The Dating Thread 62 - They'll be FALLing for you 💖💕💘

The Rules:
-The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating
-Develop a thick skin
-Do not invest emotionally too soon
-It’s all BS until it actually happens
-Trust your gut instinct
-People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault
-Know your worth
-If it's not fun, stop
-Loo update is mandatory
-No dating the thread
-Treat others as you'd like to be treated
-Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with
-The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future
If you're wondering if you're being too picky/should give another chance after the second chance/should try harder - the answer is invariably NO! You're not and you shouldn't. If this, now, is as good as it's going to get, the A game, then do you want what comes next?!
-OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item*

Well 5 min on fb reveals Mr Paint has pics with a pretty age appropriate blonde ten days ago.

Could be friend or family, obv.

I may have enquired as to how long he has been single 😁

Is there any caption? Or have any of his friends commented on it?

(I am a seasoned stalker you see - these are the things I look for! 🤣)

If she is a partner or date she would probably have hearted it, or something.

There is no caption. Previously a friend commented "you both look great" but I no longer see that comment.
The woman in the pic is not in the reactions.
He put it up mid aug, took it down, put it up a few days later.

He says single for 6 months so ???

I felt comfortable with my parner straight away. No butterflies. He makes me feel calm. So if youre not feeling good about that one. Keep looking. You will find the right one.

Yeah im on healing from my kids dad.

I wrote him a letter then burnt it. Felt very satisfying.

Edited

Can I just endorse this - it is exactly how I feel with Mr P. Love is calm. Butterflies are anxiety.

I nearly cancelled my first date with him as I was exhausted, burnt out from dating (which can be seen very clearly from my previous entries on this thread) and done with it.

There was nothing in his profile that was overly exciting to me - I only swiped on him because he lived fairly locally.

Now - well, he enhances my life and we are off on our first weekend away (abroad) in a couple of weeks.

I would definitely want an explanation as to who she is. This would alert my spidey senses.

Nosdacariad · 28/08/2026 17:57

Thing is, if he has kicked off with a fat lie, there is nowhere to go from there.

It may be a stepchild/sister/friend.

Probs not a friend in a profile pic though?

Hmm - does sound a bit dodge. "You both look great" instinctively feels more like something you would say to a couple....

Has he got a relationship status on there? Not that they mean much as people often forget to update them.....

Ilovelurchers · 28/08/2026 18:01

Does he look especially hot in the picture? Or is he doing something exciting? Just wondering why choose that pic for his profile......

Nosdacariad · 28/08/2026 18:14

She is his ex from about 2024.

Not sure why he has her photo up in August (then down, then up).

She is very very pretty and her fb comes over a bit drama queeny ( rants about people (not Mr Paint) not doing what they promised her et c which I wouldn't put on fb myself).

I would abort the date. If the relationship is over there’s no need for her to be in his profile pic 🚩

BoxOfCats · 28/08/2026 19:05

@Nosdacariad I would certainly be very wary! Go on the date but definitely ask some questions…!

No chat with Mr C, I only saw him very briefly last weekend and he’s now off skiing for a week. I am admittedly also delaying this conversation for the time being.

Nosdacariad · 28/08/2026 19:07

I might just be honest and tell him. Before I waste my time.

She may be in a relationship with someone else.

Nosdacariad · 28/08/2026 23:23

I messaged and said I saw that he'd put up profile pics of her v recently and it made think he wasn't over her.

She may be in a relationship with someone else.

Yes she may but it says "since date" and the date was while they were together.

He came back with a nonsensical explanation that it was to keep her paying back money she had borrowed.

They are no longer friends on fb so that doesn't track and I've dodged a bullet to the heart.

@BellaBlackberry83Thank you for sharing your story I would love to get to the stage of going away for the weekend!
