Is he a lot older than you? How long have you been together?

Because honestly it sounds like hes been doing a fair bit of persuading.

Hes a few years older but i generally like older men anyway. Been together a few years now

Just make sure its what you actually want to do, and not just because hes pressuring you.

And if you split up, make sure you take the photos.

I have nothing useful to add but I am very much enjoying this thread. Particularly the idea of OP in her undies with her dp trying to look sexy in smart casual. Surely he should be in some kind of uncomfortable underwear too?

Sandytoesies · 31/07/2026 10:27

He should be in undies and you in smart casual op!

How horrible.
What is going on mumsnet? Multiple threads about women feeling the need to or being told to dress (or undress) in a certain way for men.
Is this the new feminism?
I prefer the old sort. Where we don’t pander to penis power.

I know he does not think that, went he gets back home hes very affectionate, this is something kinda exciting to lookforward to, maybe push the boundries and gain a bit more body confidence

You've mentioned "confidence" quite a lot.
Why do you lack confidence, do you think? Does your partner never make you feel good about yourself?

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 31/07/2026 10:38

Beachlover1993 · 31/07/2026 10:20

I guess it depends on how confident and comfortable you are with your own body

But you keep saying you're doing it to build confidence?

MonstrousRegimentRocks · 31/07/2026 10:39

Beachlover1993 · 31/07/2026 10:11

Thats not the impression i have, im fairly open minded so have no issues with my body as such. Im ok with lingerie so i was thinking of starting off with lingerie and maybe smart cadual for him. There can be change of outfits anyway

So, he'd be in a polo top and chinos?

And does he usually wear chinos and a polo shirt when you have sex, OP? Otherwise, do feel free to explain why a 'boudoir shoot' which is supposed to help you with body confidence, is going to involve him dressed in his normal clothes, as if going to the office for meetings, while you're trussed up in a teddy and garter belt, like an Ann Summers window display? I mean, what does that say about gendered expectations as regards sexual 'performance'?

Davros · 31/07/2026 10:47

Lynn! They’re sex people!

Plus the ones from the "beach shoot" as well.

I think many young women lack confidence in their appearance because of the unrealistic images that their "fellas" see online. Not understanding that they are digitally enhanced and of course, there's the pervasive influence of porn.
Brian wants some pictures.....

What was the "holiday shoot" and why did it give you confidence?

Just a late evening beach shoot with a photographer who worked within the hotel. We didnt plan it but the results were really good considering. The beach was perfect csught the waves around me really well, other we did on some rocks nearby

Have I accidentally woken up in 1992 ?

Shinyhappyapple · 31/07/2026 11:01

How on earth do you ‘recover intimacy’ with a photographer there? What is it about this that you think will help? Is it that you are putting more effort into how you look / dress (undress?) for the photo? Is it actually having the third person there?

Inmyuggs · 31/07/2026 11:04

What else will he suggest afrer this.
Is it a big pictute to go on your wall?
Tacky.
Go for a weekend away

Nothing says sexy like a hotel in Leicester

Except a breakfast inclusive hotel in Leicester.

Pssedoffathis · 31/07/2026 11:05

It could be a bit of fun, why not. It’s something fun to do with each other and see how it turns out. I had normal photoshoot done once and the photos were awful, but it was a fun day out.

I've never been to Leicester. Going to immediately add it to my 'must visit' list 😀(presuming the photo shoot is optional...)

You’ve received typical
uptight and small minded MN responses I see!

We have never done a couples shoot but I did do a boudoir shoot on my own as a wedding present to my DH. It was a long time ago now but I enjoyed doing it and I’ve always thought it would be fun to do a couples one. if you think you’d enjoy it, go for it. It’s harmless and you have nothing to lose!

Precisely this, MN at its finest.

We did a photo shoot like this early on in our relationship. I baulked a bit at the cost, but we loved it, and have the photos proudly displayed. Yes, the naughty ones too, in our bedroom.

i first read this as “we did it in some stocks nearby” 😆

Yes, there is a thread that begins with a woman feeling self conscious because her partner expects WAG level femininity and a high maintenance beauty regime, only for it to evolve that really she doesn’t mind that but thought he should be underwriting it. I know MN is the space where people with problems and problematic men come for support, and it’s a cardinal sin to say ‘not all men’ are like that so you should try to love yourself more and attract one of the men who will reflect that self love back at you… but I am staggered by just how awful some of these men are and how willing many women have been to submit to them.

It was only a starting off point, hes cool with getting undressed when we have talked about it . He looks after himself goes to gym few times a week
