I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

Have just had a charming experience while walking the dog.

Saw a family with three dogs and a toddler on their evening walk, but it turned out the third dog was actually their cat following behind. Grin

dementedpixie · 18/11/2021 19:51

My 2 cats go a walk round our estate with us most Friday nights when we put the bins out. We then come back to the driveway for dreamies. Sometimes we get a 3rd cat that follows but really just wants the dreamies!

prettybird · 18/11/2021 19:52

We sometimes have to put one of our cats back inside the house and run (before he gets out again), as they want to follow us when we go for a walk Confused

Most of the time though they spread themselves over the three seater sofa Grin

We had a cat in a nursery I worked in who clearly didn't enjoy being left behind who regularly showed up in the nursery garden 😂

prettybird · 18/11/2021 21:54

The cat that these two replaced was killed crossing the road (the next street from us) to visit a nursery. Apparently he was a regular visitor he was a tart Wink

Car was going at c60mph at 8.30am in a 30 zone outside a nursery and close to a lollipop lady - so fast that the mother who witnessed it couldn't even get its number plateAngry Good news is that some pretty severe speed bumps have now been put in.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 19/11/2021 13:29

How awful about your cousin @GrouchyKiwi I really hope she starts to improve soon.

These cats are all adorable! Ours is too much of a lazy bugger to follow us anywhere. Although we did see him in the street behind us last week, and DD ran over to go and pick him up for a cuddle and then ran away laughing going 'he's doing a big shite' Grin Very classy family we are.

titsintiers · 19/11/2021 14:50

😆😆😆😆@BlameItOnTheBlackStar when you need to go you need to go

Guys, do any of you know when you book your Covid booster, if you also get your flu jab? It's very unclear!

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2021 17:24

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar I think you do if you’re eligible for the flu jab?

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 19/11/2021 17:32

I get my Covid one as an unpaid carer but I still can't work it out, I must do a bit more reading!

ecceromani · 19/11/2021 18:00

I think they're doing both at the same appointment ( to cut down number appointments needed) @BlameItOnTheBlackStar
So as long as you are eligible for flu jab, by age group or being carer AND you're 24 weeks since last covid jab you should get both

prettybird · 19/11/2021 18:19

Dh and I have the opposite problem re the booster: have our flu jags next week but can't book the booster on-line Confused - probably because they're assuming that they'll give it to us at the same time as the flu jag (25 and 26 weeks respectively since our 2nd jags) - only we can't have the boosters as it will only be 3 weeks since we tested positive for Covid Hmm

Does it let you reschedule? You only need to be 4 weeks since infection for a booster. Under 18s it's now recommended 12 weeks after infection.
prettybird · 19/11/2021 19:35

I'm not going to reschedule my flu jag - it's already a bit later than ideal as it takes a couple of weeks to become effective and flu season has already begun Sad

I'm hoping that at the vaccination centre they'll let us book the booster there and then. If not, I'm going to have to queue on the phone as apparently the on-line system will assume that we've already had it Confused

titsintiers · 19/11/2021 19:38

Not a great system is it @prettybird, hopefully you can book when you're there. Anyone who I know that's had flu and booster together has felt dreadful for a few days afterwards.

Scottishskifun · 19/11/2021 19:48

@prettybird you can always try your local pharmacy many have stocks in I think it's about £15.

I didn't get mine last year until mid December it seems to be getting later and later tbh even though I'm in a at risk group.

Mantlemoose · 19/11/2021 20:00

If you're entitled to your flu jab on the NHS you can book in to get it at your pharmacy foc.

prettybird · 19/11/2021 20:16

I'm happy with my appointment next week for my flu jag - I'm just not going to delay it so that I can get my booster at the same time Smile

At the time I got the appointment I'd assumed I'd be getting my booster then too. Unfortunately I got Covid inbetweentimes Sad

ecceromani · 19/11/2021 20:18

@titsintiers nhs staff have all been getting both together.
I know several and they've been fine, except the one who had Moderna who felt rubbish for 3 days!

titsintiers · 19/11/2021 20:33

That's good @ecceromani the nhs staff I know not quite so fortunate but maybe they all had Moderna.

prettybird · 19/11/2021 20:35

My dad was fine when he got his booster along with his flu jag Smile I think he said it was Moderna - but it was well over a month ago. He's 84 so in the early cohort Grin

Groovee · 19/11/2021 20:44

My letter for tomorrow was for my flu jag and I would get my Covid booster if it was time.
TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 19/11/2021 22:40

@Groovee my letter for Sunday said the same... I had my flu jab already at work when pupils got theirs (I'm a TA) so phoned to ask if I would get booster as no point going otherwise. I was told I would, but won't be convinced until I get it. I'm over the six month mark as got vaccine early for no reason I or vaccinators could ascertain, but only 49 which the nhs website states mean I should be "invited to book appointment soon"... 🤷‍♀️

Wbeezer · 20/11/2021 08:58

I cant actually remember when i got my second jab, my memory does not store info like that well, it feels like it was ages ago...
Re. Being invited to make an appt, if we wait will be sent a blue letter with an appt like last time? I couldn't find anything on the website about a waiting to be sent an appointment letter so i dont know if booking it myself is an optional thing or the only option?
