Found a phone in car

Would you be suspicious if a phone pinged in the glove compartment of your DH's car and it turned out to belong to a woman you don't know?

OP posts:
Cosycover · 25/07/2023 19:13

Are you going to ask him?

FinallyHere · 25/07/2023 19:30

I wouldn't automatically jump to the worst conclusion. I'd ask whose it is. DP sometimes travels for work with colleagues.

This

You might leap to entirely the wrong conclusion.

SameToo · 25/07/2023 17:01

@BettyRoodBoy no but you need an iPhone to use Siri and assuming the poster is saying you can use the Siri function to ‘call mum’ without needing to unlock the phone.

Ok I'm willing to be corrected - but does Siri really let anyone access contacts when the phone is locked? That sounds like a security headache? I guess it depends on the settings the user has chosen.

ChrisPPancake · 25/07/2023 19:33

I'd ask him.
Maybe it belongs to a colleague who left it at a meeting and he'll give it back next time he sees her. Or a family member? Maybe he found it somewhere and is waiting for someone to pick it up?
Are you usually suspicious of him? Only it wouldn't cross my mind it was dodgy if I found it in dh's car, not unless his explanation was off.

SameToo · 25/07/2023 19:43

@BettyRoodBoy i must admit I have never used the Siri function on my phone so I’m not sure but yeah you’d hope it doesn’t work!

GiddyGladys · 25/07/2023 19:48

What was the daily medical message?

GiddyGladys · 25/07/2023 19:48

If it's an iPhone you can just ask it whose phone it is.

GoodChat · 25/07/2023 19:48

Presumably a reminder to take the pill

redheadcurl · 25/07/2023 19:53

I would be very suspicious. Is there a photo on the screen?

Yes, that’s what I thought. So if it is an affair, he’s unlikely to be using condoms as well, and OP will need an STI test if this phone belongs to an affair partner.

Though we seem to be some distance from having that confirmed right now.

Seriously!? that works? I've a samsung, so I don't know.

Dullardmullard · 25/07/2023 20:13

Just ask him.

How does a woman leave her phone accidentally in your DH car? What woman these days has a burner and not a smartphone.

We're you meant to be in the car? Is it likely she put it there deliberately to go off so you'd possibly find it and therefore get suspicious?

So many questions

Up until last year when I had to get a smartphone for work related reasons, me for one.

In similar circumstances it was because the male colleague and I were going somewhere phones weren’t allowed and I forgot to get it back out of the glove compartment when we got back to the office because I hardly ever used it.

Nanaof1 · 25/07/2023 20:21

Mayhem3 · 25/07/2023 19:03

I’m not a taxi driver and I’ve found several phones in my car or elsewhere like shopping trolleys etc.

If he was having an affair I very much doubt he’d have the OWs phone and if he did he wouldn’t hide it in the glove box, especially turned on.

I agree. I think if he was cheating and the OW left it in his car, he would be hopping to get it back to her because that would mean he'd get to see her again.

I would just ask him about it and stop letting your mind go to places it hopefully doesn't need to travel to at all.

When I set up Siri, it took various recordings of my voice. I always assumed it only worked for my voice (or someone who sounds similar).

I have an iPhone and yes it does. But if you've 'nicknamed' yourself the phone will only give you the nickname not the actual owner's name. For example my phone doesn't say it belongs to my 'real name' it says it belongs to 'silly name I gave my phone'.

Someone else mentioned asking Siri for contacts...Siri has voice recognition and will not normally respond to someone else's voice. If my DH says 'Hey Siri call XX' to my phone it will not respond to him.

Check where he goes at the time the appt is. I'd be thinking baby scan. And she could've left it in the car so you'd find it

This is my favourite leap of the day!

Chowtime · 25/07/2023 20:47

What an amazing co-incidence that you just happened to be in your husbands car without him there and a once daily reminder pinged up on the phone 😏

WandaWonder · 25/07/2023 20:55

Maybe is a spy working for MI5 and has a secret family who are also lizard children

Maybe just ask?

Growlybear83 · 25/07/2023 21:00

Whilst it may be suspicious, i do think it's quite possible that someone could mislay their phone and not miss it or need it back quickly. Several years ago I was given a work phone which I was meant to use for work related calls and to access my work emails, but having used my own phone for 15 years I really wasn't prepared to use and carry round a separate phone. I lost the work phone for ages and I can't imagine that it would have pinged at all during the time it was missing. My husband only uses his phone occasionally and so it wouldn't be making noises regularly during the day.

I think there could well be an explanation for this, but you will only find that out by asking your husband!

LetsGoDoDoDo · 25/07/2023 12:04

Could he be a drugs runner?

Either way, it's not looking good! Sorry.

Talk about vivid imagination

You're on the wind up aren't you?! 😂

Caaarrrl · 25/07/2023 21:13

I can't believe the ridiculous imagination of some posters. Just ask him. It's probably someone he gave a lift to and she dropped her phone. I'd put it in the glove box so that I could remember to give it back.

GotMooMilk · 25/07/2023 21:17

Let us know the outcome OP. Doesn’t sound great

Olika · 25/07/2023 21:37

I would take the phone and ask my husband. Saves unnecessary drama.
