Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Guess I might as well join in and make it feel more 'official'. Due 6th Feb and feeling strangely excited now. DH is also so excited and asking loads of questions everyday, which he never did with my previous pregnancies(2 MC and 1 DC).

Hi everyone

I've had a day of basking in my new secret & told my mum & sister & eventually DP about 20mins ago! All thrilled and I'm just blissfully happy about it! Midwives appt booked for 10 weeks, they won't see me before that. It'll be a long few weeks of continued symptom spotting!! Still got cramps, so bloated, wind too! Boobs inflated, general queasy feeling, peeing a lot, very fuddled head too and yes Applecharlotte I too noticed I'm drinking a LOT of water, it's a real thirst! I notice you and I have the same due date! Just 4 weeks! It's the size of a poppy seed apparently :-)

I hope you're all well, it's great to be on this journey together!

Morning everyone! Applecharlotte I too am really thirsty, i keep waking in the night desperate for a drink of water (but then an hour later I am rushing to the loo.....

Welcome anonmum2 I will try and add you to our list of stats.

Congrats earlgrey on telling your close family, I did it on Wednesday and it was a lovely feeling. I am glad they are thrilled for you.

OK....so ladies, talk to me about stretch mark prevention! What are you lovely ladies planning on using? I know its a little early but I am heading into town today and figure I may as well start early....so any recommendations?
Also, is anyone taking any prenatal vitamins?

I feel incapable of making any decisions and nneed some serios hand-holding!

Morning everyone! Thanks SuzyM, it's lovely to have my close family in on this, somehow more exciting & real! I am also relishing this big secret too with everyone else!... I used Bio Oil for stretch marks the last time I was pregnant. It's quite expensive but it's a really good product and a little goes a long way. I didn't start to use it till much later, a standard moisturiser should do till then, I like Jergens, get it all in Boots. I didn't get any stretch marks but suspect it's as much down to genes as products! I truthfully felt happier with my body after being pregnant rather than before! The changes in it which pregnancy had left were only good in my opinion!

earlgreyismynectar · 04/06/2010 08:59

I've been taking a Sainsbury's folic supplement the last few months & more recently a Boots mum to be supplement which includes folic acid. I know what you mean about confusion, I stood in front of the pregnancy supplements stand for ages in total indecision!

WalkOnBy · 04/06/2010 09:06

Morning everyone,

Congratulations to you all, how exciting!!

I'm hoping I can join this thread, I've done a few tests this week (AF due today) which have all been very faint but a line was there. I did a digital clearblue which was negative but that was on Wednesday afternoon. AF hasnt shown up (yet) and is usually v regular and I've done a FR test this morning which was very faint again......not sure what to think, I really really want to be excited but I darent in case......

I cant keep on doing tests forever but I am worried that its not as they are so faint and I keep reading about evaporation lines etc!

Thoughts?

I'm excited for all of you though, there seem to be lots all of a sudden!

x

HazB2010 · 04/06/2010 09:18

Hi walkonby, I think any positive is a positive! False negatives can happen, but the hormone only shows if it's there. Does that make sense? I'm a first-timer with no experience, but try again in a few days and I bet the line is darker : )
I've been taking folic acid for a few weeks, but treated myself to Pregnacare vits yesterday. Far too much choice - took me ages to decide, too earlgreyismynectar...
I seem to be having symptoms on alternate days which is a little bizarre. Today is symptom-free which means no excuse not to work! Does anyone else work from home and find it hard(er) to focus now? Need to give myself an IT policy to stop googling all things antenatal all day!!
X

GinaFB · 04/06/2010 09:46

Hello everyone!

I haven't looked at the thread for a few days and suddently its getting very busy which is fantastic!

I have added myself to the list!

suzym1984 make sure you are taking a vitamin with folic acid and/or a folic acid supplement, I can't stress this enough (from a very sad personal experience)

I am now on a MEGA dose of folic pescribed by the Drs. As a slight aside I am also taking part in a clinical study into NTDs and so I am taking another supplement that is a member of the Vitamin B group that they are testing to see if it reduces NTD's in humans...

