At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinkin' I could never live without him by my side;
But then I spent so many nights
Thinkin' how you did me wrong
And I grew strong

This thread is for ex dumplings. Any dumpling that feels like she has "mostly" moved past crisis into an "almost" sorted state can post and chat here as we continue our quest for serenity with a lot of laughs along the way and support Grin

Well 3rd date turned out to be a blast today Hmm. Plumber was a no show Shock. I was left a bit dumbfounded as last text I'd got from him last night was how much he was looking forward to it Hmm. Anyway he'd a family communion y'day & turns out he got ratarsed drunk & went to bed worse for wear at 11am today & didn't arise until this aft. I ignored his first few calls & text I was so bloody annoyed. Anyway eventually answered & got the above explanation mixed with pleas for another chance etc. On paper I'd say it would be mental to give anyone who did this another chance but decided to hell with it & have agreed to see him again. The reason for this is that while I don't know him v well I do think that doing something like this is prob completely out of character for him. He doesn't normally drink much so I'm not overly concerned about that part, also I know when he text me last night he told me he was leaving his phone in the van, it's his work number & I know he usually ditches his phone when he doesn't need it for work. Anyway perhaps I'm insane but I've told him I'll let this one pass but anything else & he's out on his arse. The only reason I'm giving him another chance really is that he does seem really nice, genuine & serious. My bs radar will be on high alert for awhile though Hmm. Have agreed to meet him tomorrow night, he might be waiting awhile though Grin

Tea, sorry to hear you're so exhausted but think Goo may be right about post viral exhaustion. I think as a lone parent it can be v hard when you're sick because you get no respite & I think it can take longer to recover when we get sick. That's been my experience anyway ((Hugs))

Goo, glad you took a break from all the hard work.

Patience, glad you're managing to hold on to your sense of humour in the face of xh's continued dismal behaviour.

startingovernow · 30/05/2011 00:00

Oh that reminds me I ended up in xh's house this evening which was a bit strange. I was meant to be picking the dc's up there but I kept ringing xh's mobile & no answer. Eventually I went & knocked on door. Xh was shaving in the bathroom & hadn't heard phone Hmm. He told me to come in for a min as car seats were still in his car. I said grand but get out of the bathroom as I've been waiting here 15mins & am bursting for a pee Grin. He showed me around the house & showed me spare room where dc's would be staying if they ever do an overnight so actually it was nice & comforting to be able to look around. Will try to sit down with xh for a coffee though to talk things through before doing any overnights.

Well had a lovely night out with Plumber boy who's now been renamed Stripey by Patience Grin. He greeted me with flowers & loads more apologies. Had a lovely meal out & then went for a walk on the harbour where we had our first kiss.....Ahhhhh Smile.

startingovernow · 31/05/2011 01:00

Yes Patience was thinking a plunger might dislodge it & bring it back up. I keep plunger on hand for similar incidents with dc's Hmm. Yes Stripey was a lovely kisser & he seems lovely. Even though he's only 38 he's kind of old school in a gentlemanly type of way Smile. Have to confess that I find the whole notion of men who are good at doing things with their hands incredibly sexy & I'm not just talking about in the bedroom Grin. I might even get him to take a look at my radiators yet lol Grin

Patienceobtainsallthings · 31/05/2011 01:08

yep i hear ya ,its the nimble fingers innit !
Did he offer u a demo .
ok going to find the plunger if there is one xxxx

Patienceobtainsallthings · 31/05/2011 01:15

LMFAO ok just found out that using a plunger does not come easy to me ,u must have a very big plunger Startin or a better technique ,for a first attempt i have to report it was pretty poor xxxxxx

startingovernow · 31/05/2011 01:25

Lol Patience push plunger down as far as you can to get a bit of suction & then push rapidly up & down. I do have a fairly big plunger though lol.

As for nimble fingers I'll have to report back on that one lol Grin

Patienceobtainsallthings · 31/05/2011 10:36

Just read this message starting so away for another attempt
Just not getting any suction sounds like my plunger isn't really up to the job x
Going to try aloe vera on my face.

