Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think people frequently miss their own weddings because of a morning quickie while in a plaster cast, or other unusual views.

Spoilers: not on this thread, please! Thanks for title suggestions. I basically took @OverArmour's excellent suggestion and managed to shoehorn in snivelling simpleton, gloriously coined by @Eastie77Returns to refer to Lee in the first instance.

@WitcheryDivine suggested Recharging, Red Kites and The Man They Call Ron, is Ambridge becoming an earthly paradise or a hell on earth? which seems as good a place as any to kick off our discussions! Ron = Rob, a fortuitous typo on a previous thread. It does feel a bit as if we're marking time before he turns up again. Odd to do what could be a high profile storyline over the summer holidays when a lot of people will be away, but depending on your point of view, maybe that's a blessing!

Whither George? Is he shaping up to be Andrew Tate mark 2?

I foresee a Thursday/Friday night pair of episodes where Ron abducts Gideon by car and has a seizure whilst driving.

Actually, it'll probably be both Gideon and Helen who get abducted. Helen rescues Gideon in the nick of time (unfortunately) and the car explodes in a final spectacular funeral pyre for Knob.

On the entitlement to free NHS care, Rob is a UK resident again now so he is. Went through this with DD when she returned.

I've found my people.

I'm listening on my morning (train) commute the day after the episode. Fellow passengers genuinely edging slightly away at some of my morning curses. Hellin going to the appointment was just ludicrous.

I also took my mum's walking socks when clearing her house @echt and my little brother correctly identified them as one of my three takeaways from the house clearance process 🤣 They're scarlet red wool. Not to be sniffed at...

It is a lovely voice, yes, but I have a nasty suspicion he'll meet Kirsty at the airport and we won't hear them. As for most wonderful voice ever, let's not forget that Anthony Head (may he live forever) has been in TA as the Fairfather.

I don’t love Robin Fairbrother (strange lack of sword and library …) but I am missing the Fairbrethren as regular characters. Having moved his pigs to LL, Rex ought to be around much more often. And it’s Summer, so why isn’t all of Ambridge lounging on his boat?

I can't see the SWs inflicting the death of a second child on the Bridge Farm Archers. They used that card long ago when they killed John off.

I think Helen is being given the chance to see a weakened Rob and walk away from him by her own volition. With a lot of hand wringing first of course.

Slightly changing the subject, The Archers has got topical the last couple of days with the discussions around rewilding, Titmarsh vs Packham. I wonder if we'll get any mention of the debate?

Are Rob n Miles one and the same? Are their scripts interchangeable? Oh dear, what a tiresome pair/one.

It would have been Hooray Helen! if she had not had the clandestine meeting with Miles, on the whole.

She will be taking Jack to see Rob once Kirsty is safely on her way to Prague. Telling nobody where she has gone, naturally, so that when Rob and Miles eject her by force and keep the child she has no help at hand.
