Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

@StealthNinjaMum Sorry didn't want to make you feel bad. Good idea about taking it all reverse Cyrano De Bergerac and getting a creative in Grin Seriously, that sounds really strange Confused

LilyRose88 · 13/04/2019 13:25

Marlboro You are the PRIZE! He is not worthy of you. x

Mr Outdoors is currently driving over to collect me for a afternoon/evening/Sunday morning date. I am unable to drive due to first date induced foot injury and he is happy to do the honours. I have packed my bag (small overnight bag but slightly larger than a tote bag) and have condoms and lube in it as well as a change of clothes and a nice outfit for tonight as we are going out for dinner at a restaurant near him. All very exciting and I hope the shine doesn't disappear.

I have never tried Match as I didn't want to have to pay for a dating app, and I have found that POF is okayish - not brilliant but I just ignore all the hello babe and gorgeous messages. And there is an awful lot of bad grammar on it too, which really irritates me! Tinder is pretty awful normally, but I met Mr Outdoors on there. He did have a profile on POF apparently but we never came across each other as he is too young for my settings and lives too far away. I have never tried Bumble but I think my daughter had some success on it. I will ask her tomorrow.

Good luck everyone who is going on a date today/tonight. I will report back tomorrow after my date with Mr Outdoors.

Thanks lilyrose have fun!

JeSuisPrest · 13/04/2019 14:06

@LilyRose88 Have a great time.

I may as well confess now that I'm breaking a cardinal rule and meeting MrCornish at his place - he's cooking a roast and has made up the spare room for me 😳. My BFF has his name, address, home and mobile numbers, Facebook details and inside leg measurements and I'll be checking in with her periodically.

Sunshineandflipflops · 13/04/2019 14:10

JeSuis Is this your first date with him? I hope you like him enough to want to stay the night (and to not need the spare bed) Grin

JeSuisPrest · 13/04/2019 14:22

@Sunshineandflipflops Yes, our first date but he is scrummy and such a nice guy, I just hope he's as nice in person. I'll be relying on the holy trinity of some seriously sexy underwear, a Marvin Gaye playlist and cabernet sauvignon to see me through 😂

ponyprincess · 13/04/2019 14:39

Great trilogy JeSuisPriest Have a fabulous first date!!

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/04/2019 16:27

jesuis have fun, report back!!

Inliverpool1 · 13/04/2019 16:56

Bollocks I have just slept with someone on the 2nd date. Are we automatically doomed? First date was a 4 hour dog walk which went well. Plenty of texting after that. I do like him.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 13/04/2019 16:57

So just read through the updates and I have to say I'm terrible at just not replying when it's late. Normally because I've fallen asleep! I don't think I've ever said (to anyone) got to go to sleep. I just fall asleep and don't reply! Feel bad now 🙈.

ponyprincess · 13/04/2019 16:59

Out for a coffee with Mr Coffee and havr eacaped to the loo. He has been talking about himself nonstop for 1.5 hours and not asked one single question about me. I think I need to wrap it up!!

Inliverpool1 · 13/04/2019 17:00

Yawn ... nothing worse PP

ItsAMiracle2015 · 13/04/2019 17:33

@Inliverpool1 why would you be doomed? I slept with ex on 1st date and we were together 11 years. If it feels right, then no reason not to 😊

ponyprincess · 13/04/2019 17:34

inliverpool1 no reason to be doomed-my last two year relationship started with a first date sleepover. Assuming it was good relax and enjoy

ponyprincess · 13/04/2019 17:39

Mr Coffee literally would not stop talking even when I made up an excuse and said I had to go. I had to just interrupt him say good bye and walk away. Now he just text me to say when can he see me again 😲

Inliverpool1 · 13/04/2019 17:45

PP - he know thinks you’re treating him mean to keep him keen 😂

Phew glad to hear it’s not a complete disaster then ... it was amazing then he had to dash off to play rugby 😜
I shall away his text I guess

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/04/2019 17:49

pony what a twat!

itamiracle do you? Am I been over judgy with Mr Big then?

I don’t think I updated the thread on the convo I had with Mr Big re condoms the other day. The convo let to me asking him how many people he was dtd with. He said just me! I thought he had at least one other FWB but he said he dropped her as she got very clingy and was constantly questioning him about why he didn’t message straight back etc. Was v strange as we are both active on the apps but we agreed we would keep each other fully informed. So I guess we are accidentally exclusive even though it’s not going anywhere 🙈 and will become unexclusive again if we find anyone we like!

ponyprincess · 13/04/2019 18:03

A twat indeed! At least it was a quick time to meet and I didn't invest loads of.time texting before finding out.

marlboroandmalbec34 sounds like you are both happy with the arrangement and communicate well, that is all good!

ItsAMiracle2015 · 13/04/2019 18:03

I dunno Marlboro maybe it's me? Mr Guitarist is the same so I really haven't thought about it. Mr Baker used to moan that I hadn't replied quick enough and actually asked if it was because I was talking to other people. It did my head in. When I do reply I always say why I hadn't replied straight away. If it was like a day or 2 later then yeah that's rude. But I'm terrible late at night or first thing in the morning. I genuinely never say 'got to go' or 'message later'. I just don't reply and then message later. Seriously, maybe it's me?!!! 🙈😂😂

MrDrummer · 13/04/2019 18:17

@Marlboroandmalbec34

The convo let to me asking him how many people he was dtd with. He said just me!

I mis-read that and thought you had popped his cherry!!!!!

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/04/2019 18:20

Haha drummer def not 😂

Mmmmmm maybe I won’t go in all guns blazing then itsamiracle obviously just different message styles

pony I change my mind daily on what I want from him 😂

Youreadthebabybooks · 13/04/2019 18:44

Can I join in?
First step into dating after divorce we’ll sort of during divorce it’s not finalised
Had a couple of dates with someone I knew from years ago
Seems to be going well
I need some rules tho
Do I play hard to get ? ie not replying to messages quickly ? Being evasive initially with next dates ?
Or as 30 something do I just text when I want and suggest dates when I want
Haven’t been single since my teens so don’t know if the rules of treat them mean to keep them keen is that still a thing ?

ItsAMiracle2015 · 13/04/2019 18:48

@Youreadthebabybooks I would always message when you want and arrange dates when you want. I see no point in playing hard to get, in my opinion, as what happens when they do get you? Or do you just continue to play hard to get? 🤷. Enjoy it!

Inliverpool1 · 13/04/2019 18:59

I wouldn’t bother with rules or games, they either want you or they don’t tbh

Youreadthebabybooks · 13/04/2019 19:15

Ok good to know
It’s tricky with kids anyway can’t always reply or commit to dates
I may need some style advice for next date though !
