Even if you don't have a leg(?), a life or a clue, Welcome to the first ever 85th Archers thread! Smile

Wild speculation and sensible questions always welcome - especially any newcomers.

A little game for the weekend, inspired by Timetogetup0630 and Gruach on the last thread:

Invent an explanation for how your username was the inspiration for an Archers storyline, character, etc - be creative!

My username is telling the story of Toby, Adam and Ian, although it probably needs some punctuation: Dad! Dad/Dad? Grin

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner? Star

Credit to MrsGrindah for the clever thread title

I'm a bit worried Jennifer is cooking Lexi meals with lots of vitamin A, doesn't it cause birth defects?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 03/02/2018 14:34

Lexi might conceive in the haunted hotel.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/02/2018 16:19

I think brine thought they were dumping rubble / hardcore not Very Nasty Poison that Kills Children @orangina

campion · 03/02/2018 17:04

I live in the SSSI at Grange Farm but I'm a bit worried that Oliver has forgotten and that Bartleby will eat me come the spring.

But then I won't have to keep listening to this present tripe.

BikingBeatrix · 03/02/2018 17:25

DuckBilled, l had that thought too though in my case it was too fleeting to get a post out! Yes, it‘s been known for a while that too much Vit A isn‘t good in pregnancy so women are advised to not eat lots of liver etc. At one time liver was considered good for its iron. In early pregnancy b vitamins and c are more helpful. And a good mixed diet. And L isn’t even pregnant yet. couldn‘t work out why JD was texting Lexi. And is she sending food parcels over or has she inviting Lexi for dinner? It‘s all a bit weird. I know JD‘s always been a fuss pot but this is fairly uncharacteristic meddling. Lexi should post on AIBU. Imagine the responses. Grin

Alleycat1 · 03/02/2018 20:45

My username was obviously the inspiration for the Lillian character.
I can't make a prediction as the storylines are all over the place.

orangina · 03/02/2018 21:18

I'm not sure how convincing the "I gave them permission to dump stuff, but I didn't think to check what stuff..." defence will be though.....

Thanks for the clarification though!

TopOfTheCliff · 03/02/2018 22:22

On the far side of Lakey Hill is an escarpment that looks out towards Felpersham and the Cathedral spire. Desperate men and jilted lovers have been known to throw themselves off it. The drop is only about eight feet so they generally just sprain an ankle and limp home. Potential jumpers include Tobee Brine and Freddie thinking he can fly!

BitOutOfPractice · 04/02/2018 10:00

No I'm not convinced either orangina. He was muttering about finding paperwork at one point but he's not mentioned since whether he's tracked the dumpers down

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/02/2018 10:09

William is a nasty piece these days.

I used to like him when he was a troubled teen and Ed was the golden one who sang in the church choir (or has my aging brain made that up?)

dairyfarmerswife · 04/02/2018 11:15

William is a nasty piece these days.

He always seems to sound so menacing

IJoinedJustToPostThis · 04/02/2018 14:04

He never got over the Emma/Ed thing, and has interpreted anything remotely positive that happened to E&E as further proof of the injustice of the universe. He's bitter. Can't stand listening to him.

TeenTimesTwo · 04/02/2018 15:45

I agree. Will is still very bitter about Emma/Ed. He sees everything they do (especially Ed) through a twisted mesh that turns anything they do into the worst possible light.

WineAndTiramisu · 04/02/2018 17:24

I am the eventual downfall of Alice...

Shoppingwithmother · 04/02/2018 17:38

My name inspired the pre-Christmas trip to the shops and hairdressers by JD and Peggy, where Peggy had a funny turn, but Jenny also sounded a bit ill - (is it the TCE in the Am?)

Gruach · 04/02/2018 18:03

I wonder if they're building up to another totally-mega-multi-HomeFarm-disaster, with Peggy and Jenny both seriously ill while the farm founders and poor Brian clutches his heart. (I often think fondly of the Christmas where Jenny and Debbie were both reeling from the shock of faithless husbands - and how it was contrasted with the close but grieving Tucker household after Betty's sudden death.) Ruairi must be just about old enough to re-emerge from silence now.

OuaisMaisBon · 04/02/2018 19:02

I'm what the Mayor of Meyruelle unenthusiastically said when Clarrie asked that Ambridge be twinned with his town.

Mootsie · 04/02/2018 19:57

What's wrong with Shula? Headaches? Hard of hearing?

Gruach · 04/02/2018 20:03

She has either (as someone suggested in previous thread) already had an affair with Philip (though that would be mighty unfair on us ...) or was hopefully contemplating one. I felt for her. SadGrin

Minimammoth · 04/02/2018 20:18

It was a side effect of the eyelid fluttering

echt · 04/02/2018 20:27

An interesting ep. I've seen posts in the past that referred to Jennifer's snobbery, but never seen: "their elders and ......betters". Ugh. Still, she'll have oeufs on her visage after the businessperson of the year debacle.

However, I'd have thought it was bad form to withdraw an award based on still as-yet proven blame.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/02/2018 20:53

I don't think Philip would have joined them and been so relaxed if he and Shula had DTD. But she has confided in him about her troubles.

I hope this is a good turn of events for Kirsty.

ThePartingLass · 04/02/2018 21:28

I am Kate.

Pip sprogglet storyline is immensely irritating, especially coupled with the Lexi one. I wish they had just let Kirsty be to have her baby.

orangina · 04/02/2018 21:38

How DENSE is Jenny Darling? I have to admit I was so relieved to listen to Brine's de-throning.....

Crunched · 04/02/2018 22:41

they don't seem to have had anyone go to Cirencester
Think Alfie had just left The RAU before he did'nt DTD with Pip. Of course, they never let him speak, probably a good thing because he would be unacceptably 'rah'.
