10 weeks ago i started a thread asking for help - i was in a very desperate place, totally dependent on alchohol, unhappy, lonely and floundering around trying to make sense of it all. i was in danger of losing everything i hold dear.

in those few short weeks, i have got my life back and picked up a few computer friends along the way - we help each other, support each other, and laugh and cry together - if you would like to join us, please feel free - no judging, preaching, sermonising or moralising - we are simply ordinary people with a bloody awful illness!

Trinity

Great news- keep it up!

Make sure you get to at least one meeting a week - it's so easy to get out of the loop and start thinking you are normal!

Morning - dd2 is an early bird today, she's been up for half an hour. So thankful I'm not hungover, instead I'm kind of enjoying being up so early, everything is quiet and peaceful. A bit like this thread last night. Seems everyone had a good night :)

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 05:57

Can I join you?

DD is up now too. sadly, I've drunk the rest of last night's wine.

Today is my day 1 of a new life.

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 05:59

Morning lastone :)

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 06:00

thankyou.

Smile
ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:00

Morning last one, morning to clear

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 06:00

morning to you too.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:01

So lastone is it one DD you have? Or more?

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:02

Hi Christi - are you feeling better today? Sounds like venus helped yesterday

Lastone - is this your first time posting on here - I am a bit rubbish at keeping track of names Blush

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 06:03

3 DDs and 1 DS, Christiana.

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 06:04

Yes, first time poster. have lurked for a while, but feels like the right time to join.

I'm ready for this now.

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:06

How old are your dc's? My ds is (nearly) 12, dd1 is 7 and dd2 is 7 months. I am enjoying looking after them without the hungover feeling every day!

This thread is great for support.

Your name makes me smile as that's how I always think of myself on a night out!

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:10

I might namechange actually as I picked mine because I had that Levellers song pounding through my head (Just the one) and now I don't fancy a drink. Apart from a cup of tea.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:10

Hi, I have two DDs, one is 4yo and starts school in two weeks, the other is 1.

Venus and I are meeting today! She is amazing.

I am so glad you are here lastone.

Toclear, I am feeling pretty bad, I went to bed in tears last night, couldn't eat anything for dinner. Can't talk to DH. Depression quite bad again. And the accompanying insomnia. Up at 2am yesterday, 3am today. Been reading 'Little House on the Prairie' in bed. My DM gave me a box of my old books to sort out and it seemed suitably unthreatening. Night before, Noel Streatfeild's 'White Boots'??!!?

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:14

Christi - sorry you are struggling, but hurray you are meeting venus. Am sure she will help you.

I love old books - is 'white boots' the ice skating one with Harriet in?

My sister kept all our Noel Streatfield ones Angry

ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:18

Oh yes, Harriet and her poor little rich girl friend Lalla...

ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:19

Am thinking of ordering all my old favourites... Little Women, What Katy Did, Anne of Green Gables...

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 06:21

Hi... mine are DD1 14, DD2 13, DS and DD twins, nearly 2.

I've always enjoyed a drink, but in the last year, it's gotten too much... so much so that I don't enjoy it anymore.

I open a bottle of wine, don't finish it, but wake at 3am and drink the rest of it. It's not right.

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:22

Me too! After I wrote that last post I thought why don't I just buy them, with the money I'm saving on wine I could treat myself.

Do you remember one about children on a canal boat who had to push it through tunnels? Can't remember the name...

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:25

lastone - I thought I 'enjoyed' a drink too until MIFLAW set me straight.

What's waking you up at 3am?

ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:27

I don't remember the name but I'm sure it had the word 'diaphanous' in it! Funny what you remember, it was the first time I'd seen that word, and it was describing a woman's white dress at night...

Remember The Greengage Summer by Rumer Godden, had a bit about canals at end.

Lastone you've come to the right place! Have you got wine still in the house? It's easier when you don't have any. Also, have you tried eating carbs before bed to keep you sleeping through the night, something to do with blood sugar (says the insomniac, I'll be taking a sleeping pill tonight...)

lastonestanding · 12/08/2010 06:31

I don't enjoy anything about alcohol anymore.

I have no wine left Blush I don't know what wakes me up at 3am. Kids sleeping through now...

Tonight will be different though.

Toclearmyhead · 12/08/2010 06:35

It's called Thursday's child - just been on Amazon.

Good to have you on board the bus lastone :)

See you later, better make a start on the day!

ChristianaTheSeventh · 12/08/2010 06:36

It's good to have no wine. It might be something to do with blood sugar as wine has a lot of sugar in it. If you wake up, maybe have some herb tea and digestives, you'll need something.
