Hello, I'm Mouse Smile and I have a very abusive relationship with alcohol.

I can't just have one glass of anything, I have to drink until I pass out or run out. Whichever comes first.

This Bus is a place of solace and safety, where drinkers, non-drinkers and those who aren't quite sure can come and post or just sit and 'be'.

No-one will judge you, no-one will think any the less of you because we all have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

And for those who want to read the journey's so far and the original thread by JWN, the lady who very bravely started these journeys for us, HERE they are. Smile

(PS - the title is just for you notevenamousie)

name change [hgrin]

MsGee · 15/10/2011 12:16

ma so far I have emptied the dishwasher and eaten chocolate cake. I am now watching corrie (which I haven't watched in years) ad ignoring the toys that are Everywhere.

mouse I have high hopes for the underwear. I'd better look amazing!!

MsGee · 15/10/2011 12:17

Love the name change. Still mulling mine over.

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 12:27

Ma - yes, the open body one does, you were your normal bra or tape [hgrin] and the rest gets tucked in.

I have a spare wheel, never mind a tyre so it helps to smooth all of your waist and hips out.

I am not normally a believer with that sort of thing but this one really does work!

M&S do a similar range. If you order it off Next, you'll get it the next day in the week and can return it really easily. Smile xx

PS - great name change!

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 12:39

NEW THREAD

Same as always, can we fill this up first please so we don't lose or miss any new posters, thanks lovely Babes.

Off shopping, be back later xxxx

venusandallsouls · 15/10/2011 12:46

dd comes home tomorrow [hgrin] [hgrin] [hgrin]

ScareyFairenuff · 15/10/2011 13:01

That's brill venus Smile

Loving all the name changes too.

Well, I went off the diet yesterday and had a little chocolate and some crisps.

BUT I have already lost 9lbs in 25 days so one day won't hurt I guess. Am still on target to lose 30lbs in 90 days so back on it tomorrow.

Today I am going to treat myself to a 'be good to myself day'. I am going to be kind and gentle and restful and enjoy just 'being'. I am going to appreciate all the things I like about myself (will be digging deep) and I am going to pamper myself by resting, reading, relaxing, walking, spending time with my family, baking, pottering, listening to music, eating good nutritious soul food and, as the evening draws in, I will light my candles and have a long soak in a warm bubble bath. In other words, today, I am taking a day off from life, because I'm worth it Grin.

sillysillymum · 15/10/2011 13:29

venus that's great news, must be a huge relief.

scarey congratulations on the weight loss! Any tips? Or just the obvious - eat less! But food is soooo good, especially when you're cutting out the drink. I've lost a couple of pounds in the last week actually which feels great. Although I HAVE to try out that Mars Bar Cake recipe at some point so no doubt I'll put it all back on. But it will be worth it I'm sure!

Instructions It sounds like counselling has been fantastic for you. I love your turn of phrase - "a fucking revelation"! That's what I'll be hoping for. Actually, this thread has been a fucking revelation to me. And another site for people with other problems. I can't believe how much better I feel knowing that other people are going through similar situations, and knowing that you CAN get better. The internet's bloody brilliant isn't it? I don't know anyone in real life (as far as I know...) who has the same issues as me. It's so helpful to know that you're not the only one who has reacted to life in this way. Like you say, the untangling of everything is really enlightening. And necessary I think. For me, anyway. Counselling here we come :)

Have a good day everyone. Today I will not be drinking :)

PS All this talk of norks and undergarments is fascinating. I am currently wearing a bra which is clearly too small for me (4 boobs here, plus a couple at the back actually Blush and one of the wires keeps popping out and scratching me. Jeez I think I need to go shopping!

demonicma · 15/10/2011 16:58

silly that made me laugh - 4 boobs plus a couple at the back. I know that feeling. Have just sorted out the bookcase in the bedroom of death and found all the old picture books the DDs used to love:
Hairy McLary
Owl Babies
Can't you sleep little bear?
When Grandma came
Save Brave Ted
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Percy the Park Keeper
The Star that Fell

and then, years later the ones DS loved:
Room on the Broom
The gruffalo/Gruffalo's child
Tiddler
Tell me something happy
Threadbare

and the fabulous, fabulous "no matter what" by Debbie Gliori.

If you have little ones, or even big ones, you have to get this last book for them. A small grumpy fox asks his mum if she would still love him even if......and she replies she will love him no matter what. Illustrations are fabulous (and funny). At the end he asks "Does love wear out, does it break or bend, can you fix it, stick it, does it mend? and mum replies"Oh help,I;m not that clever, I just know I'll love you for ever and ever". Then he asks about the stars and she says "Still they shine in the evening skies, love like starlight never dies"

hauntmenow · 15/10/2011 17:16

Great name for the new thread mouse!

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 17:25

Thanks hauntme

How are you feeling today?

