Following for updates. Can't be doing watching the news any more!

Invisimamma · 18/01/2021 15:35

Thanks for the new thread.

Anxiously waiting tomorrow's decision on schools, although realistically I know the closure will be extended, but for how long? It feels like we're only just holding our heads above water here, supporting the dc school work is taking up most of my day. I'm not finding enough time to do my own job and it'll catch up with me soon. The mum guilt is too strong to tell them to skip or leave tasks, I feel they need to do it all, especially when the learning follows onto next days work so it's not as simple as just skipping a task or two as they'll fall behind or not follow what's happening.

ladylunchalot · 18/01/2021 15:37

Thanks for the new thread and thanks for the thanks about the job.
I'm champing at the bit to get clinics up and running, seems to be taking forever.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/01/2021 15:37

Just took a look at tableau for the first time in a while. My council area is currently on 108 cases/100k - tier 2 in "old" money

I appreciate the increased transmission of the new variant but it does make me wonder how low they're going to dry to drive it before lockdown lifts. I have a feeling we've got a long way to go

Cismyfatarse · 18/01/2021 15:40

Excellent!!

Have just got here.

Vaccine stuff is really boiling my piss.

Yes. Stay home. Blah blah. Don't drive. Don't see anyone. No alcohol. No fun.

But, with a vaccine we can get life back and the delays look like a combination of incompetence and a desire to keep us locked up as long as possible to keep the daily briefings going.

After all, what a political platform it has been.

Sorry. Am so cross.

And I want to go back to school. Teaching by muttering into a laptop is no fun. And I needed my daily dose of teenagers as there was not much fun to be had elsewhere.

titsbumfannythelot · 18/01/2021 15:41

Checking in, thanks for the new thread wax

anon444877 · 18/01/2021 15:44

Meanwhile friends/colleagues in England say Boris is never going to hit his commitment to release lockdown in March (haven't looked at the details of what he's said).

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 15:44

Surely the daily briefings will have to stop if they’re electioneering?

Sturmundcalm · 18/01/2021 15:49

yeah, I'd love DS to be back at (secondary) school but really need there to be SOME progress/planned changes ASAP because if schools are the priority and they can't even give a commitment to when ELC is reopening then how far away are we from being released from lockdown???

I really wanted to lose some weight but the combo of lockdown and terrible weather is just dooming me to the consumption of chocolate and crisps! I'm terrible for eating my emotions... Good title choice!

Dinnafashyersel · 18/01/2021 15:51

Cismyfatarse it has really cheered me up to see your post. I love that the teachers at my DDs' secondary genuinely seem to love my teenagers even when their parents have had enough of them. So nice to be reminded of this when there is so much negativity atm.

Me and DD3 did the secondary PE circuits in preference to her primary's suggestion of Joe W. The teacher had thoughtfully designed the Monday morning session to be silent.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/01/2021 15:53

Agree @Sturmundcalm, if schools are "the first priority for opening" or whatever the wording is, and realistically ELC is safer than primary, which is safer than secondary and there's no word on even ELC then we've got a LONG way to go yet.

At the moment I'm still thinking after Easter for schools.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 15:55

And thanks for the new thread.

Bytheloch · 18/01/2021 15:59

Checking in. Thanks Wax Enjoying from afar as I have work deadline for end of Jan. Currently storing up my rage for Feb when the weather, combined with being locked up and trying to deliver some semblance of an education to a child who misses his teacher (his whole personality lights up again on the video check in) and friends, may have finally got to me. I’m already going down the carbs and coffee route again, which was my undoing last March onwards. Appreciate I’m lucky to have the choice to eat too much toast and be generally fed up- because for so many this is an utterly shite time with all their choices and options removed.

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 16:04

The SNP complaining they’re left out by the BBC after the daily briefings...

@WouldBeGood

I was thinking that but I think it kicks in from 6 weeks prior to the election.

However I think she has got everyone switched off from her preaching. Because she gets on the daily soap box nobody listens, most people have switched off to her.
When Boris says he's doing one everyone knows he has something important to say, so actually tune in to listen.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 18/01/2021 16:06

checking in.

DD will be upset if home schooling continues.

Fortunately I don't have a job so I can be at home with her. Just got a job rejection today (and can't help but fear my multiple disabilities played a part in that) but its tomorrow's interview (final stage) that I really really want.

Hopefully get some good news after a shitty year.

Lockdownbear · 18/01/2021 16:07

Oh thanks for the new thread.

Groovee how are you and Mr Groovee?

NotAnActualSheep · 18/01/2021 16:07

Thanks for the new thread - fab title (I wish...though to be honest, even tiers would be better than this).

And congratulations ladylunch... Hopefully you and your colleagues can get things moving where NS can't!

I don't think I can cope with an announcement that schools won't be back til Easter. I know that is likely, but given numbers are falling Scotland wide it seems so disproportionate. My guess is tomorrow will extend 1st Feb to "after mid Feb break", but with a review at some point. I would hope ELC could open on 1st though. Please?!

anon444877 · 18/01/2021 16:10

Sorry to hear about the rejection but fingers crossed for tomorrow iwill

Bugger. Really sorry to hear that, but everything crossed for tomorrow. You've done so well to get through all these stages anyway, so they must think you're worth investing their time in. They wouldn't bother interviewing you if you didn't stand a chance!

I don't think they're going to put a date on it, @Invisimamma. It'll be what it always is - another two weeks, just a bit longer, another week....

They really have no idea how hard it is for parents trying to juggle everything.

RaspberryCoulis · 18/01/2021 16:14

@WouldBeGood

The SNP complaining they’re left out by the BBC after the daily briefings...
Say what??

They are on the BBC every fecking day, preaching at us. In which world does that translate to being "left out"?

WouldBeGood · 18/01/2021 16:15

@RaspberryCoulis I genuinely think the world has gone mad
