Boyfriend said he wished I died

Hi, this might be something or nothing but to be honest I’m slightly confused.

We are having issues anyway in our relationship but ok At the moment and in general... so we were play fighting and messing about with each other and then he randomly says he wished I would die... I just don’t get where it came from...

I straight away stepped back and asked what he said Incase I heard it wrong and he repeated it. Since then I haven’t spoke, he asked me smirking if I was going to be upset Because of it, asif it was nothing.

As I said, I’ve said nothing since and neither has he. Am I being over dramatic and what does it mean for someone to say that, especially not in an argument. I just find it weird, really weird and it has upset me, I think it’s a really strong thing to say.

Any help? I don’t know how to approach it or if I’m being too sensitive 🤨

With the smirking and not saying anything I can honestly say that is awful behaviour from him, really doesn't sound anything like playful teasing to me...

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/03/2020 20:59

He'd be single if you were me. That's a hateful thing to say and no one loving and normal would say it.

Does he have some trauma or disorder that you haven't mentioned?

DonnaDarko · 03/03/2020 21:00

He sounds lovely

Not

He doesn't sound like a nice person and as you have problems already, I would be reconsidering this relationship.

Hayb24 · 03/03/2020 21:01

That doesn't sound like playing to me. That's a really vile thing to say to someone, it's not funny at all. Honestly, he sounds like a dickhead

ErickBroch · 03/03/2020 21:01

Fucking weird - not acceptable

Pipandmum · 03/03/2020 21:03

Really hope he's your ex boyfriend now.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/03/2020 21:03

Freaky fucker.Run for the hills.

Iooselipssinkships · 03/03/2020 21:03

That sounds pretty scary to me, almost psychotic.
I think you need to get well away OP.

JoinTheMicrodots · 03/03/2020 21:04

Did you ask him why he said it @Mayjames ?

RickOShay · 03/03/2020 21:04

That’s awful. He’s the one with the problem here, not you.

timetest · 03/03/2020 21:05

That really is a hateful thing for him to say. I don’t think there is anywhere forward from it.

KeepYourWigOn · 03/03/2020 21:06

We'll this is definitely something rather than nothing. What a vile thing to say. It seems he doesn't like you very much OP.

Standinguptononsense · 03/03/2020 21:09

LTB

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 03/03/2020 21:13

What a knob. Just dump him. Not worth the grief.

Mayjames · 03/03/2020 21:13

Thank you for your responses, I’m glad I’m not over thinking how bad it is in my head! I’ve just broke the silence and asked him why he said it... he said he didn’t mean to say it 🙄 doesn’t know why he said it and he’s sorry. I just still find it soo weird and odd, it’s not something that just slips out 🙄

OP posts:
Walnutwhipster · 03/03/2020 21:15

He repeated it too! He would be an ex by now.

Mayjames · 03/03/2020 21:15

He’s acting like I’m overreacting and As though it was nothing... but then apologising 🤔

OP posts:
happytoday73 · 03/03/2020 21:18

It didn't just slip out.. He repeated it... He was after a reaction. He is testing you.. Put up with that next comment will be worse.
How long have you known him? Does he gave issues? Any endearing traits?

EmmiJay · 03/03/2020 21:19

Oh hell nah. Nope. I'd never be able to sleep near him again. One eye would always be open.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 21:19

The universe has better in store for you than this asshat.

Set yourself free before he greases the bannister!

ittakes2 · 03/03/2020 21:22

I think he sounds sick in the head! Please stay away from him. I would be worried for your safety.

EKGEMS · 03/03/2020 21:23

Oh for gods sake you need to go onto the Internet to ask total strangers to validate your reaction to hearing something so vile and offensive?

BoredOfTheBoard · 03/03/2020 21:23

He wants to upset you. The smirking tells you that. It makes him happy to see you upset.Sad

RuffleCrow · 03/03/2020 21:24

Oh my goodness. I know when you're young you think you're invincible, but any man who wanted you dead could do so with very little effort. Did you know 2-3 women a week in the UK are killed by a male partner or former partner. I would take it very seriously indeed and not wait around trying to figure him out. LTB.

LightenUpSummer · 03/03/2020 21:25

Sounds absolutely deranged!

Unless he has a neurological issue affecting his speech that's just weird as hell, and you must get away from him.
