No stats update today due to technical IT issue apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️

I see on the BBC news site that the islands are going to L1 while most of the mainland is going to L2.

Does anyone know if this covers all Scottish islands and if so does it mean that we can’t travel between L1 and L2? I’m a bit confused!

It is them all apart from Skye because of the bridge. You can travel between them.

That's big jump in cases, take it that's Moray!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 12/05/2021 14:36

Looks more like Glasgow - Grampian has 27 cases today, Glasgow 141.

I suppose the thing is that the majority of the population is still unvaccinated (if you include children) so there is no protection from transmission for a lot of people still.

RedactedTaeFeck · 12/05/2021 14:42

Moray only accounting for 10 cases today, other places seem to be up again, 12 for Stirling, over a 100 for Glasgow, 33 South Lanarkshire, 25 Fife, 14 East ren, 13 Aberdeen etc, most areas seem to be a bit above what they have been reporting but also it was a higher test level day than some.

WouldBeGood · 12/05/2021 15:09

Hospitals look fine so no need for more restrictions even if more cases.

RedactedTaeFeck · 12/05/2021 15:22

Agree, didn't want Moray unfairly held accountable when it's a general rise, most likely because of higher testing.

Yes I hope once all adults are vaccinated we stop counting cases and only count people who are sick enough to present at hospital.

EvilOnion · 12/05/2021 15:58

I suspect there will be a rise in positive cases due to increased testing with the home testing kits being made available to everyone.

The vaccination centre in Moray has been maxxed out with walk in appointments for all 18-39 year olds alongside routine appointments for the past few days so hopefully the numbers will drop again in a few weeks.

dancemom · 12/05/2021 16:03

Glasgow numbers creeping up, really they should vaccinate all 18+ in Glasgow now to avoid a repeat of last autumn / winter in the city

Think that would be a good idea to vaccinate all adults more quickly in higher case areas. Even if the numbers don't result in hospital admissions the SG will
clamp down on high case areas due to risk of variants emerging.

Possible, but as far as I gather,
  1. nobody’s using them
  2. they’re unreliable

So I think cases really are going up quickly.

EvilOnion · 12/05/2021 18:40

@pawsbaws most people I know are using them so I guess it depends where you are.

They're mandatory in our school and my workplace - none of us have had a positive on LFT or CRP test yet so I'm hoping they're accurate enough as it's the best thing we have really.

EvilOnion · 12/05/2021 18:44

PCR rather 🤦‍♀️

Haudyourwheesht · 12/05/2021 18:45

It's Eid this weekend, plus rangers are apparently planning a parade, so I can't see Glasgow's numbers dropping any time soon.

I'd have thought vaccination may be an issue in Glasgow too, because it's such a large multi-ethnic population, and there are reportedly issues with vaccine take up in minority communities.

I can't wait for the day when 'cases' don't mean anything !
WouldBeGood · 12/05/2021 19:14

Christ, me too @Pootle40.

I really think we should be there now.

Haudyourwheesht · 12/05/2021 19:24

I think Moray has shown us that they're very much looking at cases. Presumably the vaccination rate in moray is average or higher than average, but they're still potentially going to be held in level 3.
