I found some porn in my bathroom

Stupiditysquared · 19/02/2011 12:58

.. and asked the DCs if they'd downloaded it.

This was a pretty stupid thing to do. Nuclear war has erupted. The trouble was that in 18 years of marriage, DH has never used porn (so far as I am aware). He never normally goes into that bathroom, whereas the DCs do. Also I did not know that he'd been at home. It never occurred to me that it was him.

Now DD is screaming at her father that he is a filthy pervert. He's screaming at me for being stupid, which in fairness it was. And I'm in shock really.

What next

Mal

The PM displays whatever name said poster is using at that time.

If I got a PM from a poster or even you saying it was really XYZ, I'd open new PM back to said XYZ poster, asking them a question.

Does that make any sense?

That way, if it was them, they could confirm.

I'd also tell you/poster I was PMing XYZ to see what reaction I got.

Mouseface · 21/02/2011 14:10

Why not do what I suggested then? Smile

Peter, I think you're batman

Anyway, what a thread. Rather, er, heated. FWIW, I found myself nodding along with Chipping the most, so she wins

BitOfFun · 21/02/2011 14:13

Yes Mal, I can see your point- the last thing the OP needs is loads of people speculating over her identity when she came her for support. I shall squash my nosiness and hope that she manages to sort this whole sorry mess out without further unpleasantness from here.

PeterAndreForPM · 21/02/2011 14:14

mal, maybe the poster who started this thread just tweaked the ages of her children, to cut down on her recognisability ?

If I was posting something as sensiive as this, even under a namechange, I would change one or two of the details

PeterAndreForPM · 21/02/2011 14:15

chickens, I am batman's sidekick Grin

Malificence · 21/02/2011 14:18

I'm going to report myself I think, the poster in question has posted a lot recently and so it's not really feasible that someone would have nicked her name to use on a whim.

I do now realise that some folks change little details about their real lives in order to not be so recognisable.

PeterAndreForPM · 21/02/2011 14:18

good plan, mal

Mouseface · 21/02/2011 14:29

You'd hope not Mal

BTW - Freeview is back Grin

Random threadkilling post

squeakytoy · 21/02/2011 15:12

if you namechange, but send a PM, and you have already had previous PM exchanges with that person, your original user name will show on the messages...

if you have not exchanged a PM with them before, it will come up as your current name

medicalmayhem · 21/02/2011 15:15

God this post is getting boring i think we all said what was needed by about page 20, the OP is probably regretting posting anything now.

BitOfFun · 21/02/2011 15:23

No- if you reply to a pm message, it goes to the name you used during that exchange. You can pm people in a new name by starting a new exchange.

Mouseface · 21/02/2011 15:28

Isn't that what I said BOF?

I'm getting too confused.

Let me try it with you BOF?

PMing that is Grin
