Would you be suspicious if a phone pinged in the glove compartment of your DH's car and it turned out to belong to a woman you don't know?

Very much so.

Frankola · 25/07/2023 21:48

Errrrr no way would I not be suspicious **

Lifeisapeach · 25/07/2023 22:15

did you ask him?

Mayhem3 · 25/07/2023 22:33

Caaarrrl · 25/07/2023 21:13

I can't believe the ridiculous imagination of some posters. Just ask him. It's probably someone he gave a lift to and she dropped her phone. I'd put it in the glove box so that I could remember to give it back.

Mumsnet never fails to amaze me.
I swear some posters should be authors with their wild imaginations.

Seriously!? that works? I've a samsung, so I don't know.

It wouldn’t work on my iPhone, I’ve turned Siri off completely.
And you wouldn’t get my name from entering my phone number in WhatsApp either, just my initials

IVFlife · 25/07/2023 23:01

v sus

squidgybits · 25/07/2023 23:11

the mere fact it was in the glove compartment ...

so sorry you are having to go through this, stay strong X

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 25/07/2023 23:37

I would ask if he's given lifts to anyone recently? Then tell him he's being weird and just to tell you the truth- after he's told you you can then say you found a hair tie or clip that's not yours in the car (if you don't want to mention the phone)

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 25/07/2023 23:38

Did the phone have loads of missed calls on it? Mine would if it was my main phone and I'd lost it

CarrieOnBoris · 25/07/2023 23:39

You could ask Siri to call your DH and see if he answers.

DreamTheMoors · 25/07/2023 23:39

What sort of dummy keeps his secret lover’s phone in the glove box?

If it turns out to be true, I’d bin him for being stupid. How challenging is it to hide the evidence of an affair?

I hope this “glove box phone” turns out to be nothing more than a big misunderstanding, @durems- sending best wishes.

What was the daily medical message?

I also want to know!

Jongleterre · 25/07/2023 23:58

Reminder to take birth control pill?

If I was giving someone something back they left it would be kept in glove compartment so it wasn't rolling around the car. No idea why people find that so surprising or why they would take it in the house to bring it back out to the car like PP suggested.

What I would find weird is he hadn't mentioned having someone else in the car, not that it was in the glove compartment!

I'd suspect espionage or military secret service

PlainJanePerfect · 26/07/2023 01:02

Does he ever give a lift home to coworkers? I live a 10 min walk from work but several of my male coworkers will give me a lift if we are leaving around the same time or it's raining. (Not that female ones wouldn't but it's a few of the male ones that live in that direction)

Cordeliathecat · 26/07/2023 01:20

I found an iphone on my street. I took it inside my house waiting for someone to call it to say it was theirs. No one called it but it stayed with charge for 3 days without usage.

NewName122 · 26/07/2023 01:37

I'd assume affair

Nat6999 · 26/07/2023 03:00

Put the sim in your phone & check the contacts, is your dh a contact? Look at the texts if you can, that will probably give you an idea or put her number in WhatsApp. My alarm bells would be ringing.

WetBandits · 26/07/2023 09:30

BettyRoodBoy · 25/07/2023 19:32

Ok I'm willing to be corrected - but does Siri really let anyone access contacts when the phone is locked? That sounds like a security headache? I guess it depends on the settings the user has chosen.

You can’t actually access the contacts but you can say ‘hey Siri, call Mum’ or whoever else you want to call, and if your voice is vaguely similar to whoever set up the phone, it usually works. I misplaced my phone at my Mum’s house and said ‘hey Siri, where are you?’ and her phone piped up ‘here I am!’

My voice doesn’t sound much like my Mum’s, but it still worked so perhaps it’ll work for the OP too.

prairiedog1 · 26/07/2023 09:49

I think it would depend on who put it in the glove box, but obviously we don't know who put it there.
If he put it there I think it's less suspicious than if the passenger put it there.
Putting something in someone else's glove box suggests a level of familiarity. If it's just a lift from A to B it's much more usual to rest things on your lap or put your stuff in the footwell. You don't go opening other people's glove boxes if they are just giving you a lift.
Less suspicious if they're getting out of the car to go somewhere, want to leave their phones, and place them out of eyesight.
If she had done that though, wouldn't she have remembered to get her phone when she got out the car?!
Perhaps it's a second phone. That makes it much more suspicious because it might be a second phone for arranging meets with an affair partner. If he was the affair partner, perhaps she's left the phone there because they've had an argument, or he told her it was over.
Where was he the couple of days before? Phones can hold charge for two to three days if there's not much activity on them.

CloverHilla · 26/07/2023 10:56

Did you talk to your DH to ask him? If you're suspicious it suggests there's other issues.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 26/07/2023 11:03

Obviously I'd be suspicious 🤷‍♀️
He would be handing it over or he would be gone 👍🏻

Luucylu · 26/07/2023 11:12

Is there any reason why he may give a lift to a woman? Work?
