The One Before

And All Others Before That

So, this is The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

All are welcome, regardless of your background, stage of sobriety, or anything else. Smile

I'm Mouse and have been here since June 2010, and in control of my drinking since August 2nd 2010.

You will find unconditional support here. Always.

Whatever you feel about drinking (or not), we've been in your shoes. Some more than once.

So, come say hi, come grab a seat. There is always an open door and a warm welcome on this Bus.

to be fair ruby, it depends a bit on how often you have done this type of thing?, how often has he been left looking after the kids because you are hungover?, is he moody because he is fed up with your behaviour?, have you humiliated him in front of other people?

im really not being harsh, just trying to look at both sides - of course, if you're drinking because he is moody and unreasonable then thats another thing!

mouse says apologise - i have to say, my dh became sick to the back teeth of my 'apologies' because he knew i would doing the exact same thing again in a couple of days!

regardless - look after yourself today, you are down, depressed and vulnerable, it will pass as the hangover receeds! poor old you!! [[hug]]

Mouseface · 26/03/2011 11:58

Grin JWN - you're right. If this is the 100th time Ruby, I doubt he wants to here your apology.

I didn't think of it like that. I hope you're okay though. xx

thanks for the wise words, I don't do it very often but you're right he is sick of me feeling rough. I had already apologised to him. He later apologised to me for being mean so that bit is sorted.

On a general basis, he's far more grumpy than me and it gets on my nerves quite frankly. I was thinking about this last night whilst drinking and decided to be horrible to him

Bugger. That's so bad isn't it?
I drank loads of wine having eaten only a salad all day. I'm so stupid doh!

maddogsandenglishmen · 26/03/2011 14:44

Ruby Hope you're feeling a bit less rough now. Today is a new day. Put yesterday behind you and decide not to drink today.

I'm just checking in quickly before going to pick up dd from a birthday party. I'm really struggling with the thought that dh is out tonight and why not have a beer. I'm not going to but need you lot to keep me accountable. I Will Not buy beer when I am out, going to buy a new DVD for dd and myself to watch.

dementedma · 26/03/2011 15:25

3 frickin loads of washing done and STILL a pile of it on the floor waiting to go in. Where the bloody hell does it all come from?
Just spent a vast fortune on restocking the cupboards and freezer and paying bills. Got paid Thursday and its nearly all bloody gone Sad
Ruby hope you feel better by now
Thurso germ warfare defeats heat seeking missile every time Grin
When are you coming to Scotland?
mousie hi, how's things in the mousehole?

venusandmars · 26/03/2011 16:04

We put 2nd load of washing in and went out to buy moth killer. Came home to find that w/m had blown main fuse in the house Shock. Now my favourite clothes are stuck in the w/m. Dp is hopeless - completely and utterly hopeless - at things like that, so I've retreated to my office and I am looking up the contact for the plumber / electrician.

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 26/03/2011 17:38

Evening Babes,

Very busy day here, but a good one. I sort of took things into my own hands today, told DH I had loads of college work to do (sorry Ruby me too Smile ), then suggested a walk by the sea this afternoon, and had dinner planned, so DH gone off to squash very happy.

I have miraculously planned my presentation for next week! First time I have ever, ever done one to a grown up group I don't know, and am really, really scared. I say miraculous, because I have been procrastinating for the last two weeks thinking and not getting anything done.

However......because I decided what I had to do, things seemed to work better, don't know why...perhaps I should try it again?

Maddogs I imagine I can be on here tonight, as DH will probably conk out at about 8 pm!

Venus Have you got the washing machine sorted?

Ma I have got dates, just need to sort out flights, etc. Will pm you. I hope you feel better, or do I not Grin, have you got a spare room to retire to because of illness Grin.
P.s got any tips for me losing two stone and 10 years in the next couple of weeks, so that I don't scare you!

