There is a new school being established and governors need to decide on the uniform.

What would you go for?

Definitely navy, try to avoid embroidered logos (offer sew on badges), plain coloured polo shirts that can be bought from any high street store

Maroon sweatshirt
Yellow polo
Grey trousers /skirt

Navy jumper with light blue or red polo. Keep pe kits themed the same. Minimal logos. No school specific coats.

Navy or royal blue

Definitely navy jumpers. White polo shirts because they're easy and cheap enough to find anywhere and are available in the easy dressing ranges too. Can be bleached/boil washed/vanished etc.

Our school wear ties from 4yrs (elasticated) which are pointless but make the sweater/polo combo look very smart.

Sky blue shirt, maroon jumper. My child's school had these colours many years ago when I attended and now they have red jumpers and white shirts which isn't quite as interesting.

Royal blue fades the least for jumpers/cardigans.

Polo shirts... my favourite is pale blue. Easily available and don't go grey.

Grey trousers/shorts/skirts most easily available.

Grey or black socks. Discourage white ones!

I saw this school on TV and thought the uniform was nice so I'll say grey and maroon. Obviously for a primary school the tie/kilt/blazer wouldn't be necessary

I like the combination of red polo shirt and navy jumper but I think navy looks scruffy after a lot of washing.

Simple and easily available colours. The effect and benefits of school uniform should not be underrated, but the recent trend for, let's face it, taking it to extremes, doesn't help at all

There is a local school that has great and a really nice rich purple, very smart and not usual so recognisable as that particular school. It's not this school but the uniform is similar
I also like green. I think grey rather than black trousers/skirts are better

I think white and blue/navy is the nicest combination for primary, with grey trousers/skirts/pinafores (blue and white check dress for girls in summer)
My DD's school is yellow polos with green cardigans/jumpers and I'm not a at all of this combination! (Altho I don't mind the green and white check summer dress)

Ewwww def not maroon for me.
out of our local primaries I think the one with red sweatshirts and white polos looks the nicest for children as it’s so bright and colourful on them. Ours is black trousers / skirt and black sweatshirt with red polo. Just a tiny splash of colour for little children. They’ve got their whole lives to wear dark navy and black. I think brighter colours are much more cheerful and vibrant for young children.

Navy and white with black trousers

Or maroon and white with black

I was dreading DS having white polo shirts but actually it's the easiest thing to keep clean, all whites hot wash, splash of vanish or Milton, easy, the PE t-shirts are yellow gold and every child is in a different shade depending on how they've been washed. He also likes the long sleeve polos in winter and they look smart.
DS' school were very clear to just buy plain polos especially in infants! The school shop does sell logo ones but even the induction pack said not to buy them 😁

I'm quite jealous of my niece's uniform which is dark green sweatshirt; with a white polo shirt. Dark green gingham dresses in summer.

Grey skirt/trousers/shorts with white polo shirt and red cardigan/jumper.
Red gingham summer sundress for girls.
All easily available from the High Street.

Some of the suggestions look nice...

but many parents need whats cheap at Aldi/Lidl. They sell blue and red, not maroon or yellow or green or purple or turquoise...

My friends kids went to a school that wore grey trousers/shorts/skirts with yellow polo shirts and purple jumpers.

They looked so jolly compared to the usual navy/maroon/bottle green.

Bright red or cobalt blue jumpers would be good too.

Not white, they go grey so quickly and ties look awful on primary aged children.

I agree that a navy jumper with white polo is a good option as they are colours that can be found in all high street shops and supermarkets. I like grey trousers/skirts but often find there's such a range it shades it can look a bit 'messy'. We ask for 'charcoal' specifically but even then there's a few varying shades, which wouldn't happen with black.

Bottle green, white shirts, grey trousers/pinafore/skirt.

It's simple, yet very smart.

I like the grey/white/purple too. Looks a bit different to the standard without being OTT.

Dark green or navy are the smartest.

I really dislike red and think it fades so badly and looks awful. Obviously purple, yellow and turquoise are really daft as you can't buy them cheaply.