HazB2010 luckily I am in charge of the internet usage at our offices so I can madly google things pregnancy all day!!!!!

grumpling · 04/06/2010 09:49

Morning Ladies. I've been taking folic acid but stopped taking primrose oil and B vitamins until the dr gives me the goahead. I'm also worrying about stretchmarks as I definitely have that kind of skin. I've heard that bio oil is meant to be good so I might get some of that.
And yes, suzym1984 I seem to be really thirsty too! And my backache just won't go, it feels suspiciously like AF ... so I found myself doing my fifth test last night. Oh dear - is this just the beginning of more and more neurotic behaviour??!
How is everyone breaking the news to family? We're seeing my mum in a week and will tell her then but we're not seeing DH parent's until July. Thing is I've got my heart set on telling my MIL face-to-face, as I know how excited she'll be and I want to share it with her. Do you think it's acceptable to delay telling them (I'll only be two months gone by then) if we've only told my sister and parents before that? What a minefield!

grumpling · 04/06/2010 09:55

WalkOnBy - I feel for you - the waiting is horrible! All the advice says to wait if you've had a negative and test again in a few days. But when I had a faint line I found it more helpful to test every day because then I felt more in control. And as HazB2010 says, the pregnancy hormone must be there for you to get a line. Another comforting thought is that even if the egg doesn't implant this time, at least you know that a/ your DH sperm work and b/ you are ovulating. Fingers crossed for you.

Looks like a few of us are due on the 5th!

I went to the dr yesterday, they have contacted the EPU for me to have an appointment at 6 weeks...so in another week and a half or so. I am scared to death. Cramps have gotten much better but had a brown discharge all yesterday. Had a MMC before so I am worried its all happening again.

I know it sounds silly, but those of you who already have 1, are you worried about how you can love 2? I am worried I wont be able to love another one like I love my DD and its making me really anxious and taking all the excitement away Is this normal?

As for stretch mark cream, I used nothing 1st time round and have been very lucky to have not a single one, but will be using Bio Oil this time.

WalkOnBy have you looked at the peeonastick website? Full of very useful info about faint lines, etc...check it out!

We have only told my mom and SIL, waiting to tell the rest of the family after the 6 week scan.

Applecharlotte I am very thirsty too, have just read its something to do with increased blood flow!

GinaFB · 04/06/2010 10:29

banana87 apple I am also very thirsty! Very normal though I think so not worrying about it! Felt sick in the car this morning, that is as far as my morning sickness went last time so figure it was just that!

I am also STARVING most of the time hoping that will wear off after 12 weeks or I will be as big as a house!

applecharlotte · 04/06/2010 10:45

Welcome Walkonby and congrats ! Totally understand its worrying that the lines are faint, but it is common as far as I can gather - maybe just wait a few days then test again. The line should get stronger as your hormone levels increase.

earlgrey - ahhh we do have the same due date . Its the day before my OH's birthday as well which is nice. I'm 4 weeks today. How on earth can something the size of a poppy seed make me feel so weird!

The thirst is just ridiculous, glad others have had it as well - one less thing to worry about! Loving being able to share this experience with you girls.

GinaFB - i'm the same food wise. I feel sick and starving all the time. The only time I don't is when I'm eating something. Doesn't bode well. What are you snacking on?

Need to crack on with some uni work as have got behind since BFP. Would much rather read pregnancy books then cognitive psychology thats for sure! Or be sitting in the park enjoying this gorge weather.

Have a lovely friday all!

applecharlotte · 04/06/2010 10:48

Oh and I'm on the pregnacare original as well. It seems to have everything in one so for me better then taking loads of different tablets. But thats me just being lazy I'm sure there is no difference between the brands.

suzym - stretch marks?! Oh dear lord I hadn't even thought of those...please let my genes be kind!

Dee36 · 04/06/2010 10:50

I hadn't been taking any supplements as we hadn't really started trying seriously and I kept meaning to ! So rushed out and bought some Pregnacare ones on Sat morning after I tested.

Grumpling I know what you mean about telling family. We want to tell our mums face to face and we're trying to work out when to do that. We're thinking at 8 weeks maybe and also going on a family trip around then when we'll probably have to confess due to me not drinking.

HazB2010 weirdly I'm having symptom free days too - some days I feel very strange and others not so bad. Am definitely more tired than usual though and eating is a bit of a challenge - not because I feel sick, but just don't feel like eating (fingers crossed I might actually lose some weight !!). Also v thirsty too most of the time..

Is anyone else having weird hot and cold spells ? One minute I'm roasting, so much so I feel like I could pass out, the next I'm freezing and putting on layers - which has drawn some funny looks as I walk the dog in 22 degrees with a fleece on !!

