@LoopyGremlin

Hope you hear soon *@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo*
Thanks. The under 50 vaccine thread prompted me to phone so I now know when my appointment is (mid-May) though still no letter.
Haudyourwheesht · 01/05/2021 22:26

I've given up waiting for my blue envelope and signed up (and been accepted) for a vaccine trial. So I'm getting vaccinated! Grin

Scottishskifun · 02/05/2021 13:20

My friends in England have all been vaccinated now exactly the same age 🙄

I've given up also but less concerned as I know I have antibody protection at the moment!

I do wish they would hurry up though as most of the vaccination centres up here are set up in leisure centres! Ergo no leisure centre facilities til they finish!

• 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)

• 2,817,752 people have received the first dose of the covid vaccination and 1,297,664 have received their second dose

All but Moray in scotland is under 50 per 100, 000 which is level 2,in sparsely populated areas an extra 10 cases can make a huge difference to rates for the past 4 weeks in UK death ratenumbers from covid have been lower than seasonal average for flu for the first time since Jan 2020 normal for April is 87 per day for flu / pneumonia currently covid deaths for UK are under 50 not sure sadly whether government ever want no restrictions

I think the U.K. government does... Scottish, I'm not so sure Hmm

Ugh, this. I want to know what their plan is for after "the end of June". Even at level 0 the restrictions are still pretty severe e.g. under stadia and events it says 2,000 outdoors seated/1,000 free standing and no mention of when nightclubs might be allowed to open. If rates continue to stay this low, added to the fact that by the end of June most adults will have had at least 1 jab, I really can't see what their justification is for keeping us in level 0 limbo.
Scottishskifun · 02/05/2021 18:44

@DieSchottin93 I wouldn't pay too much attention the SG website contradicts itself in so many places! Can tell you for events it's definitely higher than what the tier 0 states!
It's a shame nobody cross references any of it!

Littlemissweepy · 02/05/2021 18:55

Apparently UK Government will be confirming the list of green/ amber countries next week, ahead of the easing of international travel restrictions on 17 May. I haven’t heard anything from the SG on this for a while. Does anyone know if they have said they are going to follow this traffic light system or create their own more strict set of rules / keep an international travel ban for longer?

titsintiers · 02/05/2021 19:07

I reckon they'll have stricter rules than England. We'll no doubt get the chat on sacrifices again.

Just to note- definitely more than 10 new cases in Moray the last week!
Scottishskifun · 02/05/2021 19:12

There has been 62 cases in Moray which is still lower than 1 workplace outbreak as seen with food processing places or 1 oil rig!

It also depends on how they divide it up if they are following health authorities like they strongly hinted at in March rather than council areas then it's at 20 per 100,000 for NHS Grampian which Moray includes.

WouldBeGood · 02/05/2021 19:21

People (me) will just depart from England 🤷🏻‍♀️

Scottishskifun · 02/05/2021 19:34

I've stopped following the SG ones and now follow the England updates!
So far this summer we have 4 trips in the calendar for England as we will be able to do more!
We have 1 holiday in Scotland but doubt we will book any other weekends or anything when we can go south and have more freedoms!

Littlemissweepy · 02/05/2021 19:39

Exactly. I already have flights carried over from last year, starting in Scotland and transiting through Heathrow. I can sure not be fecked to break the trip up or train to London etc just to get round the nonsensical different rules.

mibbelucieachwell · 02/05/2021 20:23

East Dunbartonshire is only just under the 50 per 100, 000 bar. If the Scottish government applies regulations by health board we'll be baled out by Glasgow.

rookiemere · 03/05/2021 09:07

I was really surprised to discover that English pubs and restaurants aren't open indoors yet - we're going down next weekend, thankfully staying in Eyemouth on the Saturday night so can enjoy a meal inside although DH will have to have his pint outdoors.

It's so bizarre these discrepancies between the UK, but I'm so enjoying being able to eat out again even if there is no alcohol. Since Thursday I've eaten out 3 times and had my eyebrows and hair done, and today we're off to one of my absolute favourite walks and pubs at Blackness.

I really want to be able to travel abroad too, but a wee suspicious part of me thinks I don't want to lose what we have now, and if the trade off is no foreign travel for a while, I'll take it. But sadly suspect the trade off will be people able to fly from England not Scotland or more stringent testing and quarantining here, which is pointless unless England doing the same.

Scottishskifun · 03/05/2021 10:16

@rookiemere 17th of May for indoors England. But I would say they are set up a lot better than up here as large beer gardens are the norm in England. So many already had heaters etc don't think you will struggle to find options!

Very glad to see no limit on mourners in England due to come in on the 17th. I'm hoping Scotland will follow suit as the ability to have a proper final goodbye has been ripped from people.

forfucksakenett · 03/05/2021 12:12

Yes it's great that we are able to enjoy some indoor hospitality! Kind of goes against the common narrative that we are so much more strict doesn't it?

That's weird @Scottishskifun I think lots places here have a beer garden of sorts. Certainly most pubs have managed to cobble something together.

Justmuddlingalong · 03/05/2021 12:18

Anyone have a contact number or website to chase up 2nd dose appointments? BIL's 12 weeks is up tomorrow and he's not received his appointment letter and is freaking out. I've been given the job of sorting it out but don't know who to contact. Any info would be a help. TIA

Justmuddlingalong · 03/05/2021 12:20

It's Fife by the way.

Scottishskifun · 03/05/2021 12:24

@forfucksakenett maybe in the cities but its not so common in rural towns and villages and definitely not on the scale that you get in pretty much every English village.
It's the one thing we have always missed from living in England is the beer garden culture in the summer.
In our town there is only one pub which had an existing beer garden, 4 have max 4 tables available and 3 have nothing available. Outdoor dining definitely isn't as common place!

forfucksakenett · 03/05/2021 12:43

I think perhaps you're generalising a bit. Maybe just focusing on where you live? Wherever I've been when travelling across Scotland there's always been outdoor space for eating and drinking in even the smallest rural areas. Maybe I've just gotten lucky.

florafoxtrot · 03/05/2021 12:49

I’ve seen a lot of businesses in the north east doing their level best to create lovely outdoor spaces to encourage trade and still operate within the restrictions that are there. We are going to the backyard beach collective on Aberdeen beach in a few weeks with outdoor bar and street food! Very excited! I understand that people might be put off by having to plan ahead or scan an app and/or the risk of bad weather but there are things going on.

Phone this number: 01592 648048

That's the Fife vaccination hub hotline. They were very helpful when I had an issue with my second vaccine and got me booked in very quickly.
