How is everyone doing? Especially those now back from holidays?

Im feeling much better mentally but I am glad I have the counselling appointment this week just to talk things through

I stayed the same this week which I’m happy about since I had a weekend of drinking and not being able to weigh food etc

30 mile cycle completed this morning and it’s rather hot!

mapleleavesreturn · 11/07/2022 23:03

30 miles! Determined to have a good week here. Fear there was holiday weight gain - just creeps up as soon as I take my eye off the ball...

WouldBeGood · 12/07/2022 03:04

Well, drawing a veil over the French guzzling.. 😳 Good start with spin on Sunday morning but was lazy and drank wine yesterday: can’t get out of holiday mode! Must do better!

Well done @runningpink ! Well on track 😊

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/07/2022 04:55

Hi everyone, still on holiday here. Trying to make healthy-ish choices on the eating front, but we are all inclusive so lots of food and wine being consumed!

I had planned to be relatively active while here - swimming, using the gym etc. but I've been ill with an awful sore throat, chesty cough etc. Managing to power through and enjoy holiday but lounging by the pool is about as much activity as I can manage.

Will no doubt need to get back on the calorie counting when I'm back!

runningpink · 13/07/2022 07:14

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo sorry that your aren’t feeling well especially when your on holiday. Lying by the pool sounds like the best remedy.

Im feeling super motivated so long may it continue. Also been less hungry this week so hopefully that’s my body getting used to eating less calories and eating better.

@mapleleavesreturn and @WouldBeGood how is your week going?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 13/07/2022 08:06

Oh, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo that’s such a shame. Sod’s bloody law! Hope you feel better soon.

@runningpink yay! Pleased to hear you’re motivated and on it.

I am not.. must get to gym or old lady jog this morning. My eating has not been great either. Need to find my mojo

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/07/2022 09:28

Thanks both. Well done on the motivation @runningpink and I hope you find your mojo soon @WouldBeGood

I'm a bit grumpy. Against our better judgement we're on an organised bus tour. I coughed (into my elbow etc) and apparently someone across the aisle put her plus child's mask on and moved seats. FFS. People do have common garden ailments.

And someone accused us of queue jumping when all we'd done was extrapolate ourselves from the middle of another tour group while in the (very long) queue for something. Ranting at us that they'd been queuing for half an hour and it was not right we were in front of them. We'd followed them towards the queue around 10 mins earlier. 😂

GoldenSongbird · 13/07/2022 12:42

I'd lost this thread. After my stellar start, I've just stuck at that weight ☹.

We're doing lots of short trips this summer - weekends with friend; a week away; another long weekend with friends, etc. I'm walking lots when we're away but not enough when home. I'm going to try to catch up this week before we're off again.

mapleleavesreturn · 14/07/2022 09:19

It's not a holiday without someone being unnecessarily rude is it @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ? My daughter gave a child waiting for the airport screen toy a turn after 5 mins, the other child then hogged it for 40 mins with her mum sat chatting on her phone and completely ignoring us!

Things going well this week, I'm giving up dairy although I'm allowing myself a pecorino exception from time to time as I can't contemplate a life without sheep's cheese ever again...

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/07/2022 16:32

Welcome back @GoldenSongbird we all plateau a bit sometimes, you'll get back on it.

Agreed @mapleleavesreturn there's been a bit more rudeness today which has been annoying. I'm ashamed to say there seems to have been an influx of Brits yesterday and behaviour around the resort has definitely changed.

I did an aqua aerobics class today. Great fun! I'm planning on doing it again tomorrow. Though the highlight of my day was an afternoon in the spa!

mapleleavesreturn · 15/07/2022 10:27

Finally braved scales post holiday, could be worse! Now just need to crank down 2 Kg is the next target for next time I'm brave enough to face the scales!

WouldBeGood · 15/07/2022 18:22

Hello, all

Impressed @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo with your efforts and also restraint with the rude people!

@GoldenSongbird Hello! You can can get back on it 💪

That’s a relief @mapleleavesreturn - scary weigh in, I’ve not braved one yet

Went to gym on Wednesday and pt today. Been logging, but somewhat sporadically. Booked an extra pt session next week to get back on it, and ds is back so will be making proper healthy meals again.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/07/2022 09:36

Morning all! Back home and braved the scales. Around half a stone heavier than pre-hols. 😳 Hopefully some of that will be water weight due to all the wine etc. I think my period is also due (perimenopausal so not entirely reliable on dates) which always accounts for a pound or two too.

