Feeling a little bit down in the dumps about my lack of a love life...

I'm a 35 year old single mum to a five year old DD. Split up with her dad when I found out I was pregnant however it was all a bit complicated as we had occasional 'reunions' until she was about a year old and I said enough and finally cut it all off.

Ex is now happily coupled up with a new girlfriend, which I'm totally OK about. No feelings between us anymore, so not at all complicated.

I've had a couple of short term relationships since then, lasting no more than 6 months.

I find it difficult to meet new men. I've tried OLD but haven't got anywhere with it. Most of the men I meet in RL are married/coupled up. I have had lots of crushes on men, even if they are single I don't think they even know I exist. I am unbelievably horny all of the time.

I just don't think it's going to happen for me. I don't think I'll ever meet someone nice. The type of guys who do express interest are usually weirdos/creeps/in relationships. Am dismayed why I attract these types and not a normal, nice single guy.

I never get asked out. I think I'm OK looking, am reasonably intellegent (have a degree and currently doing an MA), kind, caring etc. I think I'm a nice person. I just don't seem to be able to meet someone who thinks the same.

Don't really know why I'm posting, I guess just to get it off my chest. Feeling a bit down about it all at the moment. This idea that I will be left on the shelf for ever.

Bit difficult to go to a pantera gig ,they don't exist anymore ,as the guitarist was shot in killed while playing at a gig ! Might try a metallica gig instead !

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 21:13

Metallica never used to bother me until I saw the 'Enter Sandman' vid - that's my little boy you punks are disturbing!

just popping a Guinea pig in the microwave

roverman75 · 02/11/2016 21:23

My kids won't watch that video either ,something to with the snakes !
Anyway back to being on the shelf , it's awfully quiet tonight , I guess they've all found something exciting to do !

1DAD2KIDS · 02/11/2016 21:29

Ha, been years since I been to a gig. Last one was a ska festival in the World's end in Camden. I always keep saying I will go see Bad Religion live next time their in the UK. Never get round to it but I should. Those old punks ain't getting younger.

Don't want brag but I am kid free and no work for the next 2 days. Now I know I should be catching up on housework and diy etc but you know what I am going to have a bit of me time instead. Plus I may have a little company lined up tomorrow night. For now it's time to crack open the booze and await the Tesco delivery. I have a tone of nappies, wet wipes and fish fingers heading my way tonight.

roverman75 · 02/11/2016 21:34

1dad ,nice shopping list ,didn't realise tesco deliver this late ! Have a day to myself tomorrow for the first time in several weeks ,all the kids are either in school or college all day Wahoo! Only problem is don't know what to do with myself ,especially as I feel pretty crap after today .

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 21:36

Well, Wednesday night is bin night for me - who said singles didn't have an exciting life?

roverman75 · 02/11/2016 21:41

Mines tomorrow night , mind you a tip visit is due ,got a tv to dump.
Think I might visit a beach tomorrow ,was brought up by the sea and I get miserable if I don't see it on a regular basis , need to find something for tomorrow or I'll be sat on the shelf ,sulking all day !

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 21:55

I'm lucky enough to live in Cornwall, and we're five minutes away from the beach, so there's always that! Don't think I could live too far from the coast myself.

1DAD2KIDS · 02/11/2016 21:59

I have a 10-11pm slot. It is funny what is possible theses days. It scary I really don't know what to do with my self tonight. I am home alone and it feels odd, plus a little sad. May watch some TV because that is something I never get to do because of my shifts and housework. What do the cool kids watch theses days. Honestly I haven't got the foggiest what's on TV these day. My TV normally has Thomas the tank engine, pepper pig or my girl watching YouTube videos of yanks opening giant surprise novelty eggs.

Or I may just run a nice bubble bath and get through a few more drinks left from my house party a few weeks ago (bit late as I moved in over a year ago). In fact that sound an idea. The cat always comes up and ballences on the side of the bath. I am still waiting for the day he miss judges jumping up on the side and falls in.

stubbornstains · 02/11/2016 22:02

Howdy Jess! Me too Smile

The worst thing about Cornwall? Going on an OLD site and seeing loads of men you actually know in real life!

(and hoping none of them are Camborne slurry man, who I've just been talking about on another thread Grin. Maybe that's why I have an ingrained prejudice against men whose profiles say they're from Camborne?!)

roverman75 · 02/11/2016 22:06

I've no idea what's on tv these days ,I only watch certain programs I like , otherwise I tend to read ,listen to some music or listen to planet rock on the radio ,might just go to bed or finish reading the new issue of practical classics mag. (Had one of my cars in it a few years ago ) . Have to drop eldest son a college first thing in the morning ! Time for a drink .!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 22:07

stubborn. Yes! Too many small towns! And my own particular small town isn't a million miles away from Camborne! (Begins with an 'H' Grin)

stubbornstains · 02/11/2016 22:08

The one with Philps or the one with Horse and Jockey? Wink

1DAD2KIDS · 02/11/2016 22:11

I when on a date once with a wee school teacher in Cornwall when I was on Exercise down there. I pulled her the time i was previously down there in a night club in Redruth. We went to a beach up the road from Portreath, all I can remember is it has a small Hut like cafe and a car park. That's a bout all I know of Cornwall; I was normally either playing soliders, swimming in the sea or very very drunk.

stubbornstains · 02/11/2016 22:14

Tsk tsk, you sound like a Bad Influence 1DAD Grin

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 22:14

1DAD. God, I know.... Should I commit myself to Game of Thrones? I'm not sure I can be arsed. Too much research.... What is cool on TV these days (and nobody say 'Gotham' - that was shite)

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 22:15

stubborn. Philps! Grin

stubbornstains · 02/11/2016 22:18

Ha, of course, the other is TEN minutes from the beach! (it's my local town Smile). Did you read the GoT books? I loved them (although had reservations about the sex and violence). I got about 5 mins into the first TV episode- it's visually stunning and well acted- but the sex and violence is even worse than in the books! I wish they'd release a PG version for wusses like me....

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 22:22

Wouldn't up the road from Portreath with the little cafe and car park be Hell's Mouth? Lovely romantic spot, 1DAD.....

1DAD2KIDS · 02/11/2016 22:22

No I am good a gold, with a little dash of mischief. It's been an intresting life. But these days it's all about nappies and toy everywhere.

Tesco just come. Loads of Tesco value ice lollies. 8 for 63p. A far as my kids are concerned as long as I keep the value lollies coming I am a good dad.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 22:25

stubborn Wait - sex and violence in Cornwall? Tell me more! (more the sex bits - what's GoT?)

1DAD2KIDS · 02/11/2016 22:25

I don't do know. She picked me up and did the driving. There was a lot of people there enjoying the beach and sea. It was nice but I think the romance was lost on us.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 02/11/2016 22:27

Awww, 1DAD - not just a good dad but a cool dad (you are now another victim of my god awful puns)

stubbornstains · 02/11/2016 22:29

Game of Thrones!

Far too bleddy mild for any kind of scary ice zombies down here! "Winter is Coming"- ur no? Grin

1DAD2KIDS · 02/11/2016 22:39

Thanks. Honestly I think I could send the kids out in rags and bath them for two years and they would be happy as long as the value lollies are always kept stocked up. But the moment we run out my little girl would probably be on the phone to childline.

I did watch GoT up to series 5. I installed some CCTV cameras for one of the lads at work. I said I didn't want anything for it. But he remember me asking what it was like and ordered me the box set. I got hooked and watched them all, plus missed some valuable sleep to fit it into my life. Haven't seen any of the newer ones as I am too tight to buy the latest box sets.
