Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

Totally agree Sidge I'm just not replying to his messages now. I'm not tolerating another man question me like this.

Focus - oh I'm sorry to hear this. Is be a bit wary about the ex situation. Even IF he is separated from her, is he moving to quick for him. As in will he be ready to jump from one relationship to another with you. That would concern me slightly.

lifegoes · 24/02/2019 09:50

@Lovemusic33 thank you, I agree. My ex was ridiculously controlling and all the traits of a narcissist. I didn't see it at the time. But I think I've spotted similar traits in this one. Or it's my ex behind it somehow. Either way I'm out.

Focus2019 · 24/02/2019 09:55

@lifegoes that doesn't bother me so much I was ready to date straight after I left my ex as it had been over for a long time it's the same with him - I guess he will have more freedom though that but worries me am I convenient for now? Well I will find out he would need to be a complete bastard to string me along after the message I sent him so it will with move forward or it will be over x

Lovemusic33 · 24/02/2019 09:55

life I’m a bit paranoid about my ex getting to me through online dating, I get anxious when anyone messages me from his town, crazy I know but I know that he would do something like this, so any sign that he’s involved I would be gone. There are plenty of nice men out there that are not controlling idiots.

user1466783975 · 24/02/2019 10:01

Thanks sidge, that makes sense. He looks a lot younger and has a lot of single friends in their 40s and told me he has pretty much slept with all the women in his town over the years (two long relationships where he never strayed).Always out partying every night but health issues has made him think, hence now moving away to somewhere remote and having a different life style.
He said i'm the first woman not to sleep with him??!! I suppose i'm a challenge to him but my reason is i'm wanting a proper connection first and not getting emotionally hurt.
I suppose with one nighters it grew lol.
focus I hope he wants what you do and is happy to go exclusive. Sounds like he has a lot on at the mo so just hang in there

lifegoes · 24/02/2019 10:07

@Focus2019 that's understandable, awww I hope you get the happy reply back. Xx

@user1466783975 this one didn't approach me through OLD he approached me via social media. It was only after a few days I'd seen he was friends with my ex. I mentioned my ex (not via name) but said he was a controlling jealous man. He didn't flinch, so thought he doesn't know about him.
But anyway it's over, you are right can't be putting myself back into that

@shitwithsugaron thank you I'm at the point where I can't just keep seeing him if he's seeing others so if it ends it ends. Still not heard from him so the nerves are growing he's read my message and been online this morning but I know he's with his boy this morning so I can be patient.

@lifegoes me too 🤞🤞🤞 but I will walk away if I don't get what I need.

Thanks @user1466783975

Focus2019 · 24/02/2019 10:42

@user1466783975 when I met my ex husband his penis was very small when limp and he struggled to get hard but that went away and when he was hard it was good never huge but enough. I'd say give him a chance.

TooOldForThis67 · 24/02/2019 10:48

user - I had someone who had an unimpressive soft penis but when it grew, wow, it was like a magic trick Grin.

helpmeoutout · 24/02/2019 11:03

Hi everyone.

Yep I have seen a few small ones in my time, sometimes they grow in to beasts and other times they stay exactly the same. Regardless of size though I always try my best not to have any reaction hahaha I sometimes wonder if it's nerve racking for guys when they have to whip it out for the first time.

Had a night out with my iron last night. Slightly hungover this morning. He's invited me to a wedding next month. I like how things are going at the moment, I'm almost ready to have him round at my place once my baby has gone to bed. It's a huge step buy my baby is a huge part of my life (obviously). Considering we talk about the future, I think it's important that he sees me in mum mode at some point. No rush though but getting to the point where I feel ready.

TooOldForThis67 · 24/02/2019 11:11

helpmeout - Aww, sounds like it's going great and being invited to a Wedding is a sure sign he's into you.

Update time! I met the Fab couple last night and really got on well with the girl, but not so sure about the guy. He was a lot older than he had said and he didn't speak much. It ended up being me and the girl dancing and chatting most of the evening. I really liked her and I think she liked me, but I am not sure whether anything further will happen as I didn't really get many vibes off the guy. I did have quite a few glasses of wine as I was nervous but I wasn't falling over drunk or anything. I am going on holiday next week and they know that, so maybe they will get in touch when I get back. Actually I might text them today to see what they want to do next. A threesome is one of those things on my bucket list and I want to do it before I get into a serious relationship with somebody.

