The Dating Thread 62 - They'll be FALLing for you 💖💕💘

The Rules:
-The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating
-Develop a thick skin
-Do not invest emotionally too soon
-It’s all BS until it actually happens
-Trust your gut instinct
-People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault
-Know your worth
-If it's not fun, stop
-Loo update is mandatory
-No dating the thread
-Treat others as you'd like to be treated
-Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with
-The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future
If you're wondering if you're being too picky/should give another chance after the second chance/should try harder - the answer is invariably NO! You're not and you shouldn't. If this, now, is as good as it's going to get, the A game, then do you want what comes next?!
-OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item*

@Wynter25@CleanShirtThank you for sharing! You inspire us all!

So I had my first date with Mr Post and we had a spark straight away. We were quite far apart so could see each other as we walked together. We greeted each other with a kiss!
We were together for almost 3 hours and both said we wanted to meet again. I will now wait for him to ask :) He asked me to message when I got home and said some complimentary things in his good night messages. He has messaged good morning today. Let's see what happens next!

empirebiscuits12 · 29/08/2026 08:58

@Nosdacariad so sorry to hear about this absolute arse and I agree that it’s good he’s been weeded out quickly. It doesn’t stop you feeling very deflated though, I’m sure. Keep going though because there’s definitely someone out there as lovely as you 🤍

@NosdacariadYour day will come 100%. I can feel your warmth and loveliness from what you write and someone will be lucky to find you. He is out there.

Yes she may but it says "since date" and the date was while they were together.

He came back with a nonsensical explanation that it was to keep her paying back money she had borrowed.

They are no longer friends on fb so that doesn't track and I've dodged a bullet to the heart.

What a prick. Couldn't even admit the truth when it was staring everyone in the face.....

Yeah the amount and payment rate, they would be bound together for three years, if she kept paying.

I guess that was the point for him.

@Nosdacariadmy 2nd husband was number 23 internet date! I think it is definitely a numbers game. I have learnt to screen more carefully. Number 1 this time I wouldn't have met if I had a seen a better photo and number 2 not because of his set up. Going forwards I will be stricter so meet less. Also only interacting with it at certain times of the day.

I’ve got a new iron who I’ll call Mr Tatts. He’s been liking my profile repeatedly for a while but I kept bypassing him because he’s got a beard 🙈 I know, I know 😂 I was never into bearded guys because I just assumed it would be all jaggy and sore when kissing them. But I’d recently decided to give it a go because I was skipping probably over half of the men online. Beards seem to be very “in” at the moment. And 3 out of my 4 last dates have been with bearded men and the kissing has actually been fine!

So anyway, Mr Tatts does indeed have a lot of tattoos. Which I don’t really mind one way or the other. His chat has been really entertaining and he asks me questions. He’s also a bit rough around the edges, which I do like. Only been chatting since Thursday night so it’s very early days but I’d definitely be open to a date (and a kiss 🤭).

comingintomyown · 29/08/2026 11:51

@Nosdacariad dont give up lovely, unless you’re really hating it, how do you feel about the rowdiness of OLD does it amuse you or do you dislike it ?

@Thiswillbefun that sounds like a good night

So as previously mentioned by me I don’t enjoy Bank Holidays and so far this one is no exception 😂 Seriously though I’m going through a phase where constantly being proactive about making plans is getting me down. As I have got older friends who have retired are away a lot of the year who would have been around before, everyone -myself included - has slowed down a little so aren’t willing/able to do as much and my two boys are are super busy with their own lives as they should be.

I started dating to find a partner to spend say a couple of days a week with and some weekends, go on holidays with but most of all spend bloody bank holidays with 😁 I know it isn’t just me without plans and there are plenty feeling plan envy. Mr Chef messaged a cheery hello this morning and I just managed not to say actually no I’m in a bad mood and I’m wondering about us.

Anyway having spread all that bank holiday cheer I’ll clear off I hope everyone is having a good day x

comingintomyown · 29/08/2026 11:55

Oh @empirebiscuits12 I am not a beard lover either but you are right they are ubiquitous. Mr Chef has a heavy stubble look which suits him but sometimes feels uncomfortable

I think the key is for it to be more than heavy stubble. I was quite surprised by how soft they are 😂

Thiswillbefun · 29/08/2026 12:08

One of my essentials is heavy stubble! More than hair on their head 🤣 Although when I was looking to have children with a man I went for men with thick hair 🤣 It is odd dating at this age as I now like short, bald men but before tall men with thick hair! I am sure it is a biology thing!

Nosdacariad · 29/08/2026 12:10

@Thiswillbefun @empirebiscuits12 @comingintomyown @Ilovelurchers

Appreciating the support. So many oddballs!

I don't mind the OLD, I get a bit irritated by men who seem to expect us to carry the conversation while they just reply, and the level of self delusion is astonishing.

Beards - not a fan, never dated someone with one until Mr Beered.

@comingintomyown this is v.v. frustrating about bank holidays. I'm not sure the answer but if it was still like this in five years...?

Mr Post and I had good communication yesterday with a some messaging and a couple of calls. All good. I went to look at his photos on Hinge and he is gone. He told me when we met that he hadn't been on there since chatting with me. We both said we want see how we developed and not seeing anyone else but no 2nd date actually booked. I am away this weekend so we can't see each other. Something he did say on the date that made me think. He said he might be away this week as he and his friend were planning an impromptu holiday so not to worry if he wasn't contactable as he would be on a flight. Do I wait for him to arrange a 2nd date. Thoughts?

Thiswillbefun · 30/08/2026 07:09

From my perspective there was FWB wanting to meet and I have now told him no - it's not really my thing anyway. One guy I was chatting asked how I was and I said good and asked how he was. I have hinge with a few likes/ messages that I don't want to reply to at the moment but equally I am not ready to delete them.

Nosdacariad · 30/08/2026 09:36

@Thiswillbefun is he on the flight today? Are you thinking he has taken down his profile?

I think correct advice is leave it to him, who messaged last?

Those "how was your day?" messages are lovely from someone we know but a bit exhausting as a conversation opener!

@comingintomyown how are you getting on? 💜

@Ilovelurchers you're quiet, hope because you're having a riotous time 😘

@MsJinks hope you're having a great weekendv😁

@NosdacariadHe messaged last last night so I just messaged a good morning message. Unread at the moment but we were out really late Friday night!

Mr Lawyer (of stuck train and headache) has got in touch this morning saying that we should meet soon...

I have discovered ChatGPT is great for analysing chats 🤣🫣
