Would you be suspicious if a phone pinged in the glove compartment of your DH's car and it turned out to belong to a woman you don't know?

OP posts:

Another phone that he never told you about? His phone pinging and it was another woman?

First of all why is this phone such a big secret he needs to keep it in his car? And why have you never seen it before! Secondly, how come this unknown woman has the number of this secret phone and not you??Hell yes I’d be suspicious! Very suspicious!!!

empatheticpretzel · 25/07/2023 12:31

Take it and put the sim into your own phone

Jk987 · 25/07/2023 12:32

How did you find out who it belongs to?

Seriously79 · 25/07/2023 12:34

I'd take it. Hide it at a friends and watch him freak out when he can't find it.

Or swap, her number, for your number.

A303 · 25/07/2023 12:36

Is it bright pink? Did he sneak out to see the new Barbie film on his own?

This! I’d definitely do this. I wouldn’t ask him about it as he can deny it or claim it’s a ‘works phone’ or a ‘friend’s phone’

BitOutOfPractice · 25/07/2023 12:41

How do you know it's a woman's phone?

AxolotlEars · 25/07/2023 12:48

Yes. I would ask him. See what his response is.

SiblingFights · 25/07/2023 12:52

When XH was carrying on with OW he had a spare phone...tale as old as time.

How do you know it's a woman's phone?

Yes, that's what I was going to ask?

Yes, that's what I was going to ask?

Wallpaper/background photo? Although could be guy'swith their gf on?

2bazookas · 25/07/2023 12:58

I'd definitrly call her to tell her I'd found her lost phone.

Then we'd have a conversation about where she left it and why...

TenoringBehind · 25/07/2023 12:58

My work phone stays charged for days/weeks because I almost never use it and it doesn’t have apps running on the background.

having in the glovebox is weird. Did whoever put it there want it to be found?

Oceanus · 25/07/2023 12:59

In what planet does a person leave their phone in the glove compartment of a car belonging to somebody else that just happened to innocently give them a ride?!
I've been given rides before and I have never ever put my phone inside the glove compartment. I could see it happen if it were an "open" compartment and a long ride otherwise it's unlikely to happen imho.
In my opinion there are two possibilities at the top of the list: somebody lost their phone, your DH found it and put it away to return later or whoever left their phone did it deliberately, knowing you would find it and it probably wasn't a coincidence it pinged while you were the one in control of the car.

ABugWife · 25/07/2023 13:07

As mentioned put the sim in your phone, even if there is nothing stored on it, you can use it to text yourself, you will then have the number to pop into whatsapp and see who it belongs to.

Keykaty · 25/07/2023 13:09

You know it belongs to a woman, how? You say you don't know her though.

Have you already checked it out as advised above? Tell us more OP, not sure what's going on.

How are you going to call her if you've got her phone?

tt9 · 25/07/2023 13:12

depends on who the woman is? a work colleague he gave a lift to? a friend? I have left my phone several times in several male friends' cars... can easily happen.

Pablothepalm · 25/07/2023 13:13

I’d make it disappear and sit on it and watch husband sweat. Can you look her up on Facebook or Instagram to see who she is?

Fiddlerdragon · 25/07/2023 13:14

BitOutOfPractice · 25/07/2023 12:41

How do you know it's a woman's phone?

Probably has a girly phone case. I’ve got a pink Disney one that has one of those cases that has water and glitter in (judge me all you like 😬). Not hard to tell a woman’s from a man’s phone in a lot of cases. Or she could have a pic of herself as her background 🤷🏼‍♀️

Isitautumnyet23 · 25/07/2023 13:14

Does he travel in the car with colleagues? If so, theres an explanation that colleague could have left it behind. If not, highly suspicious.

Tiredmummaoftwo · 25/07/2023 13:16

Is this not the definition of suspicious?

pendleflyer · 25/07/2023 13:16

nebulae · 25/07/2023 13:10

:)
this is the sort of sharp thinking I come here for.

Tiredmummaoftwo · 25/07/2023 13:17

... also my mum had an affair and hid the phone in the car.

sausagelastrange · 25/07/2023 13:23

The fact it was in a glove compartment (presumably one that closes with a latch etc) would personally be the reddest of flags for me. Accidentally left mobile phone slip off someone's lap and end up down the side of seats or under the seat (I've lost mine a few times and that's where I found it....).

Sorry doesn't look good but of course you need to ask him outright