Patienceobtainsallthings · 31/05/2011 11:00

Ok phoned the doctor ,had enough lol x

Patienceobtainsallthings · 31/05/2011 13:22

Starting ,u should have seen the size of the plumbers plunger .....massive!
Anyway toilet fixed ,but no sign of the lid ,oops xxxxxx

googoomama · 31/05/2011 23:09

my bog used to block all the time - I was an expert with a plunger and/or my hand (in a glove of course!). got to the point the boys wouldn't flush the thing because the water would always rise and rise and...tip over the edge. urggh!
hope your skin's sorted Patience - just got intermittent acne here x
well, oldest one went on play date today - he was very excited. came home saying he was ill. turns out he's got a horrible infection in his foreskin and his poor little willy is really red, swollen and sore. had to take him to casualty. when doc was looking at it, youngest one had to hide his face in his hands, then he stood at the side with his hands cupped over his willy, like in a footy game and announced to the doc"I'm healthy though, I AM!" Quite amusing. Poor older one though. Now got canesten cream, banana medicine and he's on anit-hystemines for hayfever. all in all, holiday going swimmingly (as usual in our hoose)
Hope everyone is ok. Love to all
Romney - you look like Uma Thurman. Just realised who you reminded me of. Great cheekbones love x

Patienceobtainsallthings · 31/05/2011 23:37

Wee love googs hope it all works out meds and cream x

romneymarsh · 01/06/2011 01:15

Hope all is well with everyone, I do lurk daily just haven't anything to add.

Starting stripey is sounding like good fun.

ET your tattooed builder sounds interesting, think we need to know more.

Googoo - thanks for the compliment, I have been told that quiet a few times recently, must admit it does boost my very low self esteem a bit, so thanks, it made me smile.

Hi to you too Patience and everyone else.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 01/06/2011 07:14

Hi all, I'm a bit like Rom. Lurking and lovely to read thread but just getting on with life really and not much to add.

Lovely that XH is long gone altho have heard a rumour that he may visit in a few weeks. Last time was disastrous so not looking forward to that! Don't have the strength to see a traumatized child and the previously ' not working' BE throwing the money about.

Lovely to see all of the dating news. Can't see much like that on the horizon here and still not too fussed tbh.

You'll be pleased to hear that I did make some progress on the divorce yesterday...

OP posts:
Patienceobtainsallthings · 01/06/2011 09:56

Fab happy re. Divorce
My X won't give me his address so all mail was via his parents and he says he hasn't had any letters x

Mumfun · 01/06/2011 17:35

Hello still lurking here too

Little to add here either.

Happy relaxing holiday as we are on half term.

Like the sound of Stripey, Starting.

Goo -poor DS and hope he is all better soon.

Have now formally promised the DCs a cat - I think it will be lovely.

Getting my summer sorted out a bit - 2 lovely friends have invited us to stay so will do that and maybe another trip. After a lovely half term really looking forward to the summer!

america · 02/06/2011 07:05

I have no time to chat during the week as after work DC take all my energy and time. I finally managed to go thru the last couple of pages on this thread and can relate to most of the stuff.

I too get really frustrated with DD, yell at them and then feel guilty. Now they have started saying sorrysorrysorrysorry as soon as they see my bloodpressure going up. It makes me feel the worst parent ever.

I don't get out in the evenings very often, but where I used to be sociable and chatty, I too now find myself in a corner watching the others. Sad.

In terms of my house, well, my life has been such as mess for awhile now that I try to control the little I can by manically cleaning the house. It's horrible, I literally cannot sit still, I have to do something all the time to avoid thinking about my miserable life. Otherwise I end up so depressed and crying. As a result I have de-cluttered and organised my cupboards and now sadly running out of things to do. It scares me as I guess I should start dealing with the emotional mess I am in. I tried counselling but didn't really like the counsellor. I also find the idea of AD scary.

So happy for all of you who are dating. Hope that you are already better TEA?

Patienceobtainsallthings · 02/06/2011 10:13

Big hugs america and if u ever want to just chat on here at night we r usually around ,its all normal the keeping busy bit ,I would just steer urself to some self indulgent nourishment ,serious pamper sessions .nails ,feet hair dvds chocolate whatever is good for u.Just keep working on the whole self love bit.make urself ur new best friend.
