If you have your children full time and started dating again at what point did you feel comfortable having them over when your kids are in bed? Im thinking around 6 months?

He would leave before morning otherwise it would make no sense if he came when they were asleep if he was going to be here in the morning

I am confused

so sleeping over
or
no sleeping over

Or sleeping over but leaving the house early?

Staying late but leaving before morning not sleeping over but not rushing out either

so dinner, some drinks, maybe some sex, and then he dresses and leaves in the early hours. No sleeping - just food wine and sex? Right got it!

most relationships don't make it to 6 months. That's ok! Realising that you are incompatible isn't a failure and it isn't bad for kids to understand that relationships don't work out, rejection even happens, but you can deal with it gracefull. But what happens if these children have grown fond of this new person (who’s been showing off about how great they are with kids to impress new girlfriend) and then suddenly - “nope, never going to see him or hear from him ever again”

and it happens a few times

Edited

Why would it happen a few times and what has it got to do with what the OP presented?

Well, the op has said herself that she is sad, lonely and has no life without a man. Couple that with the fact that most relationships don’t go much further than 6 months (5basically once you’re out of the frantic sex stage!). Which means that chances are this will happen a few times.

StarClouds · 22/09/2026 20:38

Are you even a lone parent? Being a
lone parent is extremely lonely!! Nothing wrong with wanting to change that and like I said on the group about the husband moving on after the wife dies most of the comments said “why should he be sad/lonely/miserable” I forgot you are asexual though so perhaps thats why you don’t understand that it’s normal for adult humans to want a relationship and companionship.

@Lexibletheflexible I feel that you are very tough but need to protect yourself a bit. Some of these posters are never going to be persuaded— they are talking from a very bigoted place that has almost nothing to do with the original post. They’re only here to shame other women.

Oh for pity’s sake. Once again, an insult is rendered meaningless if there’s no truth to it. A bit like calling someone fat if they have a six pack for example. They aren’t going to take offence, they’ll just find you childish.

If this is the case @StarClouds then your title is misleading - your partner isn’t “staying over” . You are having a friend / boyfriend over for dinner and possibly a shag and then he leaves.

Agreed. It’s a bit silly. When an Op doesn’t like what a poster posts so they say “oh you must be so unhappy in life”
or… and I always chuckle at this one “you have clearly been triggered” 😆

OP said she has been single for years.

That's clear. It is important that they are aware people know their intentions though. Especially other women.

How did it go @StarClouds ?
