The Rules:

  1. Develop a thick skin
  2. Do not invest emotionally too soon
  3. It's all BS until it actually happens
  4. Trust your gut instinct
  5. People vanishing, lying and being generally weird to you are not your fault
  6. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you
  7. If it's not fun, stop
  8. Loo update is mandatory

dippin I suspended my account before the subscription ended for precisely that reason. I just got sick of rejecting the same faces and blocking men who were repeatedly looking.

Boring, boring, boring!

Apologies for starting the new thread before the old one was filled up Grin is that bad mn form?! I am tragically excited to start a thread that might actually get filled up!!

Good to see you Bant

My own dating life is actually pretty boring right now, things seem to be poodling along quite nicely with Smallfeet. Have arranged a day out on Sat so he can meet my dd properly, am hopeful she will like him but will have to see I guess.

I would say to those of you ODs you have to keep a bit of an open mind, If I liked someones profile I would def contact them first to say 'hello - I liked your profile.'

Likewise I can't be doing with sending messages back and forth for ages - I would rather ask them out than wait ages for them to make up their mind!!

Also don't dismiss a bloke purely because he is not the right height/ colour hair/ in the wrong job - these things are superficial and it's more important to meet them and decide if the things that do matter are there ie a good person/ loyal/ caring/ funny etc

Thats just my opinion anyway Wink the chap I have been seeing for 3 months did not fit my criteria at all but he is (so far) a good guy who I really like.

girlie you are right when you say don't dismiss .. I'm meeting the guy soon.. he is same height which i find hard when I want to wear heels . But hey ho I'm going for dinner and we will see.. I don't know how many times I have thought about cancelling tonight , but I will go through with it.

Any advice on how to tell if a man is after .... well just one thing? I am not sure I can tell the difference between fake flattery and a genuine bloke!

Report
girliefriend · 20/02/2014 19:55

I think ofg if the flattery is a bit ott then that would send warning signals to me, it's nice to be told you look nice etc but if they go on about it a lot that puts me off. I want them to like all of me not just the physical me iyswim?!

I'm sure I remember the tortoise jumping in a taxi cab half way through the cartoon to speed things up.

Jarlin I just spat my tea everywhere at twin rooms Grin Grin Grin

That is very funny. I think if he gets into his pjs with a nice cup of cocoa, with no hint of pushing the beds together at that point - tortoise or no tortoise - I would call it a day!!

Hi ladies. .do you mind if I join the chat? I need encouragement at the mo. Had a big disappointment before Xmas. Met 'mr van man' in RL and thought he was perfect. He likes me too & lives 50 yds away. Sadly also has the hots for a newly single teacher and I lost out Sad Sad Have tried OLD once since & got talking to 'short fat estate agent' Not my type at all but sounded fun & we spent hours on the phone. Date was arranged ( his suggestion) then he blew me out on the day & vanished shortly thereafter. What is that about? ? I don't get men. Inspire me please. I seem to attract wasters ( sighs and considers the merits of becoming a nun )

Jarlin Thanks, I'll give it a bit more time and see what happens.

I had to laugh at your twin rooms situation, although his honeymoon suite comment sounds kind of promising. What did you say in response to that? You can both squeeze into a single bed, you know Wink.

jarlin my guy is really backwards in coming forwards, and I have to make all the moves. He's always really enthusiastic when I do, but it IS a bit tiresome. When I point out that I'm always making the first move he's really incredulous and can't see it. Hmm

Hi blossom I suppose I thought I was maybe being too picky & shallow. I thought that his 'personality' might shine through Grin Now I'm just bloody annoyed that he had the cheek to waste my time! !!

Maybe that text was his way of trying to read you Jarlin? Maybe he was hoping you'd give him a hint as to whether you'd prefer to hold hands chastely aross the gap or push them together....

Folk your man sounds lovely.

scorned I am learning quick, I dismis loads, then talk on the phone and then if they sound good then meet. Be picky !!!

Report
Santaclaws · 21/02/2014 00:25

girliefriend I absolutely agree, it's best not to have too strict a criteria and when you meet look for the things that DO matter. Bricky absolutely did NOT fit my criteria, apart from I'd always fantasised about dating a builder. Anyway he's not great looking, has nice body though, but so far anyway he seems to be a lovely person who I feel very comfortable with and we have a great time.

We've had a lovely evening tonight and he wants to see me Saturday and Sunday, seems very keen. All good so far

Is it normal though to find someone not particularly attractive sexually when you look at them, but when you kiss ect they do turn you on? This is something new to me, I've always fancied the look of the person first

jarlin mr shiny is no longer on the scene, after the last boring date I said I would let him know when I'm free but I never have and he hasn't contacted me, thank goodness. I'm quite happy with Bricky
