wHERE i WORKED BEFORE IT was common for colleagues to ask each other home for dinner etc I asked a younger colleague and thought she would refuse being 10 years younger etc she would have more to do,She immediately asked if she could bring a friend but gave no details. This girl came along -also much younger and nothing in common with me -nothing against her but little in common re intersts, background etc HOWEVER she was keen to meet me I asked why she had been broughtt here and the reply was "the Church* but the girl was an atheist.Other family members/friends did not like her. I could not have invited her to my home as I did not know her could I?But the girl said I had been told about her and that is why I invited her Rubbish I was told nothing about her As these 2 were close friend I think the likelehood was she was told about me and the other one wanted to meet me otherwise she would have refused the invite: please adjudicate on this .

Ah, you got there before me, LadyBeagleEyes Grin

HillyWallaby · 07/05/2012 15:58

I have not had the pleasure of Sharon the Hoor. Is she a RL person of the telly or will I be enlightened by some advanced searching?

(it is practically deviant not to drink. Come Onnnnn...that bastard Canadian deserved all he got.)

HillyWallaby · 07/05/2012 15:58

off the telly.

CurrySpice · 07/05/2012 16:26

We are assuming the Church is a Christian church. I'm now thinking it's more likely that it was some shady llama worshiping sect from Peru

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 16:38

And was the bil at the get together with A2 and the C? Confused

snax84 · 07/05/2012 17:53

Ok been lurking through & think I have Sussed it.
Op invited original girl over as felt it was the thing to do
Agreed og could bring friend
Og was a Christian
Friend is loner
Op does not understand why og is friends with loner & feels as both herself & loner are atheists og was trying to ship off her atheist friend
Op feels og should have enough things to do within her church & does not understand why she is bothering with atheist friend who is like a charity case

I think………Hmm

LadyBeagleEyes · 07/05/2012 18:04

I'm not sure if you can still find Sharon, Hilly, but the thread was most surreal.
A bit like this one.

winefairy · 07/05/2012 19:22

Sharon.

tribpot · 07/05/2012 22:03

I said he was his dad because he was childish kicking off over being called bungle

Glorious. Classic. The internet was almost literally invented for this. Who the fuck is Bagda? Is the OP of this thread Bagda? Was Sharon a Christian?

Blatherskite · 07/05/2012 22:07

This thread is a bit random. But then Fish Monkey Donkey Hat.

tribpot · 07/05/2012 22:12

Blathers. You forgot moussaka.

likeatonneofbricks · 07/05/2012 22:19

snax, yes, it's what i think too. But it's strange that OP is questioning their friendship - it's exactly a Christian thing to do to befriend people (especially with not mich social life, i.e. easier to influence, they may think) amnd try to convert them. It's something that they'd have praised for by the Church. But OP is annoyed that this guest was pullong wool over her eyes as her friend is nothing to do with Church but is atheist, so this was a 'false' explanation, and her inderhand motive was to pass this friend onto OP as possibly the colleague got fed up converting this friend! but we dont know what the motives of the colleague really were. AS I suggested before as a joke, maybe she wanted to show how atheists like Op aern't friendly or hospitable as part of the plan to endear her to noce Christians Grin

likeatonneofbricks · 07/05/2012 22:20

*get praised (not 'have')

Nobhead · 07/05/2012 22:21

This is weird- what's the problem? I'm not sure I get the point of this thread. Am I being a bit "fick"?

likeatonneofbricks · 07/05/2012 22:21

*nice Christians
and hat was re comment 'she's here because of the Church' (false explanation that annoyed OP).

AnyFucker · 07/05/2012 22:22

I think that Wine was off.... Hmm

tantrumsandballoons · 07/05/2012 22:26

I am also thick, and 7 pages in, still clueless about who was BU and why.
My verdict On this amazingly baffling thread is that OP is BU simply cos I have no clue what this is about and I know this is not in AIBU but I don't care.

tribpot · 07/05/2012 22:32

I think we're still waiting for a decent punchline to the 'two atheists and a Christian walk into a bar' joke.

5318008 · 07/05/2012 22:54

lol and [bemused face] at this thread

BurningBridges · 07/05/2012 23:35

There's no way they had moussaka as that is well difficult to put together, salting aubergines etc. I can see where you're going with pasta, and perhaps a jar of sauce but anything beyond that is pure speculation.

troptriste · 07/05/2012 23:40

OP felt annoyed and embarrassed by loner girl as none of the family and friends liked her and they thought OP had invited her.
OP was cross with original girl as she snubbed her by apparently only wanting to come if loner girl came too and og was seemingly expecting OP and lonergirl to gel but they had nothing in common and og told OPs family and friends OP had invited her

BurningBridges · 07/05/2012 23:46

So I was right then. No moussaka.

troptriste · 07/05/2012 23:51

could have been.and lentils.
OP was livid and didn't enjoy her food with the young companions

Jux · 08/05/2012 00:28

UCM, is that you?

leguminous · 08/05/2012 01:54

Crab moussaka! ten.com.au/the-circle-recipe-seafood-crab-moussaka.htm

If the Christian social worker brought crabs with her loaves, though, I can see the OP being annoyed. Especially if she gave everybody some.
