Hello Smile

I'm Mouse. I've been sober for over a month now, thanks to the support of posters on this and previous threads.

No matter where you are up to with your sobriety, you'll find someone here who has been in your shoes!

Come and meet the other Brave Babes........

Getting we have lost track of which week is the bottle recycling one because before if the box was full it was not yet time, when the box was overflowing, that was the time. AND I'd hidden lots of empties too Blush

munkymaz · 13/09/2010 20:44

getting that is a good feeling, I was well proud last week when our bin was less than 1/4 full instead of less than at least half full with wine bottles!

CJ it is fab to hear from you.....from a 'been there, done that' stance and to be able to see a point in the future at which I hope I can get too. I would love to be able to go out and say no to alcohol and enjoy the evening for what it is (and not for what it isn't!). Please keep posting Smile

evening all!! had a good day here, went to aa, got quite a boost from it today, i hadnt realised how much i needed one!

our recycling bag is also empty!, i used to have to empty it every other week, its now about 6 weekly! Shock

at aa today a guy was talking about how much he didnt like drinking anymore, i really got what he was saying - i really have no desire to drink, as i was dishing up teh dinner last night dh poured himself a glass of red, my poison, i got a waft of it under my nose, do you what?, i can honestly say that i found the smell revolting - i was so surprised, i had always liked the bouquet, the nose, whatever you like to call it, it was a bit of a 'moment' for me, ive been thinking about it all day really, im hoping that it is a sign of things to come, that i will get to a point where it is not on my mind all the time, that asking for a N&T comes as easily as asking for a large house red used to be.

well babes, am off to bed, im really cold and the duvet is calling! see you all in the morning!!

Mouseface · 13/09/2010 21:10

Off here too.

Sleep well Brave Babes!! xx

Lucilastic · 13/09/2010 22:02

Night mouse and everyone else. No drinking tonight. Feel exhausted as I always do the day after a binge.

Time to flop into bed and give my brain a break from thinking/worrying/regreting.

Sleep well brave babes.

venusandmars · 13/09/2010 22:33

Sleep well and safe all you lovely people.

gettingeasier · 14/09/2010 07:05

Morning everyone.

Hope you feel a bit better Lucil after a day off the alcohol , try and be a bit gentle on yourself constant self recrimination is just going to make you turn to the bottle not make you feel guilty so you stop.

Well I woke up and the first thing I thought about was recycling box Grinand how it isnt overflowing, how I havent had to make any supplementary trips to supermarket recycling. I think its so signififcant because 95% of my drinking was done at home so the evidence was always there. Every morning putting in the empties I would have some negative emotion about my drinking and now something different is happening. I think its just amazing that I am actually doing something I said to myself I was going to do .

Now to apply that to other areas of my life.

Got estate agents coming today to value the house which I have to sell . On one hand this is sad because its been our family home we put a lot into and on the other a fresh start will be good. Either way a drink would normally be required to commiserate or celebrate.

However I am not going to drink today.

Have a good day everyone Grin

Morning Brave Babes,

Lots of positive posts here, its so lovely to see. Lucil, hope you are feeling better today and that you slept well.

getting - hope the estate agents are helpful! I'm sure you will but do ask them how they will market the house and who shows people round etc. I have been disappointed with our estate agents and wish I had shopped around a bit more. However, alls well that ends well etc.

SAF well done on doing 8 days!! Fantastic! One day is the same of all of our goals on here - we all take it one day at a time.

Red, Mouse, JWN, Munky, MIFLAW, Double, lightbulb CJ, getting #2 (sorry, didn't want to put wrinkly!)and everyone else - have a great day.

All good here in the Gee household. DD up from 4-5 this morning shouting for dummy and then hiding it when we pointed out she was holding it Smile. I am such a softy I ended up singing lullaby countless times to her - albeit inbetween the hour of screaming. I bet our neighbours have a party when we leave!

Today I am going to work hard (or efficiently!), pick out some colour schemes for new house and most importantly...

TODAY WE WILL NOT BE DRINKING.

Mouseface · 14/09/2010 09:08

Morning Brave Babes.

Great post getting and glad to see that you are managing to not drink during the week SAF.

I have been up most of the night, 1-5.30am, with Nemo the owl.

Gah.

Good morning Babes!

How is everyone doing today? I am well but I am going to be really busy as it's my last day in work for a few days and my colleague is off sick. Argh!

Will keep trying to pop in and out!

