Im on holiday a few days this week hence the increase in steps.
29k steps
3 mile run
Around 9 miles of walks
Morning Pilates and evening class

I was really good with weighing out food portions and tracking.
Until I got home at 8.30pm and was so hungry I was craving sugar so I had something. And I finished the last glass of wine that was left in a bottle. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hoping the exercise and steps compensated to a certain extent

Oh I hope you enjoyed the chippy tea. So yummy!

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo amd @WouldBeGood even just 10 mins walk round your block once or twice a day helps add up the steps

I keep meaning to do weights but i just can’t get in to them at all.
Will make that next weeks goal

I'm not surprised you were hungry @runningpink!

Just done bodypump. Not loving it at the mo, partly because I have a boggle in my shoulder and partly because I'm not consistent at it just now so I'm finding it harder to complete. The answer is to keep doing it though...

Good day on the calorie front. Really fancy a couple of glasses of wine but will resist and save the calories for tomorrow!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/06/2022 18:45

Niggle in my shoulder, not a boggle!

WouldBeGood · 16/06/2022 20:07

Well done guys!

Ive been a wee run, and made a bbq but made sea bass, so ok calorie wise! Wine though.

I’ve noticed that trying to up my steps takes my calorie burn right up, so trying again on that. Worthwhile!

runningpink · 16/06/2022 20:23

I like the idea of a boggle in the shoulder! 😂

My leg has been bothering me the last few days so made the decision to be sensible and not run today or tomorrow and see how it is.
Thankfully have a sports massage booked for next week. Just hope it’s not another set back

I wasn’t organise today and iv gone rogue with the food! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Away a walk to get some steps (only at 8k) and attempt to claw back a little of the junk iv eaten todaY

Busy weekend ahead so will try and make sensible choices but enjoy myself at same time.

Just think if you stick with it in no time you will be loving ot and I bet you see an improvement quickly @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

That's interesting on the steps and calorie burn @WouldBeGood. I've noticed that on days I'm running around lots, errands, in town etc. my overall calorie burn is pretty similar to days I do a class.

Fingers crossed on the leg @runningpink. I really should get my shoulder checked:

How is your knee btw @WouldBeGood

I've gone slightly over on my cals - shitty day so had a couple of small glasses of wine. But it was a needs must kinda day!

runningpink · 17/06/2022 07:01

I’m out a walk now instead of a run. Hoping to have time for 5k

Lunch is made up and weighed/recorded.

I follow team RH on Facebook. And they say 15k steps is the ideal but a lot of folk do 10k and still lose the weight. Also suggest I think 3-5 weights sessions a week.

WouldBeGood · 17/06/2022 14:46

Yes, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo , I think it shows as well how lockdown impacted weight: it’s not just the official exercise that was curtailed, but also the day to day bustling about. And just making the effort to use up a few extra steps here and there is making a difference.

i haven’t weighed for ages, but today I tried on a Didrikson jacket I bought years ago and have been too fat for for ages, and it fit. Sad I need to look out a rain jacket mind you!

sounds good @runningpink . I do think planning is the best way, but don’t always do it!

WouldBeGood · 17/06/2022 14:48

Oh, and @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo the knee is fine for running, but was sore when sitting on the floor the other day, thanks for asking! I’m going to leave combat and yoga for a while longer before getting back.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/06/2022 19:12

The walking thing is interesting definitely. During lockdown we went for a lunchtime or morning walk every day which really helped. But I've out of the habit on my WFH days (DH and I did the walk together but now he goes to office when I'm at home and I now mostly drive when I'm in the office so I miss oyster on the good 30 minute in total walk to and from the bus stop. I could start getting the bus but, I can drop DH off saving £7 in bus fare (still, for now anyway, more than the cost of petrol) and I get home in half the time so can fit in 'proper' exercise before dinner.

I do have a 2 hour hill walk planned tomorrow though, which will hopefully offset some weekend calories (we have visitors so more booze and snacking than normal in the name of good hosting 😂)

GoldenSongbird · 17/06/2022 20:10

Dh bought new scales and I'm much heavier than I thought Shock but hopefully it's given me the shock I need to stick to eating healthily and exercising.
I tend to be fairly sedentary during the week (except for my yoga) and then try to fit in more exercise at the weekends. But my DSIS visited unexpectedly so we went out for a long walk.
I'm so impatient to see results! I don't remember being this impatient in the past.
It's interesting that you're all noticing a difference when you increase your steps. Walking never seems to impact my weight much. I've bought a new set of little mini wrist and ankle weights so I can exercise whilst sitting about Grin

mapleleavesreturn · 17/06/2022 20:48

Oooh where did you get the ankle and wrist weights? Exercising whilst sitting around sounds like my kind of thing!