Ma - that list of books is awesome, if ever you want a new home for them, give me a shout [hsmile]

We've got The Very Hungry Caterpillar - which Nemo loves.

DD used to love Room On The Broom.

I'll look for that last book you recommend. Nemo is a real fan of reading. He even knows the stories so you can't skip anything! [hgrin]

M&S chicken dish for dinner and then melt in the middle choccy puds with double cream.

Balls to the diet this weekend, a tough week calls for a decent menu! And next week is even worse. We are at hospital every day bar Monday with Nemo for various different bits and bobs.

Few, must feed DD [hsmile]

Are we all okay? It's very quiet on here tonight, where are you all Babes? Hoping that you're not struggling.

venus - THAT IS FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!!!!!! xxxxx

demonicma · 15/10/2011 17:37

mouse then it's time to pay it forward. please let us buy that book for nemo. It can be a Christmas present in thanks for the help you gave me earlier in the year. Please let me do this - it would give me enormous pleasure. You will need to pm me your address again. Please say yes.

ScareyFairenuff · 15/10/2011 17:53

I have that book and loved reading it again and again to my dcs. And of course, Guess how much I love you. We also used to like Green Eggs and Ham whenever dcs wouldn't try new food Grin.

Having a really chilled out, peaceful day here. I think we are all tired. One more week til half term, yay!

sillysillymum · 15/10/2011 18:02

No Matter What is the best book in the world ever. Can never read it without having a secret cry. DC must think I'm nuts.

Tonight I will not be drinking. The first Saturday night in years. And it feels good! Smile

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 18:30

Blush Blush Blush Ma that's not why I helped you out, I helped you because I could and you are my friend, not to get anything in return.

But, as it's for Nemo and not me, then yes please, that would be really lovely of you. Thank you, will PM me our address.

Mwah xx

demonicma · 15/10/2011 19:00

mouse I know that. That is why I can make this offer.
probs be better if you pmd me with your address Grin. has it been a long day?????

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 19:17

[hgrin] yes, I see what I did there! Long and tiring day, broken night's sleep vs just getting used to sleep is a bit hard work.

Have sent you Nemo's address [hsmile]

notevenamOoOooOoooosie · 15/10/2011 19:29

I got a decent length walk out of my DD!! We've had a lovely sunny blowy day. I am sniffly and sneezy and very tired and I still don't know the songs that well for tomorrow morning. What's the earliest one can start playing acoustic guitar in a terraced house I wonder?
silly well done, name change needed I think
Hope everyone else's day has gone ok.

On the subject of books, we're going to hear the Bog Baby author Jeanne Willis read at half term (the book always makes me cry) - can't wait :)

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 20:03

Hey noteven - acoustic guitar is much quieter that electric which is what DD was learning at school. I say was because it got to the point where her teacher was freaking her out with his long finger nails on just the one hand! [hgrin]

She was really good thought so I was a bit sad that she quit TBH..... she could play Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit! [hgrin]

Anyway, best get myself up to DD's room to watch shite X Factor with her, it's our thing. Now that Glee has buggered off to Sky1. [hsmile]

Hope everyone is okay?

IsinDe, Obrigada, Luci how are you?

Where are our lost babes? Sad

If you're out there lurking, come say hi.......... [hsmile]

MelodyPond · 15/10/2011 20:26

I'm here. I'm drinking Sad but didn't drink last night as I had planned. Did drink Thursday as not planned.....

spookyghoulie · 15/10/2011 20:34

Hi mouse, here and drinking after 4 days sober a record for me Wink. Still lurking.....

spookyghoulie · 15/10/2011 20:42

hi melody im sure well get there.

Mwahahahahahahahouseface · 15/10/2011 20:49

Hey you two.

You know what? Any sober day is a bloody great day so well done to you both.

It's easier to drink than not for me. I had a whole glass last night but it was never going be a green light for me to start drinking yesterday. I got to 22 days or was it 23? Anyway, I'm going to continue. If I start again, I'll feel much less positive.

So, today is day 23. One glass is NOT going to wipe out my hard work, no siree!

Shattered after a day of doing lots and catching up with admin, shopping etc.

Off to bed soon.

Keep going Babes xx

EEEEKinthebeeswax · 15/10/2011 20:56

GOOD evening to all!
I been doing some weeding in garden today, front and back, it all looks very neat and tidy. It kept me out of trouble, anyway!
DS been very well behaved all day, so am quite relaxed.
Keep up your hard work ladies, I wish I had time to chat with you all more often, but am busy as hell with partners business at moment.
I am still worried about cousin, but if anything her example is one hell of a deterrent for me.

MelodyPond · 15/10/2011 21:07

Hi Spooky, yes we will :)

Mouse, you're right I've done very well this week. I am really proud. And I'm not going mad xxx