RedMoomin · 14/09/2010 09:21

Hello mouse, you poor thing. You must be exhausted!

RedMoomin · 14/09/2010 09:22

Hello MsGee too! (Don't want you to tell me off either!)

MsGee · 14/09/2010 10:04

Hi Mouse, that is a very rough night, I really feel for you. How is Nemo today? How are you? Will you get a chance to nap later?

Hey Red Grin. How is the hard work going? I am losing internet connection every few minutes so my intentions for effective working are already falling by the wayside.

Mouseface · 14/09/2010 10:09

Hey Red and MsGee, here, have a Mouse hug each (((( )))) (((( )))).

I can't nap, makes me feel sick. I know, I'm odd. I have to be super ill or beyond tired to pass out in the day.

TBH I'm just floating through the day at the mo. I will however set up a new thread and links once I get the green light from our leader, aka JWN. Grin

Any suggestions for a title?

OP posts:
RedMoomin · 14/09/2010 10:13

I have no idea! I am totally stumped. We need one of the creative types to come up with something... wasindie? venus? Any ideas?!

jesuswhatnext · 14/09/2010 10:20

hello, tis your leader calling! Grin

lovley to see positive posts, i always get a real morning boost from reading them! (thats not to say everyone has to be positive all the time, life aint like that!)

mouse, sounds like you need a bit of hibernation time!, you poor little love, hope nemo is having a better day, btw, how is medium-mouse enjoying school?

hmm, thoughts on a new title - how about something along the lines of

brave babes carry on the charabanc trip?

suits my babs winsdor persona! Grin

better ideas are more than welcome!

Mouseface · 14/09/2010 10:26

WARNING - THICK ALERT......

JWN - What is the charabanc trip? Confused

Nemo is tired! Shocker! Grin

MediumMouse is ok, we've had a few wobbles and tears so far this week and it's only Tuesday! Her hormentals are kicking in too. Poor girl.

Boys are an issue, girls are an issue. her body is an issue etc etc. I wish I could just wave a magic wand so she could skip these next few years!!

OP posts:
MsGee · 14/09/2010 10:36

Mouseface - I am glad you asked, I just had to google charabanc - its a horse drawn vehicle or early motor car!

It sounds like the Mouse House (Hutch?) is going through it this week. I really feel for you all. I hated being a teenager, its so horrible - sympathies to MediumMouse. I remember that all I wanted was someone to tell me it would be ok but if they did, I'd rant that it wasn't ok NOW. I remember sticking a quote on the fridge for my mum - something along the lines of that it may be a phase but it doesn't really matter because I'm living through it now and its bloody hard.

Just remember that you are a strong woman and the way you are taking on the world is an excellent role model for DD.

Which reminds me - any luck on the grant re heating?

jesuswhatnext · 14/09/2010 10:37

mouse - i really feel for medium-mouse, my dd went through all that stuff, at one time 'everyone hated her', she was 'the most ugly person on earth' Sad, i just did my best to boost her confidence and thankfully she now has just minor worries like which fella to go with, which dress to wear etc! Grin

right, now to deal with the fact you are a right thicky! Grin

a charabanc is an old bus which took poor people on trips to the seaside, there was lots of laughter, kissing, singing and jolly-japes!Grin and everyone took a packed lunch and then had fish and chips for tea before coming home (there was also a crate of light ale but we can leave that at the bus station!)

MIFLAW · 14/09/2010 10:43

Charabanc comes from the French "char a bancs" - literally, a cart with benches.

So, as others have rightly said, a coach, especially as used on "beanos".

I went to the Varsity, you know.

Mouseface · 14/09/2010 10:48

Thanks MsGee, you are uber lovely. xx

JWN - I am trying to make her feel good. Tis hard when she is so low and I'm struggling too.

MIFLAW - I might have known you'd appear! You smarty pants you! Nobody likes a show off. Wink

So, is that the title you want JWN? Do you want the word 'booze' in it anywhere? Just so newbies know what we are about?

OP posts:
Mouseface · 14/09/2010 10:50

MsGee - re the heating grant, I'm chasing it again today. We have £3,500 awarded to us. I'm hoping that the nice lady I spoke too can help get it moving sooner than 6 months from now.

OP posts:
RedMoomin · 14/09/2010 11:00

brave babes carry on the charabanc trip - leaving the booze behind!

Something along those lines?

Got to dash off again! Argh! (So rude that I am expected to work when I am at work!!)
