wHERE i WORKED BEFORE IT was common for colleagues to ask each other home for dinner etc I asked a younger colleague and thought she would refuse being 10 years younger etc she would have more to do,She immediately asked if she could bring a friend but gave no details. This girl came along -also much younger and nothing in common with me -nothing against her but little in common re intersts, background etc HOWEVER she was keen to meet me I asked why she had been broughtt here and the reply was "the Church* but the girl was an atheist.Other family members/friends did not like her. I could not have invited her to my home as I did not know her could I?But the girl said I had been told about her and that is why I invited her Rubbish I was told nothing about her As these 2 were close friend I think the likelehood was she was told about me and the other one wanted to meet me otherwise she would have refused the invite: please adjudicate on this .

Hold on, how many at dinner?
I first thought it was just the three of you as the other people didn't like her then it must have been a bigger congregation, so to speak.

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 10:27

Happy birthday fool.

But OP for the love of god, (so to speak) what DID you have for dinner?

tribpot · 07/05/2012 10:27

Right, so there's an atheist, another atheist and a Christian all having dinner together. There are friends and family of the first atheist either present or who have subsequently commented that they didn't like the second atheist. The friends and family may or may not be atheists, it is unclear.

It has been conjectured that Second Atheist was trying to get off with First Atheist - which I think we can all agree would be a bold move for anyone on someone they'd never met in front of friends and family.

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 10:33

Thanks tribpot, it's a gift you have for explaining.
What did they have for dinner?

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 10:34

Oh and happy birthday Fool!

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 10:38

Two atheists and a Christian walk into a bar...

tribpot · 07/05/2012 10:51

coffee - it was either moussaka or fish. Question. Is there such a thing as seafood moussaka?

storm - remember in your joke, the words "because of the Church" have to feature ...

And fool - happy birthday!

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 10:58

Ok, so, 2 atheists and a Christian walk in to a bar, bar man says, why are you here. Atheist replies, because of the church....

Anyway I think I've figured out what the op is on about....

Groovee · 07/05/2012 10:58

Maybe the christian thought the 1st atheist was looking for a gay relationship and thought she could introduce her atheist gay friend!

caramelwaffle · 07/05/2012 11:00

Happy Birthday fool

storm You have? Shock Share please.

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 11:02

So, they ran out of moussaka because of the semi disininvited guest and then the second Atheist had to have fish because of the church....
or maybe the other way round.
OP, YABU.
you should have cooked enough of each.

tribpot · 07/05/2012 11:06

Two atheists and a Christian walk into a bar. The barman says: the moussaka is off. One of them asks why that is. Barman says: because of the Church.

LimitedAppeal · 07/05/2012 11:06

Where's that pombear emoticon when you need it.

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 11:06

I think it's this.

OP asks the church goer to dinner. (reason for doing so is unknown)

Christian asks friend to come along, and this is the important bit, the 2nd atheist is a bit wayward and needs a good role model.

2nd atheist asks Christian why she too is going and the Christian says because atheist 1 would like to meet you (this is her excuse to get A2 to attend)

A2 wrongly believes A1 is an Christian because of her links with C

At said dinner party (where we think moussaka was served) it becomes clear that C is using A1 as a role model or something for A2.

A1 is pissed with being used and thinks its not a very Christian thing to do.

A1 polishes off the bottle of communion wine that C brought and posted on here.

caramelwaffle · 07/05/2012 11:16

No. No. Atheist 2 is a billy no-mates - not wayward.

Yes? No?

Crikey...

joblot · 07/05/2012 11:17

Ah deep joy

Blatherskite · 07/05/2012 11:18

That does make sense storm :)

you've spoiled it now Sad

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 11:21

The mystery now is why the op thought this would give us a laugh? Confused

Sorry blather

ButteryBiscuitBase · 07/05/2012 11:24

Well that's 10 mins of my lie I'll never see again

I hoped by page 4 things might have become clearer?!

To hide or watch this thread!?

ButteryBiscuitBase · 07/05/2012 11:24

*life

likeatonneofbricks · 07/05/2012 11:26

I think 'get off me' was meant in social sense, as the invited youngster had 'no social life or anything' so that the invired one wanted to offload one atheist on another (as their atheist friend got too clingy but wouldn't convert Grin)!

likeatonneofbricks · 07/05/2012 11:27

I mean 'uninvited youngster' had no social life

Rhinosaurus · 07/05/2012 11:30

Why would an atheist care if something was a Christian thing to do nor not?

My head hurts.

likeatonneofbricks · 07/05/2012 11:38

Rhino - no, she meant that this is proof that the uninvitted girl isn't Christian , even though she falsely pretended to be one as she said she came 'because of the Church' - as in, a christian would NOT come for social networking ('social work' as she puts it) if she was Christian, she'd only come in for sincedre friendship reasons, and obv friendship was out oifthe question Grin.

LadyBeagleEyes · 07/05/2012 11:45

Nah...I've read and re-read the OP about 3 times and I still can't make head or tail of this thread.Confused