Mr Much Younger texted me yesterday and is taking me out to dinner tonight. And of course I am falling for him, despite trying hard not to. Hence my wish to have that bloody threesome quickly! Grin.

There are a couple of other guys that I am talking to on POF but I am being a bit half hearted about it as they are really just back ups in case it goes pear shaped with Mr Much Younger.

User some guys are very small sadly, so maybe he was just naturally small rather than old and shrivelled. It depends whether penetration is important to you as he might be great at foreplay Grin.

lifegoes your guy sounds weird - I would stay away from him as it started strangely (didn't he contact you on Instagram?) and the link with your ex is odd.

lifegoes · 24/02/2019 11:34

@LilyRose88 maybe the guy is a bit shy with starting it all in person. She seems interested, so fingers crossed for you that they go ahead. She will probably have the final decision. Have they done it before did they say?

Yeah it's all very strange, he did yes only a few weeks after I ended with my ex. If I didn't have his number, his behaviour is on par with my ex (minus the lies about his wife)

Focus2019 · 24/02/2019 11:40

@LilyRose88 glad it went ok and hopefully you will get to cross it off your bucket list.

My double date isn't for a couple of weeks I'm excited and nervous about it you will need to keep us updated.

LilyRose88 · 24/02/2019 11:50

Another update! Just got a text from the couple and they both like me! We will meet up when I get back from holiday. They are looking for a regular girl to have fun with but I think for me it will probably be a one-off. I haven't said that to them as who knows how I might feel afterwards. I have said that it would only be one a month or so, not a frequent arrangement.

Justme1981 · 24/02/2019 11:51

TooOldForThis67 · 24/02/2019 12:06

Glad it went well Lily. You might love it or hate it but well done for pursuing this itch. Can't wait for further updates!
Welcome Justme. It's difficult dating with a young child, arranging child care etc but I'm managing and so do many others. Good luck with the date tonight - update awaited!

I've just uninstalled WhatsApp so I don't keep looking to see if MrBE has msg me. He always goes to his sisters for Sunday lunch and I'm a bit miffed that seeing as we missed out on last night, that he didn't want to do something today with me. I'm child free!

User amazing news. I'm so happy for you. 😘

Tooold if you delete the app, he might message you and you wont get it. Have you decided to knock it on the head?

TooOldForThis67 · 24/02/2019 12:25

life - Apparently if you do a back up and don't actually delete your account, you can re-install and will get any msgs sent while you were off.

@TooOld well, every day is a school day. I did not know this at all. I just thought they wouldn't be delivered. The times I could have done with this tip.

I hope he gets back to you, I know you like him. Try to keep occupied xx

KhaleesiTargaryen · 24/02/2019 12:41

Hi all, im just new to OLD after a breakup which dragged on and left me feeling a bit crap.
I’ve joined tinder and swiped few guys but I’m finding it hard to judge how interested someone is... one guy was texting loads the first night, asking to meet and then I haven’t heard anything since Thursday.
Another 2 I’m texting about twice a day for a few days and both seem quite nice.
The 4th matched with me last week but only texted today.
So, I’m thinking 1 is off because surely he’d want to keep in touch?
2/3 both good. But how long should you message before expecting a date?

  1. I’ve not replied yet. Not sure if not bothering for 4 days is a slight or not 😂

Sorry for all the questions I just down know if there are contact “rules” to not come across too keen or available in OLD. I’ve heard of these pen-pal types!

life this guy sounds horrible. He may be just like your ex, or in kahoots, or just an unpleasant guy. Whatever the reason these red flags would put me right off.
focus hope you get something positive from him. I can see where you’re coming from with the moving out thing and how that might affect him. Fingers crossed for you.

KhaleesiTargaryen · 24/02/2019 12:53

user that’s lovely!!!

tooold that’s true about WhatsApp. I’ve deleted and reinstalled. If you set it to back up it will restore any messages up til that backup but delete others. So if your weekly backup is on a Thursday and you delete the app on Sunday you will lose any messages sent after Thursday (unless you do a manual backup right before you delete). When you reinstall you’ll get any that were sent between deleting and reinstalling
