I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

Well done! I don't mind needles at all but I'm a woose about plenty of other things!

🤣 @ElephantOfRisk 🍦

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2021 11:27

Well done @ssd

I eventually got booked for tomorrow: no interest in booster per se but thought I might need it to go on holiday.

I’ve never had the flu one either @ElephantOfRisk, but have had awful flu. Dunno what to do

Me too, re booster @WouldBeGood.

Our holidays have been approved for next year, what do we think the chances are of a booking being okay? We'd like to do a villa but it's working out £2-3K cheaper doing flights with separate booking for accommodation and there is a lot more choice at the moment. I usually prefer doing a package for the protection. Dh is very risk averse so I think he'll be not inclined to book anything though.

I’d do the cheaper one with good travel insurance. I have an Aviva policy and it seems pretty good on Covid cover.

I reckon next year will be ok 😊

ElephantOfRisk · 23/11/2021 11:36

I can remember how ill I was when I had the flu, unable to get out of bed, no strength at all for weeks. When I had the first bout, I went back to school and a couple of teachers didn't even recognise me! I'd actually had a phone call from one of them as I'd been due to submit my folio work for assessment prior to it having to be submitted officially and I don't think she had realised how ill I was. I can remember one day towards the end feeling a bit better and thought I'd put some clothes on but I wore myself out trying to put on some jogging bottoms so had to have a sleep and abandon that. I wasn't able to walk for ages and once I was up out of bed, i'd gone back to crawling.

will get some wine into him and broach it Grin

It's his birthday today so maybe in a more receptive mood. Also need to find out if DC/girlfriend want to come.

Happy birthday Mr ElephantWineCake

Happy Birthday Mr@ElephantOfRisk! Booking a holiday is the perfect celebration 😃

ElephantOfRisk · 23/11/2021 11:55

Thanks for the wishes. He's 60 today so a bit of a milestone! He's going to ask "how one retires" while at work today just to put the cat amongst the pigeons. Grin

Happy birthday @Elephant's ball and chain.

And happy holiday booking, very exciting!

ElephantOfRisk · 23/11/2021 15:01

Both DSs want to come on holiday with us DS2 just going to check with his girlfriend when their classes are over toady but he thinks she'll want to come. A couple of the villas we've stayed in before are available and DH really enjoyed both of those as they are just a hop step from the beach they all enjoy and I'll be happy as there is a private pool and shop is handy and a nice stroll to restaurants and pub.

I'm not holding my breath about being able to book yet though. I'll keep you updated Grin

Aww big birthday @ mrElephantOfRiskq

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 23/11/2021 16:57

Coming in here for safety because the other threads are becoming a bit of a hysterical SNP hating mess again Grin

What's everyone having for tea? I'm making spicy tomato pork stew and we'll have it with rice and wraps.

That's if I can get up, am currently snuggled next to the cat who has got my pinned with his paws. He's my best pal in winter, then we hardly see him from March to October!

dementedpixie · 23/11/2021 16:59

I'm just about to join a virtual parents evening for ds. First one the school have had. Hope it goes smoothly. Dh is joining from his laptop at work

ElephantOfRisk · 23/11/2021 17:06

hope parent's evening goes well @demented and thanks for the further birthday wishes. He's home from work and taken himself into the gym and then we are having roast duck and things for dinner. Someone gave him some cake today the bastard! :o and it was "too sweet" so now he's not hungry and no doubt won't be interested in the actual birthday cake I've bought either..

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 23/11/2021 17:08

Virtual parents evening is definitely a change that can stay!

GrouchyKiwi · 23/11/2021 17:19

Happy birthday, Mr Elephant!

We're having sausage rolls and baked beans for tea because I'm in a Can't Be Fucked mood.

We met a new home ed family who live really close to us today, which was exciting. Took the girls to play at the park, so that was nice for them.

Tuesdays are my least favourite day of the week as DH goes into the office then doesn't get home till 10pm as he has choir afterwards. I have to do bedtime - which is usually his task - and take the dog out for a walk too. Bah.

prettybird · 23/11/2021 17:39

Happy birthday MrElephantOfRisk SmileThanks

1961 was an excellent vintage in Bordeaux- one of the few "legendary" ones Wine

prettybird · 23/11/2021 17:41

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar - that's why this (and specific threads about the south side of Glasgow) are the only ones on Scotsnet that I tend to post on Smile

dementedpixie · 23/11/2021 17:41

Well that was a super speedy parents night! No more traipsing round the school trying to find the correct room. Only get 4 minutes per teacher though and once your time is up it cuts you off.

Dh managed to join from his laptop at work and I think we were the first people that had 2 parents on different screens

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2021 17:43

That sounds tasty @BlameItOnTheBlackStar. I’ve had training online today which was appalling and can’t be bothered to cook. I’d like sausage rolls but boldly swore off pastry to help with my weight. Rash decision.

My little dog hates the cold too. Tried to make me come back early from the walk again!

@GrouchyKiwi sometimes I miss my DCs being little but I don’t miss all that! It’s hard work as well as lovely.

dementedpixie · 23/11/2021 17:44

We're having curry for dinner. Dh batch cooked it at the weekend and Tuesday is curry night!

Having some Mrs Umis Indian starters first when he gets home from work.

ssd · 23/11/2021 18:16

Sorry tjat was meant to say aww happy birthday mrElephantOfRisk Cake

prettybird · 23/11/2021 18:17

I'm making pork burgers tonight (low carb) my not so secret ingredient, a very generous slosh of Worcestershire sauce. Smile
