I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

I like watching cookery programmes too. Don't do the cooking bit much though (dh likes it thankfully)

ssd · 18/10/2021 19:51

@dementedpixie

I'm still waiting for my dinner as dh is playing football. It's leftover Spanish chicken although we need to add the chicken in as we ate all the chicken thighs in the first portion (there's baby potatoes, veg, chorizo, etc still left)
Sounds good, is it a slow cooker recipe?
dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 19:52

No, its done in the oven. A hairy bikers recipe

weegiemum · 18/10/2021 19:53

I had a very busy (for me!) morning and a totally nothing afternoon. So wet and horrible here that dog didn't even want to go for a walk.he's getting groomed tomorrow so I wanted to get him a bit worn out.

Glasgow is so depressing in the rain. Ds was pretty flat when he got in from work (he's a home care assistant) and said all his old people were grumpy - just this time of year. We booked next years summer holiday at the weekend so at least we've got something to look forward to.

sweetkitty · 18/10/2021 19:57

Hello fellow Scots
Back at work for me today after a week off am feeling it tonight. My dinner was a vegan burger and chips courtesy of DH.

Now I’m back at work won’t have much time for telly, may squeeze in the odd episode of Grey’s Anatomy in the evening (late to the party but enjoying it).

@ssd

I'll need to look out for Ozark, I've never heard of that. Sounds good. I love a serious that we can get into, especially on these dark nights. I used to buy the sunday times and keep the tv section but it started annoying me so i stopped. Im back from the shops, spent money i shouldn't have. Oh well. Thats good you're decorating now *@Groovee*, hope it goes well. Am away to have some dinner.
Ozark is the absolute best dark night series ever. I'm actually jealous that people get to start it. Bliss.

I love that recipe! We have it with the chicken the first night and cos I do extra potatoes etc, we have it as a side dish with something else the next night. It's one of my go to regular meals.

I did a really nice braised lamb steaks recipe which is becoming another favourite.

I hate this weather, its mot supposed to be dry until Thursday here.
I was supposed to see Gladiator tonight, but that's been cancelled so I'm going to scare myself shitless with the new Halloween film instead.
Hope the cinema isn't too empty!
I promised Dd I'd go to the 24 hour Asda after to look for the Pokemon cards she wants, total geek child!

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 20:06

The only negative I have about Ozark is that I want to keep shouting to tell them to put the chuffing lights on! It's otherwise one of my best series.

We freeze leftovers and then have it whenever we like. We add in the chicken again and some crispy potatoes and extra chorizo for a bit of texture.

I'm sure when dh makes it its no longer the diet version that the hairy bikers do Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 20:07

Where are you off to weegie?

I keep telling the boys to dig out their old pokemon cards, they might be sitting on a fortune.

My ds was well into pokemon a few years ago and we have tons of cards hanging about. I started playing pokemon go with him and I still play it even though he's given up now ; kids have no staying power these days Grin

I'm sure my portions are much more than they are supposed to be too.

I think i maybe need to get another freezer as we never have room in ours for leftovers. It's really just a couple of drawers so it's mainly raw meat and then some chips and veg and a few ice lollies and we are full.

Mine were a bit older when Pokemon go came out but they were well into it when they were later primary age and got loads of cards from ebay as well as buying some new packs. I'm sure I have some huge plush pokemon lurking in the attic unless the mice have had a go.

Dd is 20 and still loves it.
She spent a fortune on a limited edition 25yr anniversary pokemon levis jacket last summer.
They have loads of the rare cards and stuff.
I know enough about it, played it years ago but have no interest now.

UmpteenthTime · 18/10/2021 20:18

We watched the whole of the second series of Guilt over the weekend.
Love Mark Bonnar and always enjoy spotting places we recognise.
Might watch the first series again now.

Excited about coming up to Scotland next month to see family and friends.
This will be our third attempt since the summer so I’m keeping everything crossed.

ISpyCobraKai · 18/10/2021 20:20

I need to sort out the mess that is my freezer and do some batch cooking really.
Lots of lovely winter food.

DrWankincense · 18/10/2021 20:21

I know the thread moved on but what kind of pies @ElephantOfRisk?
Missing important details 😁

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 20:21

I think mine got interested in other similar anime type things and then Minecraft etc, no staying power Grin

Hope it is 3rd time lucky Umpteen

A mixture :) DH got a couple for his mate but we got some pork pies, some meat and potato, some scotch, some steak and DS got a macaroni one. Then DH got a selkirk bannock at the baker version of butchers. We looked at the cakes but didn't succumb.

Do love a wee pie! Sounds good.
I tried a macaroni pie for the first time this year, DH thought I'd like it but it was a sad disappointment 😞.

titsintiers · 18/10/2021 20:30

Just my opinion but macaroni pies are just plain wrong

GrouchyKiwi · 18/10/2021 20:30

Oh, this is a lovely thread idea. Flowers

The weather is jolly miserable here too. I usually like it when it's wet but it's not really committing to anything. Not completely wet, not dry, just blah.

We're watching the first Harry Potter film with our older two girls. It's DD2's first time. She keeps complaining about stuff missing from the books.

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 20:32

I've not tried one either Dr but my boy loves Macaroni... They had some lasagne ones as well.

Had a scotch one with beans for dinner, a lot more dense than the ones you get from the supermarket and the pastry was lovely. It'll be pie for lunch tomorrow. I've had the steak and meat and potato before and they are lovely. I don't like a pork pie.