Is there a mouse in the house?

bafanatheSober · 26/03/2011 18:12

Evening all
Just quickly checking in

Manically busy, but coping - back still very sore Sad

Hope ur all well

dementedma · 26/03/2011 18:19

thurso no spare room here. But DH is on a sleepover unusually for a Saturday so was looking forward to a Sundaymorning lie in without being prodded by some part of his anatomy or other, but now have to drive to Edinburgh at Sparrowfart to pick up wandering niece who is apparently coming to stay. Would have been nice to have been told!! Got to be on the road at 8am, which will actually be 7am with the clocks going forward - buggeration!
If I had tips how to lose two stone and 10 years, do you think I would look like this? Grin
have just wolfed a bag of peanut M&Ms which DS bought me as a treat - bless his little heart.
Wherever we agree to meet, I will lurk furtively outside and if a load of glamorous pissheads sober people go in, i shall be too scared to join you!
sexy or what?

Mouseface · 26/03/2011 19:20

Evening, just popping in to say hello Smile

Had a very bust day with DD shopping, opticians and now cooking a slap up steak dinner.

Will be back tomorrow but in short, other than being in pain, all if fab in the Mousehole, erm na, sounds rude to me!

All is fab in the Mouse House Grin

Be good. xx

Hope you've had fab days.

Lots of love x

venusandmars · 26/03/2011 20:06

Hi thurso let me know when you're coming...... please...

Although if you and dementedma both lose 2 stones and 10 years, then I'll be the only little short dumpy wrinkled one Sad

Ah well no hope for me, I'll return to the kitchen for another portion of brad and butter pudding made with hot cross buns and marmalade - mmmmm

Silver66 · 26/03/2011 23:55

dementedma · 27/03/2011 07:58

morning. up far too bloody early to take sis to Edinburgh and collect wandering niece. After a night of coughing, I need this like a fecking hole in the head

venusandmars · 27/03/2011 08:18

Tis a lovely sunny morning though! You could getr yourself something nice to read, and return mid-morning, sit on the sofa wrapped in a blanket and doze and read.

Rubyredlips · 27/03/2011 10:08

Morning all. Just off to the park with DC's for some fresh air. DH is going to do the ironing.
See you later

maddogsandenglishmen · 27/03/2011 10:52

Just wanted to say to everyone that this thread was 100% the reason I didn't drink last night. Had a wonderful evening with DD watching Toy Story and eating pizza. I am so glad I didn't drink and want to say a huge THANK YOU to you all.

Off now with the DCs to the studio to watch DH do his thing! I've never actually been in a recording studio before, so it's quite exciting, despite my annoyance at the cost!

Mouseface · 27/03/2011 11:42

Clearly I meant busy day with DD, not bust Grin

Morning Babes.

Well done maddogs Smile hope this morning goes well with DH.

Ma - hope you find your neice.

Busy day of houeswork here.

Be back later xxxx

jesuswhatnext · 27/03/2011 12:22

morning!!

good on you maddogs!, have a lovley day!

really busy here, i need to get the house nice and straight ready for the week - im so busy at work that im kind of refusing to do more than the bare minimum during the week.

got a nice big piece of beef for dinner, some gardening to do and then sort my nails out while watching antiques roadshow, - just my kind of sunday! Grin
i have just finished starkys 'henry V111' - blimey, it was hard going, i much prefer social history to political but once i start a book i do like to finish it, something i lost the ability to do when i was drinking, next on the list is 'grandes horizontales' by virginia rounding, a superb writer, particuarly of womens historical figures - i love being able to look forward to picking up a book and knowing that i have the capacity to read it again, i hadnt realised just how much i missed reading until i had a few months of sobriety under my belt! i even know that once i have finished this next book that i will be reading greers 'shakespeares wife' - i went to a lecture she gave about the book AGES ago, wanted to read it but unfortuantly i got a bit pissed and forgot i had it! Blush

anyway, enough of my literary musings! Grin, must get on and bleach the bogs! Grin

see you later babes!

venusandmars · 27/03/2011 12:39
