hummus; cheese; antipasti; olives.

LunchPoems · 23/06/2022 13:13

For a bbq/garden party I’d do nice cold meats, crusty bread, dip in nice olive oil for Mediterranean loveliness and save having to have butter melting and butter knives. Potato salad with either dill or chives/spring onions; curried rice salad or Greek salad. Bbq halloumi and peppers and red onions on skewers or on the net things that sit on the bbq to stop stuff falling through. Marguez sausages, or lamb steaks, Greek yoghurt with garlic and cucumber.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2022 13:14

Forgot my name change, that was me 😃

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/06/2022 19:26

Oh I love a summer party. Here's my buffet go to list:

Cold meats (do a roast ham or buy in - M&S food to order is one option)
Potato salad
A platter of this, but just drizzle with balsamic glaze foodnetwork.co.uk/recipes/parma-ham-summer-salad/
Sticky sausages (Nigella)
Big bowl of humous (make or buy) and crumble feta cheese over it and sprinkle with pomegranate seeds
Mini pork pies halved or quartered (M&S do good ones)
Ready cooked chicken drumsticks - M&S again, serve cold or put in oven
Bread (tesco do a cranberry & walnut loaf which is fab)
Crudités
Breadstick
Cheese - if people ask if they can being anything, say, something for the cheeseboard
Crisps, nuts, pretzels, fancy breadsticks
Chutneys
Coleslaw
Plate of anti pasta meats artfully scattered with a few rocket leaves and olives if not doing Parma ham salad above.

runningpink · 24/06/2022 12:58

Thanks all for the food ideas.

Just need to work out if I have a free weekend to host one easily!

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2022 20:26

Well, had last PT session before holiday today, and it was mental cardio… but! He was amazed by how much my fitness had come on, and my determination not to be beaten 🤣 So thanks guys!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 24/06/2022 20:40

Aw, brilliant, well done. When do you go, this weekend?

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2022 21:11

Early tomorrow- possibly shouldn’t have drink wine 😳🤣

GoldenSongbird · 25/06/2022 13:42

Well done @WouldBeGood have a fab holiday too!

mapleleavesreturn · 25/06/2022 14:09

Have an amazing time would

runningpink · 26/06/2022 17:54

Have a brilliant holiday @WouldBeGood you definitely deserve one!

My steps haven’t been as good this week but still 14k average a day over the week but I did mange 2x weights. Will try and hit 3x this week.

Been a long and hilly cycle today. Furthest iv gone since probably September last year! So have stuffed my face all afternoon as was starving. I really fancy a wine so think I’ll have one.

Working extra this week so will have to make a real effort to go walks or runs before work.

How has everyone’s weekend been?
