Found a phone in car

Would you be suspicious if a phone pinged in the glove compartment of your DH's car and it turned out to belong to a woman you don't know?

If you maybe give the context?

You know it belongs to a woman: so what woman? How do you know this? Would have have had any reason to give her a lift?

853ax · 25/07/2023 13:26

Glove compartment an unusual place to put phone too

PoshPineapple · 25/07/2023 13:27

Nah, wouldn't give it a second thought.

Seriously? Are you kidding???!

Mylovelygreendress · 25/07/2023 12:09

She could have left it on purpose ? If he has been cheating she has maybe become impatient . I have 2 friends who found OW’s items that they had deliberately left . One was a pair of lacy pants under the front car seat !

This. A friend even discovered lace pants in the wash and her DH tried to convince her he had accidentally picked them up from the gym in his gym bag and they were hers !!

keep it charged click on it to see why it pinged

unless it is a work phone there is no reason

DMLady · 25/07/2023 13:28

Silly question perhaps but how do you know it belongs to a woman?

CherryCokeFanatic · 25/07/2023 13:35

Could they have had sex in the car and she has forgotten it?

truthhurts23 · 25/07/2023 13:36

i second keeping the phone so he has to ask you for it , or surely the woman will be ringing it to try and find it and will have to explain who she is

Keykaty · 25/07/2023 13:38

Must be a burner phone. There must be very few people whose phone does not ping constantly with texts or calls etc. all day long. Maybe it does, are any numbers/names familiar?

I've lost my phone a couple of times, I always ring my number and have been very lucky to have had it returned to me that way. Surely "she" would ring the number to try and locate it?

HowcanIhelp123 · 25/07/2023 13:41

I'd be suspicious! Fair enough giving a friend of colleague a lift and it falling out a pocket down side etc, but why the hell would someone need to put their phone in the glove compartment instead of a pocket?

PrinceHaz · 25/07/2023 13:42

If you have a Ring doorbell, check it to see if he’s popped out to the car in the last 24 hours.

RudsyFarmer · 25/07/2023 13:43

Why yes I would!

Acornsoup · 25/07/2023 13:45

Have you asked him why it's there?

hiding5675687 · 25/07/2023 13:45

Does he often give people lifts? Someone could have left it in the car and he put it in the glovebox to keep it safe. But why would it still have charge. Definitely try to find out more, even if there is a seemingly innocent explanation.

SleepingStandingUp · 25/07/2023 12:08

How do you know it's a woman's phone? Can you get into it?

This is the main issue with this thread really.

TortolaParadise · 25/07/2023 13:50

littlebopeepp234 · 25/07/2023 12:40

This! I’d definitely do this. I wouldn’t ask him about it as he can deny it or claim it’s a ‘works phone’ or a ‘friend’s phone’

👀

Good point. I also think it must be a burner phone. I can't get into it and there hasn't been any notifications or pinging since.

The phone doesn't have a cover. The reason I think it's a woman's phone is because the reason it pinged was for a reminder, a daily female medical reminder. It was a fluke really that I was in the car at the time it pinged as I wouldn't usually be so I don't think it was planned to ping when I might be in the car. Having said that, if DH was intending to return a mislaid phone, it's more likely he would take it into the house rather than lean across from the driver's seat and put it in the glove compartment.

I have removed the phone anyway.

As mentioned put the sim in your phone, even if there is nothing stored on it, you can use it to text yourself, you will then have the number to pop into whatsapp and see who it belongs to

People are so clever!

DinnaeFashYersel · 25/07/2023 13:52

I wouldn't be suspicious. Its not unusual for my DH to give lifts to colleagues, friends, acquaintances - that I don't know.

I would ask who she is though.

kittensinthekitchen · 25/07/2023 13:52

How do you know who it belongs to? I'm assuming that means it's unlocked?

Anything incriminating in the messages or photos?

VisionsOfSplendour · 25/07/2023 13:52

You know its a woman you presumably also know who she is if you know that you don't know her so what's going on?

So many unanswered questions, do you think your husband is having an affair with a careless woman and he is stupid enough to put her pinging phone in the car?

kittensinthekitchen · 25/07/2023 13:53

Sorry x-posted.

If you don't know who it belongs to, how do you know you don't know the owner?

mumtoboys12 · 25/07/2023 13:53

Hmmm. Just ask him?

Cucucucu · 25/07/2023 13:53

Suspicious? Unless it’s his mum or sister unwound have packed his bags in the time it took to write you this

StaunchMomma · 25/07/2023 13:54

I'd assume another woman had left it there and would want to know who she is and why she was in his car.

Ispywithmycynicaleye · 25/07/2023 11:28

I found a 2nd phone before. It was locked so I put the sim I'm my phone, as I could unlock my own phone, and could see info that was stored on the phone.

Wow! That's clever..Didn't know that was possible!
