Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

batshit haha seems so. Have accepted the date. I'll call him Mr researcher. Seems clever but have to wait and see if he's fun

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/02/2019 10:21

Mr Bluebird will coincidentally be near the same London station as me, at about the same time as I may be on my way through after my date with Mr Cavalier. We've agreed to play it by ear and see if we can meet 😬

SortingItOut · 10/02/2019 10:42

@shitwithsugaron

  1. Yes, get as much sex as you can Wink
  1. I used to be the same but now I don't care what guys think of me, I'm not looking for a partner, just an FB, either they like me or they don't. This is me and I'm not about to start losing weight for anyone.

Go for it!!!

How important is it for you to be on the same page politically as your dates? I spoke to one of my potential dates from POF last night and he seemed a nice guy but when we got onto politics he told me that he voted Brexit and is definitely more right wing than me. No unpleasant racist or xenophobic views thankfully as that is a complete red flag for me, but we do have different political stances.

I am not sure whether this matters as I have some exes who are total twunts but have similar political views to me, so maybe I ought to get off my soap box and give someone with different views a chance. What do you think?

WarIsPeace · 10/02/2019 12:17

Politics wise, depends if they are an actual potential partner or just a bit of fun. I mean I have spent naked time with a self identifying tory but I wouldn't settle down with one Grin that said I'm politically homeless myself these days so I can't really demand a particular leaning either

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/02/2019 12:32

Nice guy, don't fancy him 😬

LilyRose88 · 10/02/2019 12:45

Warls I think I am becoming a bit more tolerant of other people's political views as I get older, as long as they are not offensive. The guy in question is one of my POF potential dates for a relationship, as opposed to a Tinder or Fab bit of fun. Of course once I meet him I might either move him over to the 'bit of fun' camp or decide he is a twunt who I never want to see again!

TooOldForThis67 · 10/02/2019 12:52

Seems like a few of us are having the same 'problem' with juggling dates!
So, MrBE drove me home and we had a talk in the car. Seems like we are both very keen but nervous. He said he was brought up to respect women and doesn't just jump into bed with them for the sake of sex. I said I'd never met anyone like him before and that's what makes me nervous. Daft really. I kinda promised him that the next 'date' would be round mine and we'd defo dtd.
So, he dropped me off and I made a show of going in then once he was down the road, I set off to MrYoung's - 5 min walk. I rang him and said I'm on my way and before I hung up he said 'love you', I thought what!!
So, he's watched wrestling (MMA) and the main fight isn't on til around 3. I'm v tired and just want to sleep so I said I'm going home and just left. He kept sending msgs and like an idiot I went back. I kept trying to sleep but he wasn't having it. I said, look, we can f*ck in the morning. He started ranting and raving and ordered me out!! Wtaf.
I'm in tears walking home, with my dog.
So, that's the end of MrYoung but I'm worried, he's obviously a bit of a psycho and could pop up and ruin things with MrBE.
I know all this is my fault and by double dating I've confused both of them. Lesson learnt. The End. Sad

SortingItOut · 10/02/2019 13:02

TooOld*What kind of man orders a female out of his house in the middle of the night.

You are well rid, I don't care how good looking or good in bed he is.

So he waned you to sit up or sleep next to him while he watched wrestling and to then have sex - that's hardly romantic.

Mr BE has to be a better bet....

Mulie · 10/02/2019 13:06

Oh TooOld what a horrible night with Mr Young.

Has he been in touch since? He definitely sounds a bit unhinged going from “I love you” to chucking you out in the early hours. Total scum bag.

Mr BE sounds the complete opposite and quite lovely.

IndieTara · 10/02/2019 13:10

Go with Mr BE obviously!

MyOldBrainStoppedWorking · 10/02/2019 13:31

TooOld what a horrible thing for Mr Young to do.
Mr BE however, sounds lovely.
Not your fault, Mr Young was a twat when he didn't get his own way.

BatshitCrazy it makes me so annoyed when men think you can just drop everything and meet them immediately. Then have the cheek to complain that you have no time to date.
Spontaneous dates are great but we all have busy lives. I'll make time for someone I'm in a relationship with, but until then dates happen when I have time.

Well after feeling positive yesterday as Mr South African had messaged me a nice good morning message, since then I haven’t heard a thing from him, his messaged yesterday ended with ‘hope you have a good day, catch up with you later’. I know he was seeing friends today so probably busy, I’m trying hard not to over think and play it cool. I probably should talk to other irons but I find it hard to chat to more than one at a time let alone date multiples people.

OMG TooOld what a crazy guy! Thank goodness you found out before it went too far. Good luck with Mr BE.

Lovemusic fingers crossed for you and the South African. All quiet on the messaging front for me so far today.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/02/2019 14:54

TooOld he's a twat!! Go with Mr BE!

I'm still on this bloody date but there's no spark and he wants to order food 😬 would ferl rude to go .... And he lied about his age - he's 58 not 52 ad he said on Tinder Angry

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/02/2019 14:54

*as he said

RollsEyes · 10/02/2019 15:03

@BatshitCrazyWoman, seeing as he lied, I'd say it's perfectly acceptable to bring your date to a close now. Just say that you hadn't anticipated staying out that long and you need to get back. The thanks but no thanks text can then follow. Wink

Lovemusic33 · 10/02/2019 15:08

Bat make an excuse and leave. I would be annoyed that he lied about his age. Follow up with a thanks but no thanks message or say you don’t date people that lie.

IndieTara · 10/02/2019 16:06

Or you could just bring the date to a close by being honest. He lied you don't need to

TooOldForThis67 · 10/02/2019 16:12

Bat - Lying by 5 yrs is not acceptable but at least he did fess up straight away I suppose. Hope you got out of the date ok.

MrYoung has been blocked. Have a horrible feeling he'll just turn up one day. So, yes, am now going to concentrate on MrBE and will defo not see two irons at once again if MrBE doesn't work out.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/02/2019 16:40

Yes I made an excuse and left. The lying really pisses me off. He looked a lot older than me so I guessed he'd lied (he said he was 52, which is nearly 3 years younger than me). Bit of a shame that Mr Bluebird couldn't meet up as that would have killed two birds as it were ...😅

Lying really really annoys me. And he certainly should have told me before we actually met ...

@TooOldForThis67 huh? Why on earth did he react like that, what was his problem?!!

Well done for blocking him though
