Some dates - and some disappointments - about standard for OLD unfortunately, but we do have this thread - yay!
It is a learning curve for those new to it, and you’ll form your own rules for you, though some are general. I think maybe making sure they have a fairly recent photo where you can see they have teeth is a great rule we should all follow and is it on our rules already @Nosdacariad? I forgot to look!
I’m fortunate ruling out racists (often including other isms too) early as I’m open fast now about my activism - yes I got odd and not so nice messages but I avoided meeting them! It’s probably not foolproof but I had 2 separate dates quite quickly this time around and am still seeing the second one - just over 4 months now! And he’s decent! So it’s not a fully tested thing tbf.
However, active dating with a nice guy can still be anxiety causing lol - comms (texts) and now @Ilovelurchers- I’ll add you in as you may get this better - hope it’s ok and apologies if that seems idk rude or odd?
So there’s a bit of a family crisis for Mr T - so his kids and ex wife are supporting. But lately, and I have no issue with family events etc where he and ex wife are there - it’s good - but lately there’s events being set up by the kids specifically for their family (kids/partners/grandkids but not partners’ family) including mr T and ex wife - she seems to be single at mo - he essentially is for family purposes as in I’m not, and don’t expect to be, a partner included for a long time, if ever, just there seem to be a lot of these recently and not around birthdays or similar. I’m also now getting to hear reminisces about stuff like holidays and first dates - lovely! I am confident he is wanting to see me - likes me whatever - also confident he just thinks it’s great to be with family and better now he/ex wife get on so well. I’m not jealous - rarely am though, but have had the feeling - wary I guess at what may be happening- idk.
I know you and ex get on super well Lurchers - and I think that is great - just wondering I guess where ‘family’ is (as it right) priority eg/ your daughter has right and reason to just have Mum and Dad there for stuff and would you do parties or similar regularly with just you and he and get together just because it’s nice for everyone? I am not being very clear I think - I hope you know what I mean - and aren’t offended by my querying?
Obviously, any opinions welcome - I’ve never had a relationship I maintained for the kids or any reason - I never had a long relationship either which must make a difference as to remaining friends etc, so I’m unsure what is average really.