GinaFB · 04/06/2010 10:52

apple I am being sensible at the moment as I am craving fruit (it was the same last time) at the moment bananas and pears are my favourite!! (bananas are a good source of folic acid too!!)

Walkonby it will get stronger! I had the same panic but I tested every day after that and the lines were more defined! However a line is a line! Congrats!!!

applecharlotte · 04/06/2010 11:08

GinaFB you are good! I'm all about Twister ice lollies I think because they take so long to eat and therefore keep the sickness away longer.

banana sorry i missed your earlier post. I'm really sorry to hear about your spotting. Glad its getting better and that you saw the doc's. Can't imagine how you're feeling and have no words of wisdom, but i have everything crossed for you.

Ive got the pregnacare vitamins, they are huuuge tablets! it says to take on a full stomach - what on earth is in them?

I have been having mini hot flushes, although that could be the weather of course.

Boobs feel like footballs, but the constant need to wee has gone which is good.

Have worked out we will be on holiday in France during week 12 - so will I have the scan before or after, not sure yet. HAve made appt to see gp next week, apparently most people see the doctor for their first antenatal appt here.

StarflowerGirl · 04/06/2010 11:52

I agree walkonby a line is a line. Congrats!

suzyM I'm taking Morrisons own brand prenatal vitamins but have bought a pack of Pregnacare as well as I wanted to compare the vitamin contents. Pretty much a muchness really.

GinaFB I'm with you on the loving bananas thing. I can't get enough of them but rarely manage to finish even a kiddy sized banana due to nausea. Mushroom cup-a-soup with all the bits strained out is also on my list of absolute must haves. Right now I can only stomach foods that I don't have to chew so my daily diet is soup, mash potato and smooshed banana.

Bit of a TMI moment but I had my first proper wee this morning after a week of barely dribbling, so fingers crossed the antibiotics are working. Got so excited about the weeing that I phoned M at work to tell him!

Also told my Dad about the baby yesterday and he's over the moon. Apparently he'd guessed something was up as I'd been avoiding our long dog walks due to feeling sick. Anyway, don't know why I was so nervous as it all turned out lovely in the end and we had a great conversation. He made me cry when he said my mum would've been so happy about the baby.

Adding myself to the list - I assume the bit in brackets is our age?

apple I am trying to be good as I put on weight so quickly even when I'm not pregnant!! I think I will have to get some twister lollies too!! the biscuits are calling though I have to admit....

I think I am going to have to go bra shopping for some larger non wired bras... if they keep going at this rate my DP is going to be a very happy man....

Maybee · 04/06/2010 12:32

Hello and congratulations everyone! I'm watching this thread v closely but am too terrified to add myself yet as I haven't confirmed my pregnancy!
So far I feel a bit nauseous and have v perky boobs and my period is overdue but not sure by how much as I only stopped bfeeding my 9mth old baby 2 cycles ago.
I've 3 sons already aged 7, 2 and 9months so this is a bit of a shock although we did take a silly risk last month.

GinaFB · 04/06/2010 12:48

StarflowerGirl think our posts x there! anything ginger should help apparently! ginger biscuits and ginger ale have been strongly recommended to help with the nausea!! xx

suzym1984 · 04/06/2010 12:53

Hi everyone! I love how busy this thread is!

Walkonby I think that a line is a line, so congrats! Come and join us! I got my first positive (very faint) last thursday, and it has taken until this morning to get a nice strong, dark line......so 1 week later.

I am deffo going to start smothering myself with bio oil (terrified of the dreaded stratch marks)

applecharlotte Twister lollies are the best! and I am sure they contain vitamins (in the fruit swirl) and the ice cream swirl is added calcium....very good for you!

I have recently discovered M&S chocolate cornflake cakes, hmmmmmmmmm! I am going to be like a sumo in a few months!

grumpling We told out parents by texting a picture of the PREGNANT sign on the clearblue test, with the message "Due in February!". Not exactly face-to-face, but exciting and we thought quite cute. My parents are coming to see us tonight and I am so excited.

Have a lovely day everyone, hope u enjoy the sunshine x x

hmmmmm, feeling pretty odd today.

Did a test this morning and it said "Not Pregnant", but I still haven't had my period... did a bit of googling and apparently some women don't release the pregnance hormone as soon as others, not sure how real that is. Will do as the test said and redo it on Monday.

Strange!

(By the way, my husband said that my boobs look bigger this morning, this was after the negative test...
