Even if you don't have a leg(?), a life or a clue, Welcome to the first ever 85th Archers thread! Smile

Wild speculation and sensible questions always welcome - especially any newcomers.

A little game for the weekend, inspired by Timetogetup0630 and Gruach on the last thread:

Invent an explanation for how your username was the inspiration for an Archers storyline, character, etc - be creative!

My username is telling the story of Toby, Adam and Ian, although it probably needs some punctuation: Dad! Dad/Dad? Grin

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner? Star

Credit to MrsGrindah for the clever thread title

Just wait until Smugula finds out

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/02/2018 19:40

JennyD is reminding me of Helen and Annette.

I predict Lexi will bolt to Bulgaria to escape

Jenijena · 02/02/2018 19:41

I am Jennifer Aldridge

Would anyone like to see my kitchen?

TeenTimesTwo · 02/02/2018 19:47

Well, I obviously own two teens, so that would be Josh and the other one who I generally ignore in favour of my PFB who can do no wrong even when spreading illness around the area, and getting herself upduffed by useless ex.

cheminotte · 02/02/2018 20:35

I am NOT responsible for any chemicals leaking into the Am!

RubyLennoxExists · 02/02/2018 20:39

I am your reminder that a dog is for life, not just for a particular SL involving Lill and Just.

DressageNut · 02/02/2018 20:44

I'm in charge of schooling the horses at The Stables while Shula gets on with hacking out, hunting and saying "WHOA, BOY!" at regular intervals.

Mootsie · 02/02/2018 21:00

I'm a little Moot of no practical importance rather than a big Moot or unsettled subject like Matt's hit and run and the missing bunting.

JessieMcJessie · 02/02/2018 21:04

I am what Rob’s ex-wife is called since she moved to Scotland to put the past behind her.

HatingTheBigShow · 02/02/2018 21:21

I heckle Lynda's panto.

Halsall · 02/02/2018 21:34

My username's the result of Elizabeth slumping headfirst over the computer keyboard in a hypoglycaemic coma after not eating or drinking for 10 hours while rushing to get the copy ready for the publicity flyers for 'Deck the Halls'.

Then sending it to the printer without checking and getting back 1,500 copies inviting people to 'Deck the Halsall'.

R4 · 02/02/2018 22:07

According to Google I am an abbreviation of R4DS, which is itself an abbreviation of Revolution for DS.
I am Josh's future!

meredintofpandiculation · 02/02/2018 22:09

My name inspired Adam's normal mode of delivery.

Back to the uni thread - the main reason that so few people went to uni back in the 70s was that places were strictly limited, and competition was quite stiff. There certainly weren't many people not taking up the possibility of a free university place.

SingaSong12 · 02/02/2018 22:18

I'm Lynda at her persuasive worst for the talent show - the poor victim having already said they can't act, recite poetry or dance.

dairyfarmerswife · 02/02/2018 22:23

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner?

Since as the wife of the only remaining dairy farmer in the village that would make me Rooth I will slightly reluctantly take one the role of judge... Some very good entries so far, but a little early for a decision.

Yet to listen to tonight. The Emma discussion is interesting, re lack of uni and worldly experience. Was she ever in Young Farmers, with its structured meetings etc? While I agree that Uni opens up a whole other world, there are other avenues in the countryside providing development for young people.

dairyfarmerswife · 02/02/2018 22:26

Also thanks for the new thread DDD and great title MrsG Pip has know idea what is coming...

DadDadDad · 02/02/2018 22:46

Wow, come back to some lively posting!

Thanks, DFW. There's one entry that made me laugh which would probably be my choice, so I'll be interested to see what you pick.

I don't think a uni education would make a difference - I've met enough graduates without the common sense they were born with. I don't see how she's acting any differently to all these SU you read about protesting against speakers because they disagree with them. The inability to accept other opinions and the power of discussion to influence is extremely depressing

Perhaps Emma will mature into the role

Minimammoth · 02/02/2018 22:59

Name: a rare fossil discovered under the detritus that is causing the pollution. ( just about sums me upGrin) . I’m in the no university, no degree camp, but managed to become an author.

Crunched · 02/02/2018 23:16

I inspired the sound effect of Tiger underneath the tyre of the unknown driver...

Ghostontoast · 02/02/2018 23:36

The name of Kenton’s contribution to the bar snack menu at the Bull on Halloween night - poached egg on toast - when they’ve run out of Wayne’s ciabattas.

BashStreetKid · 02/02/2018 23:48

Tough luck on Phil and Kirsty actors if their characters get together. If you don't marry an Archer, you're doomed to spend weeks if not months struck dumb when you're not convenient for the main storyline.

BashStreetKid · 02/02/2018 23:49

Anyone else wondering how come the Dopeys don't blink at the prospect of spending £200K on the new dairy? Have milk prices really recovered to that extent?

TheMadGardener · 03/02/2018 01:12

I'm the horticulturalist who (underpaid and single-handedly) keeps the grounds of Lower Loxley looking immaculate for all those wedding photos. I also planted the magic mushrooms.

LillianGish · 03/02/2018 06:35

Peggy was a huge fan of the silent screen and was inspired to name her daughter after me - either that or I am the inspiration behind every non-speaking character in the show.
