Hello Smile

I'm Mouse. I've been sober for over a month now, thanks to the support of posters on this and previous threads.

No matter where you are up to with your sobriety, you'll find someone here who has been in your shoes!

Come and meet the other Brave Babes........

And here are the other threads for those who want to read them.

Another one here for drinking copiously while on ADs. Nutter.

desiretochange · 08/09/2010 14:22

Afternoon everyone, been lurking for last few days but haven't posted. After reading through last nights and today I made an appointment for doctor tomorrow morning because I have finally realised that I am majorly depressed.

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 14:25

Hello desire, nice to see you about! That's brilliant news re going to see the doctor. Just by taking this step you will start to feel that you are regaining some control in your life, being proactive. Let us know how you get on.

Mouseface · 08/09/2010 14:26

desire

Well done. xx

Very quiet on here this afternoon... are some people actually doing work?!? Or do some people just have better things to do in general Envy!! (By work I mean anything other than messing about!)

MsGee · 08/09/2010 14:53

Red, I was working but now I am back... How is your day going?

Mouse, how're you? heard from DD? How was Nemo's appt?

desire, well done on the appointment - is good to get control. If you feel that you are going to back out during the appointment (I do it all the time), perhaps write a note to the doctor saying everything you want to say? Might at least prompt you to remember to talk about everything you need to?

desiretochange · 08/09/2010 14:57

Thanks Mouse and Red
That is so strange MsGee, was thinking the same thing myself. I know that when I sit in front of the doctor I will minimise how I am feeling or even back out and say I am worried about my blood pressure or smoking or whatever and have been wondering whether I should write it all down and give it to her in the form of a letter.

MissPerrier · 08/09/2010 15:00

Hi babes!!! I have not been posting much lately! Did premenstrual gardening at weekend, still can,t walk properly Grin. One reluctant teenager dispatched back to school this week, house looks like the apocalypse! Have not had a drink for 7 weeks (sorry still need to count). I am catching up on posts. Thank you ALL you keep me strong, even when you don't know you are xxx

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 15:00

My day is fine thanks. Was really hyper and really busy earlier on so I now feel a bit flat. Boo! But all in all it has been a good day. (It will be even better when it's home time although I miss all the Babes when I am not at my desk and I have to read like crazy the next day to catch up. And then sometimes I am in such a rush I miss things Blush!!)

How's your day going MsGee?

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 15:01

MissP - well done on 7 weeks! Fantastic!

Mouseface · 08/09/2010 15:03

desire

I took a note yesterday and gave it to the doctor just before I left and asked him if I'd missed anything! Grin

MsGee - not heard from DD but the chances are that she didn't get her phone out of her bag for fear of getting into trouble at school.

Nemo passed with flying colours today. So much so, that his nurse agrees that I'm correct in thinking any hospital tests would just put him back currently.

So I've phoned the consultant and told him, he's happy too!!

BUT!!!!!! The feckers at Warm Front, dealing with a grant we have to repair our shite heating system, have fucked up and now we have been pushed back by at least 6 months. Angry

Which means ANOTHER winter without heat in our bedroom, the icelandic hall, damaged radiators and a crappy old boiler.

I may have shouted a tiny bit. Wink

Hello MissP Smile

Great news re the sobriety!!!!!

ChristianaTheSeventh · 08/09/2010 15:08

Hello

Sorry not to have been around much. I've failed again. Starting over.

Also, I am currently in bed with grimmest of D&V bugs. Feel absolutely hideous. I am going to read through all the posts I've missed.

You're all doing so well I'm a bit Envy.

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 15:13

I hope that you did some more mouse roaring!

jesuswhatnext · 08/09/2010 15:16

hi everyone!

nice to hear from you missp!, you sound very upbeat Grin

busy day here, so i cant stay long! - just wanted to say that it almost seems to be a running theme that we have suffered some form of depression - makes you wonder what came first - the drinking or the illness - another thing that strikes me is that we all appear to be fairly 'extreme' characters, just a thought to ponder!

lovley to hear about tiny-mouse, i suppose medium-mouse will be home soon?, get the biscuit tin ready! Grin

christi - poor old you, you sound grim, keep cosy in bed!

jesuswhatnext · 08/09/2010 15:17

hello moomin! havent spoken to you in days!! Blush how you doing hunny-bunch?

MsGee · 08/09/2010 15:19

Red my day is going ok, it could have been more productive, but I shall not dwell on that. I have got three loads of washing done even if billable hours are down! We miss you too at night, I got to read the posts quicky at 5pm last night and was sad that I'd missed you, even to say goodbye!

desire good idea but walk in with the letter in your hand or you might not hand it over! I like Mouse's plan of giving it at the end, shows that you are also taking control to the doc!

MissP 7 weeks - that is incredible!! Well done.

Mouse yay to Nemo, give him a big hug from me and LittleMs! Great news on the hospital tests too, that must be such a load off your mind. GRR to Warm Front, no wonder you shouted (just a little). Can you threaten to go to your MP? I know when I worked at DLA they have a special section for MP's cases that they rush along. Can you get something from Health Visitor saying its not going to be good for Nemo and it needs to be done now?

MsGee · 08/09/2010 15:21

eek x post again, stoopid tinternet.

Christi, hope you feel better soon

JWN - when will you hear about the contract? agree re extreme characters. think that there was a discussion at one point about extroverts etc - I once did a personality test and scored as both an extreme extrovert and extreme introvert, equally high on both. So conflicting and extreme here.

jesuswhatnext · 08/09/2010 15:29

msgee - shhhhh! the hong-kongish guy is still here - he is looking at our it systems right now to make sure they measure up to requirements, keep your fingers croessed!

Mouseface · 08/09/2010 15:30

MsGee - trust me when I tell you that this is a Mouse that they do NOT want to be messing with!! I have left a message for Nemo's nurse to call me so I can explain to her and she can do a letter to back mine up to the MDs of eaga plc and Warm Front.

AND....... DD has just text to say she is on her way home, she's so sorry and that the bus was late so she just ran to class this morning in a panic. Bless her!!

JWN - no footwear today? Grin

Christi - sorry you are fed up.

OP posts:
desiretochange · 08/09/2010 15:30

Only problem with writing it all out is that she may decide I am completely mad or have me admitted to be dried out !!

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 15:33

christi - feel better soon. I am on Day 5 so not that far ahead of you. And remember we all stay sober just one day at a time.

Hello JWN

Totally agree with the depression and drinking thing:
Do I drink because I am depressed or am I depressed because I drink??

I could drive myself mad with that. It's the whole chicken-egg thing. However, for me, it doesn't matter what lead to what. I am a drunk - and I will remain so even if I sort my depression. (Only speaking for myself of course.)

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 15:34

desire - I was dragged to the doctor by my mum when I was pissed out of my head Blush all highly embarrassing but even I was not marched out to the Priory (or whatever!) at once. Your doctor will be pleased that you are facing up to any problems.

Mouseface · 08/09/2010 15:37

desire

If I'd shown you my list, you would've had me sectioned!! Grin

You have to remember that doctors have seen far worse than you! And I mean that in a non patronising way.

Just go and be honest. I looked at the clock rather than into the docs eyes! That way, it was like I was thinking out loud. Grin

RedMoomin · 08/09/2010 15:39

Bloody hell - it's gone mental since I accused you all of having lives!
