The Rules:
-The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating
-Develop a thick skin
-Do not invest emotionally too soon
-It’s all BS until it actually happens
-Trust your gut instinct
-People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault
-Know your worth
-If it's not fun, stop
-Loo update is mandatory
-No dating the thread
-Treat others as you'd like to be treated
-Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with
-The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future
If you're wondering if you're being too picky/should give another chance after the second chance/should try harder - the answer is invariably NO! You're not and you shouldn't. If this, now, is as good as it's going to get, the A game, then do you want what comes next?!
-OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item*

How was your holiday?

I have a new iron I will call Mr Golf, planning a date for next weekend so we will see. He’s a fair bit younger than me though (6 years) 😕

Thiswillbefun · 31/08/2026 18:06

@AlwaysCarrieSATCI seem to be meeting younger men too. Mr Lawyer is 39, Mr Post 40 and Mr Tennis 44. I am 53...

AlwaysCarrieSATC · 31/08/2026 18:29

@Thiswillbefun glad to hear we are in the same boat 🥂!

I don’t really know why it’s bothered me because men date younger women all the time

Thiswillbefun · 31/08/2026 18:36

@AlwaysCarrieSATCI think in my head I am younger so I don't really notice unless they mention it 🤣 I have made it clear to them all that I won't be having any children 🤣

I've dated quite a few younger guys (as well as older). They have all been equally shit, to be honest! 🤣

But I honestly don't think it matters, unless it's a huge age difference, like 20 years +.....

They’ve all been equally shit 😂 … let’s hope we come across some who aren’t!

How was your holiday?

It was lovely, but it's left me very confused!

I think I mentioned that DD's dad and his mom came (though they stayed in different accomodation). So we spent a lot of time together. It was lovely.

But now we are all home and back to normal, and I still have no idea whether he is actually interested in rekindling anything. (Let alone whether that would be a good idea.....).

Mr Cricket, who I had on good first date with, has been regularly though sparsely messaging (which is fine - one or two messages a day has been all I have wanted really - in fact the lack of messages has mostly been driven by me, I think).

He says he is up for a second date, and this is probably something I should pursue - he is a lovely guy. But these feelings towards my daughter's dad are here in my head now (no idea why - we have been amicably divorced for about 10 years) and don't seem to be going anywhere.....

It's giving me massive feelings of guilt!

Thiswillbefun · 31/08/2026 19:28

All equally shit - on my count 3 2 have been shit. The 3rd has a definite possibility!

empirebiscuits12 · 31/08/2026 20:05

So I am once again iron-less! I was having great chat with Me Tatts and another guy, but have heard nothing since Saturday evening. I even double messaged them both but nada.

Ive kept on swiping but nobody is taking my fancy at all. Apart from a very handsome younger man who is a PT. I normally swipe straight past those types tbh but when I logged back in to Hinge I see he has matched with me. Regretting this moment of madness now because he really isn’t my type. Does anyone else do this….kind of become a bit desperate 😬🙈

I can't think of a thing you have done to feel guilty about.

Can you ask your ex? Tell him you feel like there has been a vibe change and can you check with him if that's right??

Think like a man, Mr Cricket has been promised nothing so do what you feel 😘😘😘

Yes. In my case it's the ones who can't spell or write coherently...I know it will drive me bananas.

Mr Tractors is not written off yet and Mr Rugby may have potential...LOVE a rugby boy!

Haha, yes that’s exactly me too! Sometimes the same men come back around and I consider it for a millisecond before realising why I swiped left in the first place. A lot of the time it’s the men who want kids. Honey, I’m 44….not gonna happen 😂😂

Ooh nice work on Tractor and Rugby!

Some of their profiles saying they've not decided if they want kids yet at 55+ DUDE CAN YOU MATH?!

Mr Rugby is "separated" so rules himself out by my own rules, though I may make an exception as I LOVE a rugby boy. We'll see.

Mr Tractors is coming on strong...

Oooooh @Nosdacariad gotta love a rugby boy!
I had a date this morning which was great fun but he’s complicated so I’m leaving things there. All the men I match with seem to be complicated - mid divorce or other things going on! 🤣

So of my 3 I think I have date one organised with 2 and 2nd date interest from the 3rd. I love asking ChatGPT to analyse and she has said:

You have enough going on without running a three-man logistics department! 😂❤️

So funny!!

Thiswillbefun · 31/08/2026 21:57

@Browniesandcustardcomplicated is not good but so common!

Thiswillbefun · 31/08/2026 21:58

@Nosdacariadthose 2 irons sound interesting:)

Browniesandcustard · 31/08/2026 22:14

@Thiswillbefun that’s brilliant! 🤣🤣

Thiswillbefun · 31/08/2026 22:18

I do miss Mr Post tonight...gives me hope though that I am capable of liking someone ..

Thiswillbefun · 01/09/2026 06:30

A lovely message from Mr Post and Mr Lawyer has confirmed date one 😍

CountBoscoTheSecondsWife · 01/09/2026 07:57

@thiswillbefun glad to hear the no strings sex thing worked out for you. It's kinda nerve-wracking after so long. You seem to be having a busy spell on the apps...hope someone turns out not to be "equally shit" as most of them!
@Nosdacariad good luck with your rugger bugger! Is he built?
Mr Italians response to my saying sex.would be more like 3rd month than 3rd date, after he got over his initial shock (!!) he joked that he was "on a promise" and pretended to put it into his calendar! Which made me laugh. I said, 'or maybe 4/5/6 months or maybe Never' and he looked at me like I was speaking in tongues 🤣
He is very handsome and charismatic and something tells me he's used to getting his way! Anyway he's keen to meet again asap but I've a busy week so said maybe Sunday.

@ilovelurchers I don't know you but from what I've seen on this thread, and from lots of replies to you, you seem like a really lovely person. If I'm remembering correctly that your ex was quite a prolific cheater, then I'd hate to think of you going back to him. I can imagine how nice it is to feel like a family unit again and it seems like you're being cautious. Just mind yourself in all that xo

A lot to catch up on. Hi to everyone else 👋

AlwaysCarrieSATC · 01/09/2026 09:57

I must give off the vibe that I’m ok with “ethical non monogamy / polyamory” no idea how since my bio clearly says long term relationship 🤯😂

Nosdacariad · 01/09/2026 11:36

@Thiswillbefun great work!

@CountBoscoTheSecondsWife that was a nice reaction by Mr Italian. It will do him good to not get what he wants for once!

@AlwaysCarrieSATC I think there are a number of people who don't understand ENM and don't CARE whether you're ok with it/just try their luck with whoever so very much doubt it's your fault 🧡

Date seems to be emerging for Sat with Tractors 🚜
