Broken you could do the write a draft email thing, and never send it, obviously. It's very cathartic, you get to say whatever it is you want to say, without the inevitable pain and setback of actually contacting them.

I think i am just careful about watching out for what Juliette's word was - entitlement.

of course interesting/good looking types who can bring me into a new world rather than just "lets sit and watch TV" always appeal - I know i go weak at knees for a certain "look" - but someone who is "well I'm such a catch in such a sexy profession, I don't even need to try" is a turn off!

Its not really anything to do with any situations on this thread. Just seen too many people IRL (some my own family -chinese culture) value dating/being in a relationship with "someone big in X profession" (or "someone so beautiful they impress everyone") over someone who is actually pleasant to deal with

They always look very worn out and tired by the end of the relationship, even if they did get the "prize"!

Bollock am pissed. Broken I wrote you a post which would have solved all your problems but it got lost and now I can't remember. The gist was to give new people a chance. The first time I met my l-t ex I didn't speak to him. The first time I met LM I decided I wasn't going to meet up again as he wasn't my type. With hindsight, those were both great plans but I went on to have relationships with them both. My point being, what you get on a first date is in no way going to compare with what you had in a LTM. Give things a chance. Unless they're a doctor .. .

After a good think back on the question of embarrassing jobs, I can't come up with any. Just embarrassing boyfriends.

haha , oh for me, the shame of being lonely and young and going for someone hideous because "because we're not sure something better will turn up".

One very good dating blogger i read advised as follows:

"recognise and acknowledge to yourself when you're lonely or need attention, because that is when you end up accepting the bad ones".

Is there a way to block numbers on iPhone? The nob end who sent me the 'classy' message earlier in the week obviously didn't take the hint when I blocked him on WhatsApp... Got a phone call, voicemail AND a text last night (clearly on his return from the pub where telling women he'd like to take them from behind and hard didn't work either ) saying he'd like to chat. Could have almost forgiven him if he'd started any of the messages with something like "I'm so sorry about that last comment" but no, just acting as if nothing untoward had ever happened.

Meanwhile, quite keen on another chap who wants to take me out, but no date set yet.... Why couldn't he be the one leaving drunken messages?!

So just ignore ignore ignore the knobhead. I have theory that the more socially awkward a man is, the more he gets rejected, so the more he "pushes" for a meet or sex or whatever. Quality men -in UK dating culutre - are used to having attention/contacts reciprocated/replied to so don't need to send message after message and know how to "take hints".
