Tablets by post?

Hello - has anyone got experience please of taking the tablets by post? I just found out I’m pregnant, which is a totally shock. I don’t want to go through my GP and I don’t want to have a face to face appointment or scan. I think it would break my heart to see a baby on a scan, so I think the tablets by post make more sense. I’ve previously taken the MAP, so I’m trying to think of it similarly.

I’ve only had chance to Google Marie Stopes so far and that’s where I saw it as an option. Are there any other private clinics I should contact? Thank you

@sam433 , how are you getting on; have you taken the pills yet?? I agree very much with @Zebra13 , you should seek counselling if you aren't sure. You sound a bit conflicted, and lots of women do regret aborting a baby, especially those who weren't 100% certain to begin with. That remorse can affect your mental health, your relationship with your family, with your husband who wants the baby, and your children as well, the aftermath can impair all aspects of your life. I'm not saying you will experience problems for sure; some people say they are fine after terminating. But I would really say look deep down inside and don't rush into anything. Once you do it, it can never be undone. I'm happy to chat with you privately or publicly as well. I've experienced an unplanned pregnancy myself in a situation that some people would say was very bad to bring a baby into. But I kept my baby, pressed onward, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made! :) If you want to message me, click "Message poster", should be at the top of this post. I hope you are well!! xx

Please can anyone advise how long the process would take from taking the first tablets? Thank you x

I've got my MSI consultation tomorrow 😔

Waiting for the call from MSI to start any moment. Supposed to be anytime between 4-5pm. I feel so wobbly and unsure. I just want to run away and not make any decision either way. The waiting is awful 😞

I hope it goes ok. You still have time to decide.xx

coconutandlime · 05/07/2021 17:32

Give yourself time @StormGrey take up the counselling and don't be too hard on yourself. Hope it goes ok for you

66babe · 05/07/2021 17:33

Make sure you tell them that @StormGrey

Don't do anything you don't want to do , there's probably time for you to decide what you want to do
Please ask for counselling before you do anything

ED81 · 05/07/2021 17:44

I agree with the last 2 posts. Counselling might help things become clearer.

Thinking about you. This is a total head fu*k of a thing to be happening.

Go easy on yourself.xx

Thank you all for your support. Very much appreciated x

@sam433 The lady on the phone was lovely. She took my medical history and booked for me to speak with a nurse tomorrow morning to discuss option of tablets by post or surgical procedure. She was so kind. I don't know why I'm expecting some form of judgement. With hindsight, the waiting time is hard, but it does help to process my thoughts.

I'm currently rationalising having the baby, but I change my mind every few hours!!! I know everything would be simpler to not be in this position. I think I'll be in similar shoes to you and hold on to the tablets until making a final decision at some point over next couple of weeks. Thinking of you x

Glad the appointment went as well as it could have.

taking a few more weeks to think might be beneficial. Have you got any friends who you could confide in? It’s a lonely place to be when you have a major decision.

The changing of mind every few hours is something I can relate to.

Are you hoping to speak with a counsellor too?x

They may make you feel sick for a couple of hours , then again they may not
Everyone is different
Discomfort can make you feel sick too
So can anxiety
Sometimes we have to accept these things for the end goal ....

StormGrey · 06/07/2021 20:56

Sorry to hear you're feeling sick @sam433

I'm 5 weeks today and just started feeling nauseous whilst cooking dinner. A few weeks earlier than when I've been sick in previous pregnancies.

My tablets are in the post now, so should be here by Thursday. I'm really not sure still.

Thinking of you x

My package from MSI just arrived 😭 I'm so busy with work (from home thankfully) and trying to manage our house renovation project...it's too much to think of this too. I think I'm going to go sit in a cafe for a while.

If anyone else is thinking of the tablets by post option, the timeline for me was:

Monday 27th: call MSI
Monday 5th: call with MSI to give history
Tuesday 6th: call with MSI nurse
Wednesday 7th: package from PSI arrived

Please take time out for yourself @StormGrey
Life is always busy but where would that all be if you are not in a good place ... work , family , home all rely on you being content , thinking straight, sure of all options and possibilities and mentally prepared for the next challenge that comes along

Good luck with whatever you decide

coconutandlime · 07/07/2021 19:17

@sam433 I was of the understanding that if you're sick within half an hour of taking the first tablet then to contact your provider. Fortunately I wasn't, although was having terrible nausea. Apparently the second lot of tablets are more likely to make you sick if you take them by mouth than if you take them vaginally, so that's probably worth considering too! X

Busylizzie85 · 07/07/2021 20:16

I had my telephone appointment today, it was much quicker than I thought it would be but felt very comfortable talking to them.
They also said that taking the tablets vaginally is slightly better for side effects.
I am praying that I continue to have very few pregnancy symptoms before I get round to taking it all, I'll be 6 weeks at the weekend and that's when the nausea set in normally 😞

It seems that if you put the tablets vaginally there are less side affects but it can take a few hrs to start bleeding
If you put them in between your cheek and gum then you start bleeding quicker but with more side affects
Headache nausea sweating diarrhoea fever

However .. everyone is different and it's not a fixed rule
You can't not put them far enough @sam433 just push one at a time as far as your finger will push where you would have sex or place a tampon .. you can do 4 one way then the other 2 the opposite if you prefer ?