But, had a fab holiday and thanks to support from this thread, that extra stone I've lost since Christmas really made the difference in me being happy and comfortable in a summer clothes, shorts, swimwear etc. on holiday. So thank you all.

Right, where's that calorie counting app...

mapleleavesreturn · 17/07/2022 09:56

Reasonably back on the straight and narrow here - must keep off the wine, it's always that leading into other diet pitfalls!

WouldBeGood · 18/07/2022 08:15

I haven’t even braved the scales @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo 😃 I too felt better in summer clothes, and coped with the heat better - need kicked into action again though, I want to be a good bit slimmer by next year’s holiday, and keep up the fitness.

@mapleleavesreturn I’m finding it really hard to stay off the wine too: I still feel in holiday mode.

@runningpink how are you?

right, I’m getting sorted and off to spin to start the week on the right note

mapleleavesreturn · 18/07/2022 08:18

It's the weather wouldbegoood it's just so much nicer drinking wine in the sunshine...must be tough! I'm having a good week.

This chart is amazing - I had no idea sausages were bad for you too...I'm going to cut back as we both have grandparents who had bowel cancer, one of them fairly young:

runningpink · 18/07/2022 09:12

Hi all,

I wasn’t great at tracking or eating last week. I was busy making an item that I do as a hobby for someone so that kind of took over.

Im 100% committed this week. I’m down 3.5 Ibs in two weeks but know I could be doing better.
Water, steps and exercise all fine just my usual food aspect!

Iv resisted the alcohol all weekend! But that might be harder next two days!
I want to pick when weather is like this not eat proper meals but I’m determined.

Glad everyone has had good holidays and that you are back motivated again.

Just been a run…maybe a bit too hot!

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/07/2022 11:01

Hi everyone!

Hard to stay off the wine here too @WouldBeGood and @mapleleavesreturn . I started tracking yesterday but was well over due to wine and crisps

It's always tricky post holiday isn't it? Especially when the weather is nice! We have friends staying later in the week and that's bound to be boozy too.

But I'm also hoping to be a wee bit lighter with a few less wobbly bits when I go on holiday next year so I was off for a very short run this morning before it got too warm. It's one of the Les mills 'get started with running' workouts, but it does have sprints etc. so good to re-acquaint myself with some exercise, even if it might take longer to get back on calorie consumption track.

Well done on the weight loss @runningpink that's great! It was a bit hot for running, I wish I'd gone out an hour earlier like my DH did!

mapleleavesreturn · 18/07/2022 17:10

Ah wine and crisps, the diet wrecking duo! Not too bad a day here, must resist the lure of gin tonight!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/07/2022 12:51

Ha, love 'diet wrecking duo' (which is the problem...)

3Ibs lighter today than the Sunday morning weigh in. I've not been starving myself, so must be water retention from all the holiday wine.

WouldBeGood · 19/07/2022 13:08

Just shows you , @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo how it’s not worth getting too hung up on the number on the scales.

Got PT this afternoon as my extra session to nail the fitness 💪

mapleleavesreturn · 19/07/2022 13:14

Tbh I'm really wanting more to be healthier and feel better, don't get me wrong the suitcase of too small clothes under the bed I'd like to get back into but mostly I want to wake up feeling well and on top of life!

My weight zags around too - always nice to see the number decreasing!

WouldBeGood · 19/07/2022 13:30

I want to lose more weight too @mapleleavesreturn , don’t get me wrong!

Im looking in it as if I lost a pound a week for a year I’d be over 3 stones lighter this time next year! Obviously, I won’t manage that, but even half of it would be good.

mapleleavesreturn · 19/07/2022 13:34

I completely agree, if I lost 1/2 stone in 6 months it'd be better progress than the last 3 years!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/07/2022 15:23

Well done braving the PT in this heat @WouldBeGood ! I don't think I can face exercise today.

Agree on the scales, ups and downs are fine but good to have a steady decline over a longer period. A colleague is trying to crash diet for her wedding in two months, she's jumped from one diet to another when really she just needs to eat regularly but healthier and move a bit more. It's quite sad.