CodeNamechange · 17/06/2022 20:51

I put off exercising for years as I was in agony every time always pulling muscles. I thought there was something wrong with me. then I learnt you're meant to do a warm up, then stretches where I don't over stretch, then the workout and not to over exert myself

GoldenSongbird · 18/06/2022 08:22

mapleleavesreturn · 17/06/2022 20:48

They were just from Amazon.
Many years ago when I was a student (and callanetics was all the rage!) I had a set of ankle and wrist weights and I'd put them on to do my exercises; and when I was reading or watching TV. I got into the habit of doing leg raises etc whenever I was sitting about ... which makes me sound insufferable 😄 but it was only in the privacy of my own room 😂

Nowadays I have to lie down quite often because of my hip problem so I figure I can put the weights on and do leg exercises whilst I'm lying about.

runningpink · 20/06/2022 15:48

How did everyone’s weekend go?

Im going with hit and miss for me. Food could definitely have been better but hard when I wasn’t at home most of weekend.
Exercise was pretty good. Runs Saturday and Sunday. 35k steps over the two days

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 20/06/2022 16:49

Wow on the steps again @runningpink !

i had PT on Friday which was hard work! Went a “run” Saturday morning, but also ate and drank too much. Overall, though , I’m pleased I kept moving. Took a no exercise day yesterday to let my old bones recover. Todays calories ok and wee bit at gym later.

WouldBeGood · 20/06/2022 16:50

Oh, meant to ask, I’m
off on holiday for two weeks at the end of the week. I’m a bit nervous of just throwing out the plan for that long! What’s everyone else planning for their holidays?

mapleleavesreturn · 20/06/2022 18:36

A week in Tuscany - in my mind it's all big salads, in reality gelato, artisan pizza and lots of red wine (still just as calorific)! Can't wait - was in the chemist today as dc2 really under the weather, had shitty sleepless weekend and just wanted to roll around in the suntan lotion and anti mosquito sprays - ooooh holiday!

I'm hoping our return flight gets canceled frankly!

@runningpink 35k? I just can't even imagine, amazing achievement!

runningpink · 20/06/2022 19:04

I’m going on holiday later in the year and plan to enjoy myself but also not go crazy.
I will also be doing plenty exercise on holiday which should help the balance a little.

So I guess dont deprive yourself but maybe choose som healthier things from time to time. Limit ice cream treats? Do a bit of walking?

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/06/2022 19:17

Far too much food and drink here at the weekend (we had guests) but did some exercise. Nowhere near @runningpink step count though, amazing!

I started today well, and went for a lunchtime stroll to get some steps in, but, sun was out and DS persuaded me to fire up the bbq. I at loads, but very high in protein I guess... 😳 I did have a swimming lesson too though, so that helps.

Holidays - I'm going to enjoy myself. Not count. But try and make some healthy-ish choices. Then come on here to get re-motivated!!

GoldenSongbird · 20/06/2022 19:55

35k steps is amazing! My steps count was rubbish at the weekend.
I'm going to do ballet or yoga tonight.

We're going to be away in the camper for most of the holidays which means I tend to eat lots of snacks, less meals and more alcohol 🍸 but lots of walking too. We're hoping to be catch up with friends so there will definitely be some over indulgence on those days. I can't wait.

WouldBeGood · 20/06/2022 20:16

@mapleleavesreturn laughing about the immersion in the holiday products! Know exactly what you mean! And about the return flight 🤣

Yeah, sounds like we’re all agreed on being a bit mindful, try to get some exercise in, but enjoy the holiday food! And wine! Rude not to experience the local culture 😃

Im going to France, and really love bread, wine, cheese, and pate so may be tricky.

At least I feel more confident now I can come back, confess on here, and get my arse into gear again!

mapleleavesreturn · 20/06/2022 20:35

Cheese is the reason I could never entertain veganism for more than a stint of weight loss!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/06/2022 14:22

😂 at the idea this thread will become some sort of confessional come mid July!!

Being good on the cals so far today. Had 10 min walk round the block at lunchtime to add in some extra steps (not many but every little helps) and I will do a class after work.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/06/2022 18:32

Bodycombat done! Very sluggish. Not sure if it was because it's a bit muggy. But I did it!
