I've been dating a chap for a couple of months and I know I'm about to be dumped, probably by text.
I'm not in wracking sobs. Maybe a bit sad, but there we go.
SO..... what's the best way to respond to a break up text? Silent treatment? A certain phrase? I'm curious.
The last break up was my marriage and I went hell for leather with the spiteful comments! LOL!

Polite, civil and a clean break. It’s what adults do.

How do you know you are about to be dumped? I only ask cos I thought this 3 weeks ago and I was v c wrong

"Best of luck" and delete his number. He'll be back in about 3-6 months with a speculative text unless he gets into a proper relationship.

If he’s ok to dump you by text he doesn’t really deserve a reply. I’d probably just agree that its run its course, take care or something. Dignified, no fuel for him to blame you or feel vindicated in the cowardly way he’s ending it.

This. It’s ok to break up with someone if you do it nicely and without drama. Not every relationship is going to go the distance. We don’t have the right connection with everyone. It doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with the other person.

Keep it dignified, something like “I’ve been thinking the same, thanks for being honest”

Thumbs up just makes you look like you’re upset and trying to hide it. I would just say you feel the same and think it’s probably for the best. Then don’t speak to them again- but don’t block.

God some of these suggestions would make you look absolutely pathetic.

It's been two months, just wish him the best and move on.

In my head I would have lots of thinga to say..
However, I would in reality take the high road and say something like 'appreciate your honesty, I agree it's not worked out. Thanks for a lovely time and wishing you all the best in the future'

I would just say something very vague but polite, e.g “All the best”, and then delete his number
